🔹 Illegal Merchant in Stoneshard

In the world of Stoneshard, there is a rare and mysterious illegal merchant who can only be encountered at night in the city when the player is present. He appears only at night, from 12:00 AM to 4:00 AM, always behind buildings in alleys, and changes his location daily, requiring the player to search for him.

🔹 Inventory and Features

  1. Herbs and Potions

Mandrake Root – causes mild hallucinations and helps the user sleep; may induce drowsiness or disorientation in combat.

Opium Poppy – restores a small amount of health but causes hallucinations; frequent use can lead to addiction.

Side Effects: improper or frequent use of herbs may cause poisoning, blindness, or severe pain, adding extra risk for the player.

  1. Poisoned Weapons and Venom Oil

Venom Oil is used to coat weapons or arrows, adding poison damage. Oil consumption depends on weapon size:

Small weapons: 1/4 bottle per full coating for a few strikes.

Medium weapons: 1/2–3/4 bottle per full coating for 4–6 strikes.

Large weapons: 1 bottle per full coating for 6–8 strikes.

Arrows/Bolts: 1/8–1/4 bottle per 10 arrows.

Coated weapons deal poison damage for a limited number of attacks; they can be recoated if oil remains.

The merchant also sells pre-coated weapons that cannot be purchased from regular merchants.

  1. Artifacts and Cursed Items

Rare items with bonuses and drawbacks (e.g., +10 to attack but –5 to health).

Accessories that enhance magic or dexterity, but with negative effects.

  1. Any Loot

The player can sell any item, even those that regular merchants won’t buy.

Prices may be higher or lower than market value, creating a risk/reward choice.

🔹 New Effect: Addiction
Frequent use of herbs or narcotics (e.g., Opium Poppy) causes addiction, which affects the player’s morale and mental state.
If the player does not consume the substance for 3 days, debuffs appear: morale decreases, and the character becomes more susceptible to fear, panic, and other negative combat effects.
The effect can be gradually cured by abstaining, but the player must endure a period of reduced morale and discomfort.
🔹 Mechanics and Risk
Trading with the illegal merchant can affect the player’s reputation.
If guards see the player purchasing from the merchant, the player may be arrested and imprisoned, creating a high risk and encouraging stealth.
Occasionally, the merchant may provide fake or cursed items, adding additional risk and choice.
The inventory includes rare ingredients, unique potions, narcotics, and poisoned weapons, which temporarily strengthen or weaken the player.
Oil and poisoned weapons require strategic use, as consumption depends on weapon size and effects are temporary.
Improper or frequent herb use can cause poisoning, blindness, or severe pain, adding realism and danger to alchemy.
