For example reporting to a brynn emissary
Neutrality Benevolence: 2đź’€ 100%rep
1đź’€ 50%rep
Benevolence to Amity: 3đź’€ 100% rep
2đź’€50%rep
Amity to respect: 4đź’€ 100%
3đź’€ 50% rep

The rep gain curve of the game needs fixing. The money/reputation gain from 2nd to 3rd tier is about 20% despite being twice as long and also even harder. Low tier dungeons give way too much rep and high tier ones way too little.

And also makes the breakthroughs for tier 5 gear as impactful as they should be

I agree rep needs to be adjusted in some way. Not sure how I feel about this change. My initial feeling is that it would make the mid game much more grindy.

#

Maybe this change would be fine if there were additional ways to gain rep but the fact that there is only one natural t4 dungeon in the map would make the last tier of Brynn rep miserable

"- Reworked “Common Cause” and “Underworld Connection” Reputation perks: the amount of reputation granted in other settlements for completing local contracts now depends on the completed contract’s difficulty."***
From january 06 patch notes, so it seems to already be the case to some extent

#

progression is also planned to be slowed down significantly as more content is added (this includes Rep gains)

#

I do agree that early reputation feels a bit too fast at the moment though

Slowing down the rep gain is one approach but to me the bigger problem is how Rep can pretty much only go up. so once you've maxed it out you stop thinking about it entirely - it becomes a dead game mechanic.

Having a passive rep decay could solve that but another interesting solution would be introducing more decisions and dilemmas into your contracts. I'm thinking about changing sides and being opportunistic in that way. it sounds like a very mercenary thing to do but it's hard to come up with good examples.

a rep decay would be terrible once the map extends and there's more reputations/settlements/factions

"Having a passive rep decay"

IMO the progress is perfect now. You don't need to grind god knows how long to get rep in one settlement, and one rotation of contracts basically gives you one tier of rep in Brynn if you turn in to bailiffs. It makes for smooth transition between towns and tiers.

That being said, progress will be reworked entirely anyway, once we will get much more playspace etc.

Coming back to this topic because I just had a run where I got full Brynn rep at like level 11 by cycling mannshire and osbrook. Usually I like to try and tackle G3’s under-geared for fun but this time I decided not too.

It definitely felt weird that I could get max rep that early. Right now the best way to gain rep is just farm lower tier contracts and avoid the difficult ones where I think the design should motivate the opposite from the player. You should have to take on more risk to gain more rep rather than less risk for more rep.

#

Maybe something similar to what OP posted where when you are at 4k brynn rep tier 2 contracts give basically no rep towards Brynn.

You are taking bigger risks to get rep AND money, if you do low lvl contracts you get only rep while end game gear still costs a lot. You are also hindering your leveling too that way.
So, for some reason you all have issue with rep and you practically ignore all the other aspects.
And yeah, you can just lvl up somewhere else, you can just hunt for money etc.
This still doesn't change the fact that higher tier contracts are the best source of all those 3 things at once while being also the most time efficient in terms of real time.

And losing rep for whatever reason simply fkin sucks.

Yeah I’m not behind the idea of losing rep. I don’t agree about the money. You need resources like better gear or consumables to do higher level contracts and you can do tier 2 contracts in dirt cheap tier 2.

In the run I mentioned at level 11 I was full rep Brynn and could afford full light tier 5 set because my overhead was literally nothing. I was able to Econ all the gold I got instead of having to by better gear for harder contracts
