UnID'd items are very rarely worth using. This is the stats for around 200 items ID'd, and you can clearly see the chances of getting anything worthwhile are extremely poor. Something needs to be done about them to make them more attractive. One of the most fun things about farming isn't the gold, it's finding an item worth keeping. At the current rates, it's more of a hassle than actually fun and engaging.

I see unidentified magic items as the primary source of shard essence for scribe books. Personally I generate more shard essence than I consume because exceptional/slayers/runics almost always make more sense to use than magic items. I'd like to see more uses for shard essence such as an enchantment system - a skilled item identification player can provide temporary boost to a magic weapon or armor using shard essence, which would create a sink for that resource and drive up demand. Also an easier way to bulk disenchant and disenchant bonus at GM item identification would be helpful.
i think shard essense has plenty of use for magic books. maybe those could be increased in usefulness for PVE, especially the magery/volatile ones. i purely want to see better rolls on items so that getting an unidentified drop is more exciting than just "oh, another durable crook" 90% of the time
Were your magic item counts gathered using fortune favor amulet? I've seen higher tier magic items on spawns when wearing the amulet, these items are oddly pre-identified.
Are you thinking the higher the level mob drops higher tier magic items? Would be logical for that to occur but it seems currently a zombie has an equal chance at dropping a tier 5 item as a greater dragon.
Ya anti boon necklace gives better magic item drops.
I like the idea of better volatile books if they stay droppable and unable to be insured. One of the few things you have to risk dropping

Fully agree that one of the best parts of dungeon crawling is id'ing magic gear and hoping for a great find.
I also appreciate that the very best gear should always come from crafters - but hopefully that doesnt mean that magic gear drops are 99.9% crap.

Back in LoA i would farm the hard mobs for book drops and rare loot. Now it just seems like I farm these hard mobs for gold and everything else they drop just goes on the ground.
I agree with this, it's not a simple change as I looked into it last year but it is something id like to see added.
I know im likely in the minority here but i think the best top tier items in game should be tough mob or boss dropped items to encourage dungeon farming and tougher mob farming , its never made sense to me how the top tier gear is fully locked behind having a high level crafter. If getting people into dungeons etc is the long term goal. I also often see threads on wanting boss and tough mob rewards to be more than just deco - i don't see how this would be possible while top tier magic items continue to be locked behind bod points or high level crafter barriers.
even though I have a lot of gold/stuff nowadays (and crafters) I just don't think it makes sense personally to not have the very top items mob dropped - crafted items for me should be more about good quality to allow you to have a realistic chance to farm tougher stuff over vendor bought items- but not best in class that should always be from farming content. just an opinion though maybe I'm a bit drunk lol but this is what makes sense to me.

I disagree partially, for crafters to remain relevant they NEED to be involved in the creation of top tier items. Masterwork catalyst was the answer to this, but I think there needs to be more thought into the placement of the materials, ex. Catalyst mats only drop from the daily dungeon, or from mobs on the lowest level or something
To tie this back to the original topic, make it so GM item ID can convert 750 shard essence into a catalyst material
I'd love to see specific items that arnt deco come from bosses, but not replacements for crafter armor/weps entirely

Do many people even buy high end runic items now from crafting, is the bigger issue not the cost to craft them or get close to the points needed basically makes most people not even buy them. I still feel there should be a tier above that that drops from mobs only, even if to have a chance to get them you needed to have top tier crafted gear.
its always been very rare for anyone to buy runics, mainly because they dont provide enough value, yet they still cost a metric ton to make. The only people that buy them in the first place are people who just want to have the best. Adding in boss drops that are better just removes those customers entirely
But again just my opinion, its like blue gems for example , it takes 30 gems and they seem crazy rare nowadays, i coild probably farm enough gold to buy a full runic set before getting 30 gems, making the end chest a bit lackluster
But i get what your saying, as well. Im just trying to think of a reason to do some of the quests etc out there other than just for farming gold
i feel like there could be functional items added to bosses, that enhance runics, or something enhanced, thats worth going for
I guess some compromise with uo artifacts type items could work, maybe some functional mask slot items that cant be crafted or sandal/boots that give some bonuses

Yes hard for sure, but not just via monster waves spam, i have a near top of the range pc but it couldnt handle the xmas boss add spam lag at all, put me off bosses for life lol
A raid style boss would be great though
id like to see bosses added where alts basically cant function, like require every character to be constantly moving
instead of people being able to bring down 3-4 stealth summoners, cast a dg and afk the toon for 5 mins
then could easily add in dps checks with regen to require more people, and some adds but not the insane amount that explode everyones computer lol
maybe instead of lots of adds, just hard adds
Hehe yeah, even if the adds were really tough but not so many, from what i remeber of the chritmas boss alot of the adds were really weak and almost pointless other than for driving up the lag. Personally i dont multibox nowadays other than for skilling up (my old man reflexes cant do it anymore) so no alts would be fine for me
