Quest users: If you have the latest firmware installed, go to your Experimental settings and turn on "Content Adaptive Brightness Control", this greatly improves image quality for dark games like Metro Awakening.

The game appears really wobbly, seems to be a latency issue as framerate is smooth. When I move my head the image follows around with some delay making it impossible to play

I tried running game with:
Virtual Desktop via WIFI 6 5ghz

My play area is 1.5m away from router and PC is connected via Ethernet.

My drops to 1 or 2 frames per second everytime I get to the main menu, then SteamVR errors out with error 451.

I'm getting no haptics on my controllers. Using a Rift S. It works when I switch my openxr runtime from Oculus to SteamVR, but then theres a bit of a performance hit for me. Still enjoying the game though, I'm at the start of chapter 5 and it's incredible so far.

I'm really frustrated, I bought the pre-ordered more expensive version and immediately started the download at 9pst BUT it doesn't work ! I've never had such a slow download before. I've already restarted 2 times but it's still at this snail's pace! At least the pre-orderers should be favored and it should be ensured that the first RUN runs smoothly. Only get up to about 100MB after 1 hour !!! I am in Germany

might we get official confirmation from support on this: Changing Render Resolution in either steam or Virtual Desktop seems to make no difference to the render resolution. It seems to be only possible to control it from the in game setting. Is this correct?

Have played 7 hours so far on SteamVR with my Pimax Crystal, Index controllers and 4090/7950X build. One of my favorite games of the year thus far but I have had a few repeat issues:

  1. When grabbing and holding trigger, pulling my Index controller away from my character causes the game to stutter / lag for a moment. It’s very jarring and happens nearly every time.

  2. I have had the game completely freeze within my headset after firing the AK47 styled gun for a few seconds but the game actually still continues, as I can hear the enemies responding and moving my joystick results in my player being moved once the game becomes unfrozen.

3 ) I have had moments where the image inside the headset is trailing. Similar to when you have the bitrate set too high on a Quest HMD and you get that laggy, visual trails. But it has only happened twice and it didn’t last but for a minute or so.

4 ) Max was invisible at the part near the start of ||Chapter 3 before we started going to look for Yana||

If this is not the place to share this, I apologize. I live streamed all 7 hours so if you all need to look at anything, I’d be happy to share. Also, by friend who uses the Bigscreen Beyond also had the same controller issue with his causing a stutter or lag.

Before buying the pre-order I had not found any real information about the “Deluxe Edition” on the Meta Quest Game Site. What is the difference between the 10€ more expensive “Deluxe Edition” and the simpler and much cheaper version that is now available ❓

What is going on, download fine 19gig on quest 3, gets to the part of the loading where it says in collaboration with, then that vanishes and all I have is a black screen with eerie sound

Meta refused to solve the issue where my preorder was cancelled the day-of release, although i have proof of preordering as of november first.
If theres some kind of solution so that i may get the medical preorder exclusives, it would be appreciated.

@woeful oak I was able to fix the flatscreen launch issue from yesterday! It was indeed just a API Layer which I had no idea was still active inside SteamVR. Really enjoying the game so far!

Can someone explain to me how I can play the game on Steam ? I bought it at Meta/Horizon for the Quest 3 and have no idea how the game should be available on Steam ? I would also prefer to play it there with the Pico 4 Ultra or preferably with the Pico Neo 3 Link. That should also be possible and not just with the Quest 3 or am I wrong ? As i have understand it: if someone buy the game on Steam or Meta store it make no difference, in any case it can be played also on the other unit > Steam & Quest.

Question for the devs: there seems to be a lot of foveated rendering on Quest (very pixelated when looking down especially). Will it be possible to reduce this? - the great thing about Quests sharp lenses is when you look around everything should be sharp. Would be a shame if this can't be improved.

Also, it would be great to have more gore when you kill the mutants (something I loved in AS Remake). It would add even more realism / immersion. Possible to up the gore level and maybe include it as an option (a button in the graphics setting for gore?)

this one no idea - is your dominant hand set to left? (some issues with that, you should be able to switch freely to be clear!) have you tried quitting the game and reloading it? sometimes helps. maybe a fresh reinstall (youll be surpsrised how many thing that fixes across all games honestly lol) but would love to have these videos in a ticket if you can!

Sadly I’ve just suffered my first checkpoint death issue, for the last two days everything has been working ok when I died, just now I died and when I restarted I was back too my checkpoints! I must of lost more than an hour of game play! (Exactly the same issue with Arizona Sunshine)

I’m still having the problem where the game freezes/lags for a couple seconds visually after firing any gun at an enemy. The game is still continuing though, as the enemies still shoot and I’m able to move my character within game. It makes for terrible fire fights.

I’m plying through SteamVR with the Pimax Crystal, and SteamVR as the runtime, using a 4090/7950X/64GB DDR5 with fresh drivers.

I have my HMD resolution turned to 75% (which is 3825x3,234 per eye) and the in game graphic settings on high and AA off. fpsVR doesn’t show any issues with my hardware when the freeze/lag occurs but I’m at a loss.

I thought it may only be within my headset but when streaming, my viewers are able to see it happen as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

As a person who is only 1.7 meters tall, it is really difficult for me to use that machine gun
Almost all NPCs will flash white in the dark metro
After that "10 years ago" If I crouch down to avoid the black waves, I'll be very, very tall when I wake up
When I got a pistol, the muzzle always be very high and hard to aim.

Thank you. I've read that before I reached out here. I've turned off the API's like Oculus and Quad Views before even playing the game.

I do however have OVR Toolkit, which I assume is what you all are saying is VRToolkit. Or is that something different? I use OVR Toolkit for all my VR games (over 200) and none of them have had this issue. Many of which are Unreal Engine titles.

I'll try it turned off to see if that works but I use OVR Toolkit for live streaming purposes, and if I can't use OVR Toolkit with Metro Awakening, then that's a huge downside as OVR Toolkit is used by a good portion of the PCVR community. Thanks again for the suggestion

CAN THE UPDATE PROCESS PLEASE BE LOOKED AT!!!!! I have brought this up before but something is not right! I have now once again had to free up 23GB of space on Quest 3 for a 64MB yes 64MB hot fix update. The update wouldn't run at all, untill I did this. I watched the update download and yes it was only 64MB, nothing more. The full game is about 23GB so it looks like something in the update process thinks any update (even this tiny 64GB hot fix) is going to be the size of the full game and won't proceed if that required empty space isn't there. That's almost a third of the space a 128GB Q3 has, needs to be made empty. @woeful oak can this please be looked at or reported back to the devs, as something is not right with the way updates are being rolled out.

I don't know if this bug should be fixed but I still have issues with shadows when they're set to high. I'm playing on the Rift version 890344. Seems like some shadows are only rendered in the left eye. You can see this at the body of this enemy in the screenshot.

Currently, the subtitle positioning system is not working properly. Many times they are lost of sight and you have to make forced movements with your head to position them correctly. This causes a lot of loss of immersion.
Since this dynamic positioning does not work well, would it be possible to introduce a subtitle mode with fixed positioning?
In the current state they are very difficult to follow and details of the story are lost, which is not desirable.

Hey there. After update the game on my quest3 the rifle handling is totally unuseable. Before the Update there was no issue. But now when i put my left Hand to the rifle it stutters extremly while walking. I reinstalled the game, but it's still worse. Like this, the game is no playable any more. @woeful oak When I reached chapter 8 the scene where you follow the boy across the platforms it was nearly unpplayable, it had invicible object blocking my path, I could look straight through, objects, through the ground which was mostly invicible

It didn't actually touch the wall, I made sure! This is an edited clip, but in the full one I looked to see the distance between the wall and I and there was definitely some distance.

Two handed weapons are working fine with every other game

I bought this a few days ago for the Quest 3. I’m really enjoying it but I did find some glitches. I’m running it on OS v71.

(I tried to use the bug report system linked at the top of this thread but I didn’t see any way to submit a ticket.)

  1. The character voice volume level seems backwards. Characters far away are louder than characters standing right in front of you. It makes conversations a little tough to follow unless I crank the volume all the way up.

  2. The auto jump triggers for no apparent reason when you’re on flat ground. Luckily this happens rarely and so far only while strafing, but it’s disconcerting and immersion breaking when you suddenly leap to one side.

  3. And once I went down a ladder and was unable to climb back up. The only way out of the area was back up the ladder, but since the ladder glitched and couldn’t be grabbed I had to go back to the last checkpoint save.

Hi, I have an issue where the med injector despawned after the trolley crash caused by the nosalis

I was low on health and flashing red, so I went to use the med injector, but as soon as I used the injector, the nosalis jumped on the trolley and caused it to crash

#

When I awoke, my left hand was missing, and I couldn’t get it to come back

#

Loading back into the game from the main menu caused the left hand to return, however, the med injector that was in that left hand never returned

#

So, I’ve played quite a bit of the game without the med injector

#

I was hoping that it might respawn after the ”stare into the flame and step into the void” dream sequence

#

But it never did

So I have no med injector

Hey there. Hope you're browsing this channel too for bug reports! In the latest patch 0.3, in the PCVR version at least, I'm experiencing issues with some dynamic shadows where some only render in one eye (in mono). This can be easily reproduced by starting a new game and observing the guy standing next to a fire barrel. Curiously it only affects some dynamic shadows, and very likely the new ones introduced in that patch.

This was observed at max settings.
This persists across all AA/image reconstruction techniques.

Technical information:
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT
OS: Windows 11
Streaming via Virtual Desktop using the VDXR runtime and the HEVC 10-bit codec.

@woeful oak Just wanted to say that enabling Virtual Shadow Maps (for example by setting r.Shadow.Virtual.Enable 1 via the console) resolves the issues with shadows only rendering in one eye. It does seem to introduce other problems of its own, but at least it fixes that. From what I can see from the Unreal Engine forums, the problem might be related to stationary lights with a shadow distance less than 1. Passing this forward to the team in a new ticket

Hello Metro Awakening VR Developers team,

I would like to get a refund for the game "Metro awakening" from my steam account "https://steamcommunity.com/id/XolixGamer/" since the game does not work on my VR device or on my PC, the problem is that after launching, the game window opened on the computer, but I could not do anything since the game was not displayed in the headset, I had already updated the drivers (NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti and Intel Core i5 10400F), then I tried to wait (waited half an hour, the loading did not stop), reloaded the game, but all to no avail, I have all your "metro" games, but this one I would like to refund until the time when I update, before I accumulated the Valve Index.

ive got metro awakeing yesterday and was very excited to play it, so far its an amazing game and i love it, except theres is one MASSIVE bug

so in the patch notes for one of the last patches, it said that finger tracking for index is now implemented. but my index controllers still have me closing my hand in mitten mode like every other controller. am i missing something?

nevermind. i dont know why it wasnt working but it sure is now.

ive dont some experimenting with the bug, most of the time if i click in the trigger hard and fast it will shoot (still not 100% tho), the first couple shots after a reload always shoot, and it always shoots with my left hand pulling the trigger

@remote oyster the gun won't fire if it's being obstructed by an object. Could that be the cause of your issue?

I've beat the game 3 times and I didn't encounter that bug yet. Guess you got unlucky.

I do speedruns so I encounter lots of bugs including soft locks and crashes but I never experienced that one. Hope you find a solution.

Pc Version.
About 90% of my runs, I cant pull out ammo or a weapon. I see my hands but nothing comes from my chest

Hello.
I am playing Metro Awakening on the ps5 and psvr2. I am stuck at the beginning of chapter 3. I am supposed to go to Maks, but he and his companion are stuck in a T-Pose. Restarting the Chapter doesnt yield any results.

(If that changes something, I died in the cart at the end of chapter 2 and it restarted the chapter. But I can start chapter 3 from the menu as the game also seems to think I finished it)

maybe you need to do chapter 2 again? it might have a bug with starting the chapter without finishing - please aslo try reinstalling the game

Is it normal that the chapter restarts as a whole once the player dies, or are there checkpoints?

I havent played chapter 2 again tbh because I was so frustrated.
Will also try to reinstall.

Reinstalled the game and replayed Chapter 2 without dying. It solved the problem.
It seems that dying at the end of Chapter 2 on the railcart while "driving" into the finish line could have potentially been the trigger for it. I have seen at least one reddit post describing the same problem.

@woeful oak do you have any official confirmations you can share as to whether or not additional patches will land for the game? I did raise a ticket with the development team about a rendering issue and shared a repro video, they added it to their internal issue tracker and closed my ticket, noting that it didn't mean it had been addressed nor resolved, but simply that it is being tracked internally now. I'm still holding off on continuing my playthrough until it's either resolved, or that I know it won't ever be so I can just hack my way around it instead with console variables.

Thanks for being blunt and honest with me. That's so refreshing! It's kind of surprising if the team don't consider it neither urgent nor widespread, considering I believe it affects every player running the PC version with the 'Shadows' setting on the High or Ultra setting since patch 0.3 and it does cause pretty severe visual distortion, although that is obviously subjective. I'm fairly sure that if one of the devs quickly played the initial parts of the game on PC with high Shadow settings, they would agree it needs fixing.

It might not look like much on a 2D screen, but in anaglyph 3D, it's really hard for the eyes due to the binocular disparity.

Am I missing something with TSR anti aliasing? Even with a 9900x, 5080, 64 GB RAM and SSD it causes FPS to jump down to under 60

Makes everything really choppy and makes me feel queezy. But it is the best looking option, not sure how this has such an immense performance impact when I can easily run everything else out maxed including the resolution scaler

hey am on steam-quest 2 and im getting a black flickering effect over the whole screen, its happened on the main menu, and right after leaving the first room of the tutorial, it reduced its effect once i turned down the settings but is still really irritating, is this known about and is there a fix?

Ah fairs, its not too bad cus in areas where most of the gameplay happens like stealth n shooting theres less flickering so its not too bad

Why the med injector has so HUGE area. Like I have my hand on left side myself and my controller is vibrating because the hand in game is still opening and closing.
Also the injektor can be take from the front of my body
Why is the area so big?

To keep my hand closed, I have to have my hand right in front of my head plus minus, so it's really frustrating...
