I have a level 92 rogue from before the majasa update - other than story is there any reason for me to go back and do the quests?
hey guys - i put pionts into void cleave and unlocked the node that casts abyssal echoes, does that actually do anything if i don't have the 10 points into VK to unlock the actual abyssal echoes spell?
If a unique item doesn't say a drop source on lastepochtools, such as from a boss or such, does it just drop absolutely anywhere? If it requires level 70, it can only drop in area lvl +70, but otherwise from anywhere?
you need to do the last quest to get your max skill points back if you respec

I have another question: How do I go about leveling up certain timelines in the monolith? I've been trying to get one up another 6 levels, but sometimes when I kill orobyss it increases, sometimes not. Am I missing something?

Yes.
Spell crit has higher numbers but strike chance is global.
@balmy geode the further you are away from the start of a mono, the higher the rewards get. Some of the close orb nodes will reduce corruption if they are close to the start. The further out you go the more corruption will be added. I'm assuming by "level up" you meant add corruption?

Whereas a sword with +80% chance to bleed will make my bleed chance in csheet go up additively to 160%

Seems to be that way, I didnt like that channeling skills only activate the shroud on hit chance when they start so I tried to swap to non channeled, figured "I have 150% melee attack speed it should be fine" nope it was terrible as heck. The channeled version attacks at mach speed in comparison.

Correct.
it does include dots
but its not super accurate for them
(if your on a very low level character, and equip an item that adds a dot on hit chance, it increases the dps tooltip substantially)

ive never noticed that
so you use a rule like that, then just change the tier based on your current gear
cus comparative to chracter level isnt taking into account what gear you have, and realistically a filter isnt ever going to do that. But doing it through tiers lets you use rules to just quickly adjust based on what you currently have

yeah I noticed that since I used the stash, it's super laggy for me to drag or do anything, I don't know if it's intended or not, it even happened where there's nothing in the stash in the beginning

The devs try very hard to keep you slow.
Little access to movement speed (for minions, too) and movement abilities have cooldowns.
Your damage will also fall off as you stack corruption because mobs gain more health.
99% of builds will be feel quite a bit slower ; bowmage is probably one of only few that feels almost poelike

Yes it is a viable strategy, however you have to complete monoliths to get to all of the bosses, so you will still need a decent level of clear
It's just a normal spell, doesn't take any notice of whatever you're sacrificing.
But the chain node, the best and only general damage node, is currently bugged so I'd hold back on sacrifice until that is fixed or changed.
Since the life cost reduction of flayers pride is bugged for proc effects like javalin casting smite, is there any % health cost reduction items that will work? I know there are other means to work around the cost but would prefer to just lower it outright without spending skill points
Hello! I just reached the end game and unlocked my first blessing, and I was wondering, what is the end game loop? I see that I am dropping a lot of yellow items, but the levels vary a lot. Is there a rarity above yellow that I need to focus on or should I check every yellow and improve the best ones with craft?
Exalted items are purple. They are drop only meaning you cant get them by crafting, they are essentially t6 and t7, so the loop is to farm the monolith trying to get the blessings you want with good values as well as finding exalteds to craft on.
in addition to farming uniques, idols, etc. Many of the items have wide ranges of values, and they cant be rerolled for uniques and idols, so farming multiple of the same item can sometimes be a thing you do too.
Do I need to deal cold damage in order to chill? Namely, if I have a skill dealing only lightning damage, and 100% chance to chill on hit, will I afflict chill with that skill or not?

so as long you have chance to X from skill trees/items you can inflict them
also damage types as such i believe do not have any inherent chance to inflict ailments

so it's just a matter of how high those affixes can roll

these two should do the same thing for my melee attack (Flame Reave), and having "Through Flames" does give me extra damage, but having "infused weapon" doesn't give me extra damage

Hi ho! I play HC, minion build. How important is res overcap, and how much is needed? Any resistanses more important than others? I am 100+ on crit avoid.
If I have a fire, cold and lightning as a skilltag are the Dragon Mage and Dragon Breath passive nodes triggered every cast?
Mark for Death debuff is -25%, and some mobs can have attacks that shred 5% per hit. I think overcap goal would be like 100 for most purposes since both of those are rare occurrences.
Not 100% sure on the shred value, just going off memory comparing it to player shred.
Although belt affix to remove debuffs on potion use should get rid of both of those, so you may not need to worry at all.

Mark for Death is the most common form of resistance shred and is -25, which is 25% increased damage taken
25% increased damage taken is however one of the weakest damage increases you'll find on a monolith modifier
and it doesn't scale with corruption
so it's basically a non-concern
resistance shred tops out at -40 for players, but it's very rare you'll get that many stacks on you, and again, resistance overall is less impactful than basically any monolith mod in terms of how it impacts the damage you take

It means Focus will have 21 skill points
It gives an extra skill point to that skill if you have it specialized

Storm Aegis gives you a single instance of ward if you use surge and hit one or more enemies
Shielding Efflux gives you ward for each enemy hit

I went with fire aura + damage over time + ignite with flame reave, and a bunch of ignite chance in passive tree as well
and enchant weapon with the Conflagrate
and honestly, I didn't know what was the killing the monsters
but yeah. after that I just get organized and tried to get more melee fire damage
and not going crit

If you or your minion have a chance to apply an ailment on hit, then that chance is applied to each individual hit that is capable of applying the ailment.
If your crows have a chance to apply frostbite then it is rolled for every hit, if you take the Frigid Wings node in the Summon Storm Crows tree, then their shock chance is converted to frostbite chance. Your crows and wolves will share the same stats that are labeled/prefixed with "minion" on your gear, their skill trees do not affect each other however (except in some fringe cases).

No, all increases are additive with one another, whether its 90% increased minion damage or 90% increased minion DoT its the same (so long as we're talking about a DoT and not a Hit).

They will use specialized versions of the skills (if they're specialized). This is not true of minion skills that cast skills with the same name as skills your character has

If you have 100% chance to ignite, it applies one stack, if you have 110% chance to ignite you apply 1 stack with a 10% chance to apply a second stack

when it uses a skill of yours, as opposed to a sub skill, it uses it how it is for you. The skill bar is irrelevant to that

"deals more damage" - nothing about it hits, so it works on everything warpaths does

the exp is okay if you just want to brain off and fight monsters with 0 investment into walking around
Arena exists mostly as a ladder to push your build/compete, to get loot/exp just do monos.

see how my ele resists are low? That's because aura is inactive... that makes very dangerous 2s window. It comes back on after 2s despite still being on cooldown.

You don't need any resource, just add another affix.
All items have 4 slots here (except uniques/sets), rarity just tells you how many are currently in use.
I think the first few I picked up were part of a set. They were normal and magic but only had 2 and 3 slots respectively. I just bought a weapon to just see and you are right. Just unlucky with the items I picked up lol

Yes, armor only protects against direct hits, where as physical resistance protects against all types of physical damage.

I found out about this game recently and have heard good things. I'm not an expert on arpg's, but have enjoyed playing D3 and Grim Dawn in the past. I never got into POE due to that intimidating skill tree. Is this pretty friendly to more casual players or do I need to min-max and aim for specific builds to get the most out of it?
I think it resides in a unique space between D3 and POE. More depth than D3 without the daunting complexity of POE. I would say it's casual friendly. You can complete the campaign without a build guide and I encourage you to do so.
The game is cool
You can honestly do non-empowered monolith on pretty much anything you roll up yourself as well as long as you make sure your resists are in a good spot and you have decent health.
Empowered monolith and corruption farming might require some tweaks to your build, but everything can be changed except your mastery choice, so you can pivot builds very easily.

Enemy Penetration applies after your resistances are capped to 75%.
What does this mean? That having over 75 does nothing to the enemies pen cap?

The only point to having over 75% resist is to mitigate the effect of resist shred stacks (which are applied before the resist cap).

which monolith boss (empowered) has best build opening unique drops?
I'm looking for some advice on my minion based Forge Guard. I'm utilizing Forged Weapons and Manifest Armour, but trying not to lean my gear into the MA and rather focus on scaling both Forged Weapons and MA equally.
My question: Since crit scaling on Sentinel minions is very limited, is it even worth trying to go for crit? I'm torn between abandoning crit entirely and just focusing raw damage, as the only real source of crit comes from weapon.
I've calculated that with Void Cleave vulnerability stacks, and both Melee Crit + Inc Crit on weapon, I can get my minion crit up to around 46.4%
Manifest armor can get 100% crit and 600? % crit multi if you want
But making manifest armor a real killer means gearing for it and then its honestly a Monster
I'm not a huge fan of the clearspeed that Manifest Armor offers so I want to focus more into Forged Weapons as well
As such I want to scale Attunement/Minion Dmg rather than gearing specifically for MA
Well ma needs 3 things... a base crit weapon, crit/speed gloves and the boots .. thats basicly the important stuff in 3 slots

Yes, more multipliers are generally stronger than increases. Not always, but most times.
Increases also deal with flat damage as well, just to avoid confusion
All inc damage gets added together and is one multiplier

The more multipliers are applied separately, but yes.

Ah, so it's approximately right. As I know it there's crit chance/multi and attack/cast speed above "more" and then comes the "damage taken" part.
They aren't "above" more modifiers, they're just applied separately in the damage calc
so they're equivalent to more modifiers.

Just got to monolith with my FG, so there's still experimentation to be done, but using an Obsidian(I think) axe with implicit minion damage and the Void Cleave node that gives a ton of flat fire damage to minions has been doing phenomenal for me so far. I still need to test the keystone node that makes the buff more effective but only works if I Void Cleave the minions, but with 12 weapons and MA, it looks like a ton of damage.

Yeah that's what I'm doing as well, but running a Radiant Axe instead for melee fire and fire pen. It's working well, but I'm still toying around with crit on the axe prefixes or just doing %melee dmg or flat fire dmg
It just shows how high your roll was. Full blue = max roll
is there any penalty to dying in the arena?
do you lose the items you pick up unless you leave?
if you have picked them up you are good, penalty for dying in arena is that you dont get end rewards, if you choose to leave arena at a break wave you get a chest with some items in it.
in HC you do become a ghost if you die, so its just like a normal death, same with the "Deathless" tag, tldr dying in arena is just like a normal death.

or 1537 max hp with 907 Endurance Threshold (Endurance 60% on both)
I think the EHP is very close between the two, and higher threshold means I should have an easier time avoiding spikes killing me, but i think for pure 100 to 0 one shots, the higher total hp seems better
im assuming if i am above the threshold and I take a huge hit, it basically ignores Endurance, i guess if that's not correct it might change things

there is any build which use shotgun/overlap damage as main damage mechanic (for shotgun scale projectiles and for overlap scale aoe)
The node that gives ward when you spend 40 mana on a skill is very useful for defense, IMO.
Because you constantly meet this condition with the right skill.
Multi shot is the main one, but a few skills have pseudo shotgunning or AoE overlapping

None of those launch their projectiles at the same time though, they're all sequential which means the subsequent projectiles from a single use can still hit the same target (with the kinda exception of Earthquake's aftershocks which will only generate 1 per target but can overlap if the chosen targets are close enough).

The training dummy isn't an enemy so it probably doesn't trigger.

depending on how much ED you allready have adding another 200% is not really much
The only thing you can't change about your character is the mastery choice. Skills and passive points can be respecced pretty easily, so switching builds within the same class and mastery is just a matter of gold to change passives and time to relevel skills, which can be trivial in high level content.
But the game is overall pretty intuitive. Some of the tooltips could be more descriptive, but the general rules apply in 95% of cases.

The game has already received an overhaul, but many models are outdated and will see changes. This will take another year at least, judging by the frequency/timespan of other changes, so if you wanna get the game later and not now then that's a good decision.

The daggers are throwing attacks, the easiest way would probably be to put 5 points into Coated Darts & get as much attack speed as possible since that'll add a ####ton of flat fire throwing damage.

That's not the case. If it was so, increased duration would lower the DPS and be a pretty bad stat. So the Will 100% increase ignite duration make it do 74 over 6 seconds? is correct. It won't affect the DPS of the ailment, but it will affect the overall damage, just spread out over a longer period of time.

yeah im trying to make some tanky ignite marksman build working fine so far still trying to figure out where to get fire damage leech
but overall getting 100% glancing blow + lots of dodge on marksman seems easy on dot based skill since there are not too many dot points on tree
ignite doent seem to be as strong as poison tho
for a beastmaster with ~41% reduced damage taken, whats a good amount of life at lvl 85? have 1.7k. seems a tad low, though
hey, does this point in anomoly's skill tree apply to all time-rot even if applied through a different skill?
If you activate Anomaly and then use Void Cleave to apply time rot it will increase the effect/duration of time rot applied by Void Cleave. This node isn't active however if Anomaly isn't active when the time rot is being applied.
I think the confusing part is that DoTs are presented as 37 damage over 3 seconds, ignite does 12.3 damage per second baseline, increasing the duration makes more sense when DoTs are presented in the damage they deal per second.
Where as unless the game guide is wrong, the gameguide presents ignite as dealing 37 damage total over 3 seconds. instead of just listing a dps.
Ya got it. Do same damage per second but for longer time result in more total damage per stack

Yes, that should work on your ignites form Cinder Strike.
Though the Fire Walker node appears to be bugged so it's entirely possible the Combustible node doesn't work with the ignites from Burning Daggers either
Also i noticed nodes on cinder doesnt work on daggers even the mode damage dagger nodes dont incrrase their damage

It depends how much shred you have
pen & shred are additive with each other & multiplicative with everything else.
So I got upto 60% pen from javelin tree, 16% from paladin tree and upto 40% pen from shock on bosses from stomrtide+shock weapon, etc.. Is lightning shred from the blessing worth it or the % lightning dmg might be better ?
Not sure, you could get shred from a blessing & pick up something else in a skill tree or item.

Shock is too good to give up cos stun and 1 pt in tree is needed for pathing(I have 2 cos it seemed to give more dmg over mighty delivery

They both affect the same thing in the damage calculation (the target's resist) which is why they're additive with each other & like everything else, they have diminishing returns.
Fire Walker doesn't affect the ignite from Burning Daggers
Usually shred is the strongest dps blessing in the game by far for everything that doesnt have snail slow hit rate

The only skills that don't have functioning tooltips are minion skills. Not all effects can be taken into account in tooltips.

The tool tip only show "dps" that probably isnt accurate aswell

If I’m not mistaken, the ailment chances on the character screen only display the global chance and doesn’t take into account sources like skill nodes (if active skill like ignite and fireball)

All unique / set i found up to lvl 70 are minions
Also with acol/prim being like 6 masteries that push summons out of like barely masteries
Others dont need more minions
And sent got forge
For me its turn off especially since these classes punish tooo hard for not using summons
Acolyte is missing a non-minion mastery, primalist I would argue is the worst off of the three in terms of non-summoning build adversity

Primalist is the worst off for that, the devs would like all of them to have minion and non-minion options. I’m hoping the Druid rework will bring that build diversity for non-minion builds into play. So I do agree with the Primalist class that diversity is severely lacking
Mage, Rogue, and Sentinel all have great non-minion class diversity, Acolyte would need to be Lich but I’m probably overlooking a build
I haven't played much prim but I think there are a few non minion right ? Avalanche proc, viper strike, swipe werebear/beastmaster(shark stack got nerfed tho)

No their damage isnt good enough to be main also.. Their skill tress kinda pressure into having totems and minions and even spell damage points on passive tree is like tripple if you have active minion.. The class punish you for not using them.. Its bad. Even the damage of the mastery bonus is under condition of totem.. Also all items dropping on lvling phase is minion

Im fine with building been playing poe since beta.. Got experience in building.. However game still small and minions are huge part of this small game. For me if they push that further and pressure more into minions and make it bigger part than its now for me it would push me away its alot already

If you want to stay in Reaper form longer, your only options are more hp, life on hit & leech. If you've taken the nodes like Unclosing Wounds, there's a passive in the Lich tree that reduces the health drain from them.
Crimson Gluttony (Acolyte passive) & Volatile Blood (Lich passive) are the only ones

Generally just Soul Maw in the lich tree is enough to keep you in reaper for multiple minutes

Hey y'all, coming back after a while and looking for good dot builds. I've run a poison lich before (poison was awesome with stacking damage) but I really don't like the lich form. That mechanic is not for me. Was looking at warpath bleed or time rot, but I'd be interested to know what people are using to decay screens at a time.

Yeah I saw that! Looks really cool. Do you have any suggestions for evaluating whether builds are like, broken, or viable for fun, or whatever without trying them out myself? Unless they're advertising "Arena 478,655!!!!!11!!" I have no idea which are S vs A vs whatever tiers. I just don't know much about the state of the game right now.
I think the meta of the game is still evolving rapidly enough that there aren't definitive build tiers.
for the most part, any reasonably built character can get into empowered content and do it comfortably
Some stuff obviously performs well overall, but a lot of options have yet to really be explored.

it's only if you want to push into deeper corruption levels or the arena leaderboard that you need to consider different skills
but I strongly believe that basically everything can be built in a way to be good enough to do like 200 corruption ish right now

My suggestion would be to toss some stuff together on the build planner and make sure that any unique items you need still allow you to cap out resists and are obtainable before empowered(for first character, at least.)
I would say probably don't consider uniques until you have them, even
obviously some stuff is more deterministically available than others

unless you're building around something easily available as like a monolith boss drop or something

I think the harder part of self crafting now the lack of tooltip or how stuff interact in skill tree and some stuff that should work dont or other way around. But i am having fun crafting my own build here and they all work fine.. I did have to ask community alot for explaining some stuff tho

The tooltips definitely leave a lot to be desired
a lot of what you need to address to get into that higher level content is defenses, though, which are luckily relatively well explained, I think anyways
For sure. I've monolith up to low 70's on a shield throw paladin. Got lucky with some smite idols and that helped. So it's not my first time through, just fighting tooltips like everyone else

The things that used to get me are the procced skills and what does or doesn't affect them and the base damages.
Yeah, I think of a lot of the more uh...arcane or confusing descriptions tend to be in relation to damage scaling/interactions between nodes and subskills and ailments etc
