#Transparency for skill gain chances

It'd be really nice to show the chances to gain skills in-game. Someone mentioned there used to be a way to turn that on and off, and it'd be really nice to re-enable that so people can figure out if what they're doing is an appropriate use of their time. I can't see any downside for the player base.

Edit: Denied by Gorgan. Sad day for all of us.

🤞 wonder why it was disabled. Could be good

Actually would be very helpful for newer players who are unfamiliar with the ins and outs of skill gains.
Hell even non new players, this would be helpful. Good suggestion

Would definitely help the wiki. But then again who’s got time to update that

i'd like to add on to this, that there's so many different skill-gain modifiers at play here, that it's extremely hard to know if you're screwing yourself over by doing something or not. there's no downside to showing the chance, it would only help people realize that they're doing something wrong or inefficient. i myself am still struggling to know when i'm "actively gaining" versus not, or what the difference is between passive tame gain chance and active, or if doing something in a town / dungeon is giving me a bonus or not

Yeah great idea more info visible the better, more so like people say to help new people get an idea of the best leveling gains.

quick bump here, seems like it's just flipping a switch and it's gotten nothing but positive feedback

We will not be adding debugging information for players to use, sorry.

ooooooooooooof big oof

#

how can we tell if a skill is affected by active gains then? like veterinary or peacemaking, for instance?

#

maybe as a compromise, since it seems this is something the players want... could the devs be a bit more explicit in how skill gian systems work?

eternal elk
#

or, which i would really like to know if you don't mind... does the "exhausted" message for taming apply to passive gains as well?

oh jeez

maybe the devs will grace us with an answer

Didn’t work last time I did tamer either

eternal elk

guess not

alright Gorgan - how about, instead of exact skillgain chances, we could just get a display of skill gain modifiers when using a skill? like "active bonus: +50%"
"city bonus: +10%"
"house bonus: "-30%"

#

that'll help with at least troubleshooting, without giving away too much
