Bandits, Magistrate soldiers, but also Council and Grey Army in the future.
We have factions with squires and footmen, but no one's using a horse? No cavlary at all in this world? Should I assume the graphics dev doesn't know how to draw one without looking goofy due to the feature of characters in Stoneshard having no visible legs or pants? ;D
#If we have horses, and large enemies, why are there no horsemen?

It is more about turn based actions.
Where exactly? It can still be counted as a single entity, I think. Moose seems to be doing just fine when charging at you ;D
In theory they can be like bisons. In theory.
Truth be told, I'm not even expecting opponents, since it's obvious briggands can't afford or afford to keep a war horse, but there should be at least a couple of Magistrate officers or sergeants parading on a horseback
Thing is, we have carcases near ancient troll, stables, and some horsies near the water troughs. So there are indications of people riding one, but the lack of anyone actually doing it seems odd
Will be interesting as a another lvl of dificult, like horse will be like a big hp shield after you kill the horse you will fight the npc that was riding it, i dont really care a about the lore aspect of the game but the game combat mechanics this game really lack some dificult scale.
That actually rarely happened in real life - falling off a horse usually means a lot of broken bones and internal bleeding, legs and spine especially.
And if you're attached to the harnaess then the falling horse swings you like a mace at the ground and you get stuck under the carcass.
Plating with padding sometimes helped and you only got knocked out, and sometimes unfortunate dent from the impact was a death sentence.
Despite what you see in the movies - if you managed to get the horse, the raider was rarely an issue afterwards 😉
I got your point but i wont focus on realism on a fantasy game.
Depends on how capable and(mostly) how armored the rider was. If it was on plated armor, of course he is gonna fall like a bag of potatoes, but if he was wearing leather armor or flexible ones, he could maneuver their way to the ground, as long as they weren't belted or anything to the horse, in which case that was mostly for armored combat
having the horse as a multi mobility free action would be cool, like if they fought in assaults
having it as a shield is a niche idea, since well, the horse is gonna be the main target, but maybe giving them a 2x1 space would be easier, having 1 on the back to target the rider and the front one for single target on the mount
also, would have them both take dmg if any of those spots is affected by area dmg in those spaces
Fly ShadowPig! Show them the meaning of haste
His aspirations are commendable.
¿Te imaginas el ataque de este enorme jabalí?
The advantage of cavalry is their speed, so if they can only take one step per turn it hurts that.
And even then you have a problem in that a cavalry can easily both move and attack. And in addition they are two separate entities with separate lives (a cavalry can dismount from a wounded horse and continue fighting)....
(And there are also stories about cavalry battles)
i mean you could still add those thing, it obvious enemy with horse gonna have a big advantage over you
I can imagine cavalry enemies working as mobility based enemies that just have a lot of charges that also do damage the more tiles they travel but have a passive that "Dismounts" them if they fall below a certain threshold of health "killing or incapacitating their mount" they then are just normal enemies with less skills and passives as well possibly less base stats to make up for it in a balancing sense, depending on how strong they are they could possibly be introduced in t3 or t4 brigands maybe earlier if balancing works
Their main weakness would obviously be their reliance on their "mount" to use their skills so punishing charges would be a great way to deal with them or at least have something like brace for impact to deal with charge damage to then dismount them and execute them
