@abstract pecan eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek..... That was not what I was hoping for 🤣
Well... How is the gameplay for you?
reasonable pace. deliberate. feels alot more like D3 gameplay than the hellbullet sim that POE is.
Thanks for your input. I'm watching a friend play atm. He's showing me the gameplay. So far the game looks not bad, but the slow pace is not my thing. Thanks again.
what level is he at?
@lean charm It's true that the game is rather slow. They try hard to limit movement and the boss fights take a long time to finish.
Generally LE is capturing more of PoE's casual playerbase than the pros.
Im not sure if that's a fair statement. by which, I mean, there are "pros" who like slower gameplay and "casuals" who love the fast pace bullet hell gameplay (which is not hard even for casuals to achieve esp pre 3.15).
Oh, I was trying to use casuals as a measure of playtime rather than skill 😆
LE lets you get your build to a decent place sooner and doesn't take as much learning to make one, but the cap for zoom gameplay is also much lower even if you follow a meta build.
That exact point that makes me play MORE 😂 , the ease of getting to a new build on a new char is amazing imo. I always dreaded making more than one character in each PoE season. I put way more time in LE in a shorter timeframe than PoE
Thanks. Appreciate all the input from you guys.
I haven't played in a few months but last I did play the GPU optimization on the 2080 was terrible. The frame rates were complete crap unless everything was turned way low.
My 6800xt was working overtime but it was able to give playable FPS on higher settings.
Has there been any improvements to this?
They are continually working on performance improvements. It depends on the last patch you played whether or not more improvements have come in or not yet
I would say at least 0.8.2 not sure which revision though. I'm thinking I will probably wait for 0.9 to play again.
is there any information on how the Preparation node in the Mage skill tree interacts with Disintegrate?
Preparation says "Every 3 seconds, your next elemental spell deals increased damage and has a chance to slow enemies on hit"
does this apply to Disintegrate? Disintegrate is definitely a spell, although I imagine since it's DoT the slow enemies part doesn't affect it. but does the increased damage last for the entire time you're channeling? or just the first hit of it? or maybe something else?
The entire channel of Disintegrate benefits from Preparation if that's the spell that consumes it.
Though the slow (probably) wouldn't happen since Disintegrate can't hit.
thanks!
i would say its not worth rn cause there is no mp/trade/any kind of interaction with another player. I would wait some time to get back in the game
hi, did "Chance to Shred Physical Resistance on Hit" from the blessing is like penetration ? and how much did it shred ? thx !
Do we have an idea of how much crit chance monsters have, especially in empowered monoliths (excluding echo crit modifiers) ?
i d say base 5%
I was thinking of something like that but then I don't understand why crit avoidance is so good. I've recently tried to up my defenses with this mod and it makes so much difference
Getting hit by a critical strike is effectively taking 2x damage.
monos can stack up a lot of crit pretty easily to
yeah but I figured if I was dying to crit I would get random one shots, but I felt like the damage I took was high but consistent
crit avoidance makes increased crit chance and crit multi mono affixes free, basically
though later on the increased damage + increased crit chance one becomes dangerous anyways
yeah, maybe I was stacking too much of those without realizing it
I want to gamble an unique item that requires lvl 64. Should I buy items with lvl 64 requirement or the required lvl doesn't matter?
You need to buy specifically the item that unique uses for it base and your character needs to be above level 64
So like...Undisputed is a Welryn Axe, Drelkor's Compass is a Longbow, Valdyr's Chalice is a Silver Grail, Serpent's Milk is a Jade Amulet
ok, thanks!
you are comparing a fully released game to an early access game. not really fair
crafting is good imo
im not trying to be fair im trying to see which one is more worth my money at the moment
because im trying to decide whether to buy GD expansions or LE
Well, GD is a finished game. So yeah. Probably more content overall.
If you know you like GD, you'll probably have fun with it
Depending on your preferences in ARPGs, you might prefer LE and be able to get a lot of time out of the game even though it's unfinished
I personally have about 8x as many hours in LE vs GD
I spend 300 000 gold, about 33 relics, not a single unique 😦
it takes a lot more than that sometimes
what is monolith completion? It says 8/20, but i have done 7 monoliths
Completing Each timeline normally and empowered I believe?
might include completing the different quest options as well?
Makes sense, I did lvl 55 monolith twice, once to unlock lvl 60 and another to unlock lvl 65
Hey guys. A few questions regarding monolith progression and loot system :
-
I've read that the more echo nodes you complete (in a web), the better the loot becomes at the end of a monolith, not related to the modifiers. I think i've read it on reddit. Some user stated that a dev has mentioned it on stream.
-
Does wiping the whole map of monsters, or the amount of time spent on it affects the loot from a chest after completing it ? Quantity/quality ?
-
From the loot quality perspective, is it better to just speedrun monoliths to get to the higher level asap and farm there, or just grind the level you're on currently and do more nodes/resetting it for boss ? That's considering you're strong enough to tackle the higher level.
Hi!
-
Each completed node gives higher item rarity and experience gained, depending on the mods in use. Corruption from defeating the shade of Orobyss also gives similar bonuses.
-
Monolith chest reward item quantity and rarity scales with the number of killed mobs. I don't think it affects node-specific rewards though.
-
Usually it is best to speedrun non-empowered monos, since you get a ton of rewards on the way. There are usually only a few boss items you want for a build, and some of the best items drop from lv100 monos. The Shade drops its rarer items above certain Corruption levels too.
E.: there are bases that are available from level 60-65 too, so you might want to get them faster as well, as you finish the campaign at around lvl 50, if you took most quests.
Thanks for the answer 😄
-
So basically the number of completed echoes DOESN'T affect the loot. I know about the modifiers and corruption, but i was asking about the amount of echoes completed in relation to loot quality. So that was a lie.
-
This one i guessed right then, i also thought that wiping the whole map should improve the loot. Good to know it's confirmed
-
I'm going to speedrun then instead of focusing on lower level ones. I'm currently 75 lvl doing 75 monolith and almost done with it, so i'll just speed through the next one to get to the proper ones
- It sorta does, but it's the mods that determine your iiq/increased exp gain. Mods tend to stay for longer on higher levels, so you can end up with a stack of 6-7 mono mods. And item rarity "is" loot quality. Some blessings also give drop rate bonuses
yeah i understand that, but once again, some guy said that the amount of nodes completed affects the loot quality, outside of modifiers
like it was a separate boost
which is not true from what you're saying and there's no such thing
or he simply meant that the more nodes you complete, the more modifiers for loot rarity apply, but his wording was wrong 😄
I'm assuming the latter ;)
that's why i'm asking here to make sure, cause it didn't seem logical to me for an additional loot improving system to exist without any mention/explanation in game, and LE does it kinda good
thanks again for the clarification
highly appreciated
When I select this node in Earthquake, I still see aftershocks and the hits do the same damage with or without the node. So what's the use of the node? I'd like EQ to deal huge instant hits, should I select the node?
That node should be removing the ability to recreate aftershocks and throw their damage onto EQs initial hit. Sounds like a bug.
!bug
To make sure a bug gets fixed, please post about it here: https://forum.lastepoch.com/c/bug-reports.
I would report it and I’ll look at it today
OK, reported, thanks! 🙂
Sorry, not sure if this is the right place... but is this a bug? 👀
As in x the key? What does x do? 😅
it disables your lootfilter as long as you keep it pressed
Ah, didn't know that. Didn't try it as well... I guess I'll keep that in mind
You might also want to check if you have ground tooltips hidden (Z by default)
Will keep that in mind too. Thanks!
hey is this the right place to ask for help about game performance?
on lowest settings, I get very bad fps
there are some areas in the game that are unoptimized (Twisted Mire is giga bad 😅 )
Am I the only one who sees anything above 60fps as a privilege instead of a basic right?
sure it looks smoother but anything from 60 up is already playable and complaining that something doesn't hit 100fps just feels like people feel unnecessarily entitled to it
that's like saying a jet fighter can roll down the road, why should it even fly
i mean, i don't mean to be rude, but it's a pretty dumb assumption
you do know that this comparison is one of the worst ones there are? It's closer to saying why buy a race car and utilise its entire capabilities to drive at 300 km/h when you can reach your goal just as well with a Ford Focus that can't pass 190 km/h.
what you're saying is taking one capability of something and comparing it with a completely different one of that thing that technically can substitute it in some regards (in this case getting from a to b) but not really.
not really but okay
your comparison is like "this is dumb and dangerous, why use it" vs "this is actual performance quality, why not have less frames"
in any case I can't make this game run at proper framerate yet so I will wait for a fix
CPU pretty much idles, GPU goes up to 100% even in the character selection menu
Hi, I just started, but I plan to make Ice based spellblade. Is it good for this build to spec into Mana Strikes? It's lightning damage and I couldn't find a node to convert it into freeze damage.
on skills they will have an icon on the right
Mana Strike only has lightning
It's typically more useful as a tool to get mana back to use something else, rather than a primary damage source
So basic version of this ability will be enough?
Depends how much mana you need
if the base version is enough mana, then yeah
if you need more or want more attack speed or to make it ranged or whatever
then you'd want to specialize it
if you end up not needing it later, you can despecialize it and use something else
the only thing you can't easily respec in LE is your mastery, which is permanent once chosen
^ to add to this don't be afraid to try out skills
Thanks! One more question. Is there a way to view detailed info/compare weapons on controller?
I have a question about holy aura's specialisation. Are the nodes only applicable when holy aura is activated? Or are they activated by default (passive), but doubles as well when activated?
It depends on the node, but most are passives and doubled when active
is there anything special to do with uniques you don't care about/duplicate uniques with lower rolls or do you just ditch them? Same with exalted items with stats you don't care about?
uniques you can just not pick up or vendor for the small bit of gold
exalted items you can not pick up or shatter to build up your shard inventory
in the event you end up playing something that will want those stats later
or you could stash the exalted items for another build as well, if they've got something good just not for your current build
Hey bois, does the multiplayer has been already released so far?
nope
Does anybody know if there's plans to add sounds for the loot filter (or can you already do that and I'm blind) ?
I believe they've said they're considering sounds/icons for loot filters, but it's something where they don't want it to spam the screen or something? idk
my ideal would be allowing custom sounds to be added and having the possibility of putting arrows in the direction of certain offscreen loot drops, I'm often killing stuff offscreen or behind me as I'm moving and I've almost lost a few very nice items doing that :p but at the same time I don't want to slow down overmuch just to check if something good drops
and the arrow would only show up for stuff that's within like one more screen of distance, just so you don't miss stuff you offscreen
They've said custom sounds would be a definite no, if I remember correctly
I'm still in love with the current loot filter so no complaints :p
did they specify why?
they don't want clowns running around streaming Last Epoch with gachi sounds? ^^
I don't remember the entire reasoning, but it has come up in a few of the dev streams
it's not an uncommon question
might even be a response in the ask the devs channel here
I found some answers searching the discord indeed! thanks
apparently there's a significant technical hurdle for custom sounds to be loaded within the sound mixer/engine(?) without issue, but selectable sounds is on their radar, good enough
thats why i made the mike's voice pack post so they know which sounds we want to add. 😄
I have a newbie question about respecting. Can I transfer points between skills? Ie. Can I move points i invested in glacier into volcanic orb?
no
the only way to get more points in a skill that doesn't require xp is item affixes/effects
each skill has their own progression so being able to level 2 skills to 10, then transfer 10 of them into another to get early access to 20 points would be way too strong
Ok, thanks. So would you recommend cycling through skills I level up, or to stick with the ones I started with?
I'd recommend to find a skill that you like and stick to it. The other slots you can use to experiment a bit but only respec the skill you mainly invested in after getting a good amount of points into your new focussed skill
I like glacier a lot, but I've heard it falls off late game
I think I'll level Mana strike too just to have reliable source of Mana
mana strike with all the mana/crit nodes is great
I think glacier only falls off in the very endgame, if that
it's definitely fine for 80 ish monos which is where my sorc is at at the moment
The one that comes to mind for me is primalist’s serpent strike
Will give it a look, thanks 🙂
though to be fair: Serpent Strike literally says it requires a polearm
Lunge also has a polearm-limited build.
Bladedancer has a few good crit builds where you can use a spear if you don't want to dual wield.
That’s a pretty cool concept with blade dancer
SS just pops out as it’s a weapon type specific skill and is vital for poison primalist builds
I do think dual wielding comes out on top on Bladedancers. Taking 15% more damage isn't a big downside for dodge-based builds.
You should ask Llama, who made a nice two-hander build for Rogue ^^
Btw on other server my friend y asking about endgame on last Epoch. How it looks, what's planned and how fun it is compared to the competitors?
can anyone help me understand the ramifications of Firebrand>Ardent Branding?
I'm not sure what it means by 'scale' in this context, or what attack speed sources might be dropped.
It no longer benefits from any attack speed in its tree, on gear, via passives, etc.
It only ever has its base attack rate, plus potentially the attack speed per stack from Fulmination
by base attack rate, this is by weapon? or does the skill itself have one
I believe the base attack rate is 1/sec?
Weapon speed is a more multiplier to attack speed, so I don't think it would be impacted by that
rather than weapon speed being a base itself
so then, using a big slow weapon would theoretically be best
since it wouldn't effect the brand atkspeed
If you're trying to use firebrand as a damage source, perhaps
Though, I think if you were trying to use Firebrand as your primary damage source you would probably not want to take Ardent Branding
Well, I'm trying to get as much as I can out of Fire Aura actually, and looking at the various way to scale that.
ah
I think you can get chance to gain a fire aura on melee attack? so attack speed is potentially valuable there
yeah I was pretty sure I didn't want Ardent Branding, but I couldn't parse out the exact effect
at the moment, the idea is to walk around branding stuff and just... burn things passively
You might look into use Surge too
It should play pretty well with Firebrand and the Blade Weaver passive node
I'd been planning nova+teleport to proc some of those buffs
but I will look into this too 😄
Surge can proc Fire Auras, several per cast
and I believe Blade Weaving should apply to Fire Auras from Surge?
oh really?
Yeah, Blade Weaver gives its bonus to spells triggered by the attack that consumes the stacks, and Fire Aura is a spell
For potentially 10 fire aura stacks per cast of Surge, if your attack speed is high enough
oh dang that's rad
Hi, I'm looking for someone who wouldn't mind taking some B-roll footage of this game for me it's for my upcoming project where i discuss the current state of ARPG Dungeon Crawlers as I am a partaker of such material. Optional credit if you so wish in the video and of course I am happy to share to you my content so you can see the sort of style I'm going for, if it isn't to your interest I will not be offended. Anyone who like to volunteer please hit me up here on discord I will need about 45 to an hours worth of footage.
might get better results directly messaging streamers/youtubers who have Last Epoch content
does attack speed make warpath deal damage faster?
yes
thanks
which is the max lvl for an item?
items don't have levels
level requirement? I think 85?
Though next patch I believe Quiet's new gloves will be 91
I mean lvl requirement. Is it lvl 85 for all type of items (swords, gloves, helmet, etc..)?
No
it varied by specific item
I think the highest base is...78?
then uniques are higher
But yeah, it's different from item type to item type
They do have levels, they just aren't shown if you meet or exceed them.
They have character level dependencies, but they do not themselves have levels. In Path of Exile items have levels too, which is relevant to that game's mod system. That's probably why people ask that question sometimes.
But in LE there's no difference between the character level requirement & the item level (unlike PoE & D2, not sure about D3 or GD).
There is a difference in the context of what that can mean. Words and the potential understanding of how they apply matter, have to be specific with answers.
yo guys! is there a way to apply timer to buffs/debuffs?
Other than what is currently supported, no
Though I believe it's a request the devs are aware of
ah that would be nice:p
I agree, but since in LE item level = character level requirement, my answer was correct. The character level requirement is the higher of the item base level and the number & tier of affixes.
You are incorrect. They are two separate concepts, they can't be the same thing. Character level dependency and item level are not the same thing. Both concepts exist separately in game design and for that reason it is important to distinguish them as separate things, even if one doesn't exist currently in this particular game. There are a lot of people, especially recently, coming from a game that has both concepts and will be asking questions from that perspective. Accuracy in words is important for the conveying of concepts accurately.
For instance a lot of people confuse triggering with "autocasting" and they aren't the same thing. Certain mechanics care whether you cast something or not, and triggers do not work with that. So we don't use the word autocasting for triggers because otherwise it implies you cast when you didn't.
Is it worth resetting the echo web and increase the corruption? I'm doing lvl 90 echoes
Does adaptive spell damage have any effect on Fire Aura damage?
It's flat added right? The type becomes variable?
yep
can other sources of flat added damage apply to it as well?
alright thanks
Trying different equipment and stuff, but checking the damage on the dummy is kind of clunky
Typically not until you get to level 100 echoes. Though the difference is pretty small if you're just going for quest echo completion
a difference of maybe 1-2 echoes
Ok, thanks again Arborus!
Basically, if you want to kill it, you're not shooting yourself in the foot if you do
but if you only care about quest echo completion, it's slower to kill orobyss
Yeah, i want to rush for lvl 100 echoes
is there a way to see %chance to shred armour
on the stat sheet i do not see anything
Not yet
What is the average campaign completion time
5-6 hours at a leisurely pace
3-4 hours if you're focused on finishing
2 hours or less for speedruns
first clear always slow
after remaking 6 characters i was able to make it in 4 hours
Will Tempest Strike be good with the proposed tri-pen changes?
does class specific armor have a chance of rolling +1 to skills for that class? im trying to get more +1 to summon wolf
so i could gamble on a bunch of primalist helms and eventually should get some +1 summon wolf on some rare helms?
Yes and one way of doing it is by making new primalist just to reach council chambers to gamble
That way you have higher chance of getting it
oh, the helms will be cheaper, is that why?
They will be cheaper and the affix pool is smaller
is that because summon wolf is a lower level skill, and more skills get added as you go up in levels to the gambler?
Yes since you can get it at level 4 there won't be many other class-specific affixes in general at that level
then buff it as much as i can with frenzy totem, warcry and get some benefit from entangling roots
You can only get +4 to a skill as a T7 roll of the affix, which cannot be crafted, just so you know.
I don't think so, you can use sites like lastepochtools.com or tunklab to see the different affixes and what gear they can go on. I believe they're only available on one piece of equipment but I could be wrong.
no
+4 on helm and then some uniques have +1 all skills or +1 all minion skills etc
that's what i was asking earlier
i probably didn't word my question so clearly
Each skill has a class specific affix on helm, chest, or relic depending on the skill that maxes out at +4 to that skill at T7. To get higher than +4, you'll need to find uniques that grant additional skill levels, of which there are only a few and likely even fewer that will apply to the specific skill you want to boost
and do not plan about +4 ... i found a grand total of 2 +4 items in like 200 hours
even +3 is rare .... like - do not expect to find a +3 of the skill you want
recently bought the game, got a acolyte at 58 atm, but Im thinking of making a melee char/build, any suggestions?
bladedancer is cool, if you like cyclone/whirlwind playstyles you can do that as sentinel with warpath. Not familiar with the other melee builds :p Primalist can definitely do it well too
aah thx 😄
sentinel gets quite some new toys next patch
so if you want try this ... maybe wait a week 😉
I'd wait on playing Primalist till after the patch since it gets new models and armor models
trying a bladedancer until then hehe 😄
In other games, yes. But in LE, item level & character required level are the same number. You can't drop a lvl 50 base in a zone below lvl 50, similarly, you can't equip it if you're below lvl 50. As I've said before, I agree that they are different things in PoE, D2, etc, just not in LE. LE does some things differently than other games.
From memory, in games where item lvl != character level, the item level is used to determine what lvl zone it can drop in as well as what the maximum tier of affixes it can get.
The character required level is usually a very similar number to the item lvl.
In LE, the character required level is the higher of the item base lvl (75 for a Dawn Blade) and the affixes/tiers on it.
how important is it to overcap resistances in this game? and how exactly does that equation work because sometimes i'll put on a ring with like 10% of a certain res, and that res gets overcapped by a 100% after previously being only about 70%
It can be nice to be able to run mark for death echoes without a care or you're really worried about relatively rare mobs with resistance shred, but you generally want your res as close to 75 as possible
In your specific case, your ring probably has an affix and implicit that add the same resistance type, because the formula is just addition
but not necessarily required to overcap like it is in grim dawn?
where if you don't overcap you just die sometimes?
No, resistances are a bit different
Mark for death is still scary, but I think having lowered res isn't a multiplicative damage taken like it is in poe or gd
okay
cuz i'm sitting in the build planner being worried about whether or not i need everything overcapped
and now this means i can save some passive points knowing i don't need hella overcap necrotic or poison on a lich lol
In higher content you'll need to worry about other defensive layers like endurance, armor, dodge, glancing blow, etc, so you need your affixes to be as efficient as possible
Which means not overcapping res too hard
Oh and life
okay, i'm used to grim dawn where resistances are the most important thing, and then you work your way through to dmg asborp and cc
But early on, 75 all res is generally enough
okay, i'm used to grim dawn where resistances are the most important thing, and then you work your way through to dmg asborp and cc
Res is your first defensive layer, but in empowered it can't be your only one
yeye
If you're still leveling and working your way up, it's not the biggest deal
just wanted to know what's important for the defense and stuff, because grim dawn knowledge doesn't exactly translate for me sometimes
leech seems extremely powerful in this game since you can leech from dots and there's no leech cap from what I've seen
2 of my chars can basically facetank anything at lvl 80 just from basic defenses and good leech
I'm assuming this won't work in empowered tho :p
oh yeah, leech is amazing on the lich, combined with reaper form and death seal, you're pretty safe
yeah i noticed using drain life was really nuts
facetanking is not advised, but i play like a dummy on my lich and still die pretty rarely
i'm trying to build more for harvest since i like brawlers in-game, but i also couldn't find any builds with drain life in it.
Harvest ll bleed lich is the best looking char ingame 👀
Exangious, the scythe from formus and the shield with the skeleton on it = style
How'd reduced mana cost interact with disintegrate cost again? Just reduces the upfront, right?
Like flat reduced mana cost? like on a weapon?
That should just be the upfront, yeah
mana efficiency/any mana reductions in disintegrates tree should impact the channeling cost I think?
Yes, they do. And weapon implicits affect the channelling as well, but I think I recall that added mods don't.
Ended up fracturing the item sooner anyways^^
if an item has "x% of damage done to mana before health" does that also skip ward too?
or does that only happen once ward is 0?
hey, new to the game and have a question: when a node of a skill is talking about "out of mana" is it talking about not having enough mana to cast the skill (w/o going into the negatives) or having above 0 mana?
0 mana or negative mana @kind vapor
okay, so is the Won't back down node in the Multishot tree bugged then? i see the mana cost go back to its original when i have 1 or more mana yet it only fires 1 arrow until i have more or equal to the original mana cost, then it shoots 5 arrows again. to me the node means it should 5 arrows when having 1 or more mana
okay, so is the Won't back down node in the Multishot tree bugged then? i see the mana cost go back to its original when i have 1 or more mana yet it only fires 1 arrow until i have more or equal to the original mana cost, then it shoots 5 arrows again. to me the node means it should 5 arrows when having 1 or more mana
assuming what you said is right that is
I would assume the calculation is slow, I've certainly used spells like glacier at -10 mana before and can usually channel a good while into negative mana.
the calculation is not slow I believe, the mana cost updates whenever your mana goes above 0 but it will only start shooting more than 1 arrow once your mana is above the mana cost of the skill itself
if I have two different items with "X% to cast flame aura on kill", do those numbers stack for that flame aura? or do they each have their own individual chance to cast it?
so if I had two items with "10% chance..." would I then have a 20% chance to cast flame aura when killing an enemy? or is it 10% from one item and 10% from the other, each with their own cooldown?
it would be 20%
thank you!
Imagine the same two objects, one object with an useful tier 5 prefix/suffix and the other object with three useful suffixes/preffixes but all tier 3. Which one would you forge?
The second one. You might be successful just reducing the instability that your 4th craft causes for some 2 or 3 tiers.
Then get your most important stat up to 5 with guardian scrolls.
But I don't know how instability impacts calculations and they also intend to tinker with it, so wait for a more reliable source^^
Both? I tend to just go for crafts on anything that has the even remote potential to be an upgrade/useful
the second one is gonna be more likely to succeed, though
Surge>Shocking Blows adds Lightning Melee Damage. I assume this is added and stays lightning even if the base skill is converted to fire. No?
I choose my first mastery! And with that I would like to change the skill I specialize in, is it possible? And if yes - how can I do that?
go into the skill's tree you want to get rid of, in the top right corner you have the respec button. It will give you the choice of respeccing and despecializing
OK, thanks!
It'll be hard to say goodbye to the skill I pput so much effort into... Maybe I should wait for fourth specialization slot to open?
The node Flaming Surge specifies that only the base damage is converted. So yes the damage added by Shocking Blows will continue to be Melee Lightning Damage.
up to you. 34 isn't that hard to reach
thanks
Maybe I'll wait... Still, with the build I plan to make I'll have to despecialize in one skill sooner or later. I'm spellblade and plan to go with shatter strike, surge and enchant weapon while retaining mana strikes for mana gain/secondary damage type. And it seems I have to let go of either glacier or elemental nova. Or should I keep both and resign from something else?
as spellblade you'd probably be better off to let go of both glacier and ele nova considering you already want to run shatter strike, mana strike, surge and enchant weapon. Rather take Flame Ward as a 5th skill as a safety net that you can just cast instantly
Lightning Blast is also a viable choice if you want to proc it with Surge
Hmmm, the problem is I want to make cold build and I really like glacier. Well, at worst I'll made sucky character.
scaling shatter strike and glacier isnt going to work well since they scale of different base damages.
wait, I confuse Surge with Static...
though you still could cast Lightning Blasts with Surge
and Lightning Blast can be converted to cold
fuck now I want to build a cold LB proc build...
🤔
Maybe I should go with Sorcerer instead, but well, choice has been made
at least it doesn't take long to level a char to that point again
Yeah, maybe I'll just level up again to take Sorcerer
If I try to roll a unique and I do it at a lower level, will that give me less armor or other stats? I want the +1 maximum companions from artor's legacy, but don't want other stats to be gimped.
nah, there's no such thing as item level. When you drop a unique all stats will be rolled according to the stat range no matter what level you're at
Just started lvl 100 echoes but im dying a lot, for now i'll do normal echoes. Any advice?
what class?
are you crit avoidance capped? endurance capped if not ward-based?
what's your method of getting hp back?
did you pick multiple damage modifiers?
Druid, bleed build with swipe. I build Attack speed, phys damage, Dot. Not sure about the other things 😅
hmm, should be pretty heckin tanky then as a druid
could you upload your character to the build planner and post the share link https://www.lastepochtools.com/planner/
Build Planner that allows to customize any aspect of Last Epoch character build including equipment, passives and skills
Sure! Im not in game now, let me share my build tomorrow
Sure thing
The damage and HP % from corruption has to be multiplicative, right?
it is
how i should lvl up the volcanus paladin (its still relevant in this patch ?)
maybe you want wait one week till you know the new skill tree of warpath (i guess you do warpath) - or you respecc later if thats no concern
tbh i realy want to try it ijust not sure how to lvl it
you can level it like a normal warpath hit build?
eye of reen is no longer low level so i guess ignite from the start is not very nice anymore
warpath leveling is just "grab a nice 2h" - build manacost down and hit damage / area up - whirl
takes you to MoF normaly
mof?
what is stand for
and i guess i will go as you said and thats it
never lvld a warpah before
monolith of fate
warpath leveling always felt chilled to me
dont worry its fine
thanks for the heads up
Cheers. Figured that's probably why shit started to really hurt at 300+ corruption 🤔
you get higher modifiers too with more corruption
MP already out yet?
no
!multiplayer
Multiplayer is still being worked on. Here's an update: https://forum.lastepoch.com/t/official-last-epoch-multiplayer-faq/42036.
to all
yo all
game in multiplayer have only coop with friends? yes
no have match making play with party?
when release MP
or simmilar city with people poe
I will transfer the game to the engine 4 engine or something that would be better optimization or it will not pay off because the game is not popular
or what engine 🙂
crytek? 🙂
Multiplayer's still in development. Here's the latest news: https://forum.lastepoch.com/t/official-last-epoch-multiplayer-faq/42036.
ah unity unity no cant optimalize to many animations 🙂
i work in unity engine
on my game 😄
private
the game will be hard to optimize, you would have to worsen the animation and the visuals of the animation
1 cores usage so hard to optimalize effect animations 🙂
crytek engine much better 😉
you will work on this engine, will you change to another engine or improve, you will be in the game as it is
I asked about the multiplayer how it will look, it is not a difficult question to give a bot to the bot that sends me to the website, I wanted to ask if it was a cooperation with a friend or an open mutiplayer as in path of exile
playing with a friend is like offline mode just adding a player to the team
will it look like a multplayer like I prefer
wolcen<
ty for info
it will be server authoritative, not Peer 2 peer
Guys when will the dev stream be today? Im on europe time and dont wanna miss it again 🙂
is there a general rule of thumb for preferring "Increase" or "add"? or it really depends?
add is your friend because thats what increase scales off of
in theory increases are more potent once the value goes above 100 but that obviously depends on the stats youre talking about
ah okay. thats helpful enough, thanks! 😄
;p
When a patch makes changes to items, does it leave the previous dropped items alone and apply changes to future items or does it apply the change to old items too?
Is the current crafting system final? It is becoming incredibly frustrating trying to get the gear I need with all this RNG in the way
they want to add more down the line, but this is the core crafting
God it really sucks. Failing these 90% chances to get a tier upgrade so I don't hit like a wet noodle is really sucking and it doesn't feel very reasonable to wait on an item with all the affixes you want on it thus far.
that is the part they want to fix, the feel bad chances
I don't want to whine about it since I know I haven't reached any form of true endgame yet, but having so many layers of RNG to get even something that's just viable is really killing my enthusiasm with this game. I'm going to drop my Acolyte and play the Sentinel when the rework is live because it seems really cool but I have little desire to keep progressing like this...
For the most part, you don’t generally need very good items to progress. There are some core stats to get, but in a lot of cases having an item that is like tier 8-10 is good enough and very achievable, even crafting from a completely blank white base.
i think if you lower your expectations of gear it will help. I just finished with my first solo character and it was night and day a big difference in my ability to progress gear. It took me until level 95 and all completed empowered monos to get my gear to a mostly decent level.
From there, upgrading is just a matter of filtering for drops or gambling when you need to change things up to account for new items you find
I guess I should just grind more then
Yea, thats where the fun is (imo)
In my experience, any time I feel like I’m struggling it’s something more fixable via passive/skill respecs or gambling and making some crappy item to bridge me to something better. I’ve rarely felt like I need to really grind out something specific to progress
a good optimized filter goes a very long way btw 🙂
What were you playing on acolyte, btw @fading jackal
Trying to work out a Harvest Lich
I tried setting up the filter to recolor the specific base items with at least 2 of relevant affixes at the moment and it feels alright
what level are you at with it? I've played some harvest this patch
82 atm
oh yeah thats how I have it
really strict but I get items that have a good chance of being good and can finish them off ez
9pm UK time
Thats 10 pm for europe i guess
https://www.lastepochtools.com/planner/DQ9lrYAg
this is the shell I used for my harvest lich, if you want to compare or anything. It felt alright, though it's very much a build that only does damage while Death Seal is active.
Build Planner that allows to customize any aspect of Last Epoch character build including equipment, passives and skills
I kinda glossed thru the story so maybe I missed it, but what was the Immortal Emporer doing in the Temple of Eterra?
It is unknown. Since he is exactly by the last shard of the Epoch, it's possible that he sought its repellent power to keep the Void away from himself, so that he can resist its corruption
we know that Shards can keep the Void away from itself, since the Elders use it in the Council Chambers
Hadn't thought of that. Was he the one talking as we walk through the temple?
no, that's the Epoch (the quest tells about that). As you assemble the Epoch, it calls out for Eterra, but it's only you, and therefore it seems to have lost all hope
and spouts the inevitable coming of Orobyss all along, when it sends you forward in time
Interesting, ty for clarifying.
np
Build Planner that allows to customize any aspect of Last Epoch character build including equipment, passives and skills
You're missing a ton of hp on gear, missing some of the super powerful defensive options availabe to druid
some other stuff
I'm looking through now
is there any way to filter items by item base or not yet?
Like you only want to see certain base types?
like that?
if you pick an item type you can then pick which subtypes you want to see
ahh yeah thanks item type is the rule i was missing my bad 🙂
how important is health in gearing? should i go for vitality or just health related suffixes?
health is huge
ideally you want as many health suffixes as you can get
you want to make sure you're getting your % hp suffixes everywhere possible
and flat hp anywhere else you can
I think i will change my helmet/boots in order to obtain more health
https://www.lastepochtools.com/planner/0QdVM3o2
This would be my first inclination for a route you could go with bleed swipe
Build Planner that allows to customize any aspect of Last Epoch character build including equipment, passives and skills
Gear here is obviously the ideal, but should give you an idea of what to go for, alongside some adjusted passives and skill trees
The goal being to beef up survivability while also making use of the strengths offered by werebear form
primarily being able to scale spell damage as both generic damage and generic crit chance
and using that crit chance to enable permanent werebear uptime
Additional points to spend in the druid tree could be ursine claws, ursine maw, soothing slaughter. or, in the shaman tree, silent protector and totemic fury
D: it seems fun, i will get some spell damage before i change the passives and skills
Definitely
Build Planner that allows to customize any aspect of Last Epoch character build including equipment, passives and skills
those would be some immediate passive changes I would make
that should boost your survivability a fair bit
is added health or increased health better?
increased is much less common, so you want to prioritize getting it anywhere you can
helm, chest, belt, gloves, boots
hybrid health affixes give some flat and some increased and can be put on belt, gloves, boots
and you really only need T3 for them to be super good
would you even prioritize health over armor
Yeah, been gambling for hybrid, been a rough go
unless your build is capable of getting tons of armor, you're fine just sitting around 30-40% DR from armor
eh i almost always got for vit %health and Hybrid on most my builds then stack armor/dodge/ward on what type of build it is. rarely use +/% armor
playing shield throw paladin now
Yeah, Shield Throw is a great example of a build that can easily cap its armor
without needing armor on gear
and everything was fine until i hit empowered monolith lol
but you might use an armor blessing
and i figured my hp is probably too low to tank
what's a good hp amount to aim for as benchmark?
you really want like...1500-2000 hp minimum
lol i have 1097
oof

yeah i saw that video but wasn't convinced all characters must go down that route
yeah cleared up some survival issues for me
eh its not EVERY character but a vast majority do benifit
Basically any character that isn't ward-focused is gonna be pretty in-line with this
donno is there vit and health nodes inside skill trees?
didnt think there was too many
in passives? a lot of them
I think only mage is a bit light on them
but it has a few
hmm i guess i missed them still learning tho 🙂 and everything changing since its beta lol
just spent an hour re-sorting my filter for my flurry/multishot marksman. was a pain since i forgot recolouring also enables show and i kept showing items i didnt want lol
more fire aura questions
there is a passive that gives adaptive spell damage at the cost of casting speed
since I'm never casting fire aura, but getting it from triggers, the penalty should have no effect, right? Or would it reduce the intervals between when I am eligible to generate a stack?
Correct, there's no cast speed
is it just me or shied throw is not as strong 1 v 1
im taking so long to kill golem lol
I can't make up my mind so I'm gonna let people do it for me. Should I play Lich or Naruto Bladedancer?
Single target definitely tends to be its weak point imo
Lich is super good with no gear/items, as poison. Bladedancer is great, but I think takes more investment to really pop off. Both of them feel super nice to play though, imo.
Lich is my personal favorite
Can you gain ward during Death Seal?
no
it removes all ward and prevents you from gaining ward
but Death Seal is exceptionally powerful
super super strong ability
I have some videos of gameplay on my youtube, if you want to see what that is like
I wanted to see how quickly this could be done and ended up being way faster than I initially estimated.
I have zero clue what's going on here ngl
lots of damage over time
Lich looks neat but I just did a 1 - 70 run with necromancer so I'm afraid it's gonna feel same-y lol
ah, I would say they tend to feel pretty different
and Spirit Plague + Wandering Spirits is a super great leveling setup
like from level 15 on you'll just fly through stuff
Eh h*ck it I'll go lich
Is poison or necrotic better? I see there's a way to convert wandering spirits to poison damage.
As someone who did that same thing lich is way more fun
poison is better as your overall build theme/goal
but poison node in wandering spirits does nothing, though
it isn't a good node, even for a dedicated poison build
What as in it's broken?
the main damage from wandering spirits comes from Spectral Putrescence
which applies poisons using your poison chance
the touch/contact damage of wandering spirits is entirely irrelevant, basically
Ah okay.
Build Planner that allows to customize any aspect of Last Epoch character build including equipment, passives and skills
there's a planner for my poison lich set up
if you want some direction
If you use necrotic on hit for Wandering Souls you can use the mod in Death Seal to spawn a ton of them for huge dps during leveling
I'm still pretty new so I'm not gonna have a lot of uniques
Never had such an easy time in this game lol
Yeah, it's mostly for the passives/skills, and the type of mods you'd want on gear
the build needs no uniques/specific gear
it is incredibly starter/solo friendly
How can i know if my character is solo? I don't remember and i want to share my stash for my next character D:
LOL I found the filter in the first screen
You can also open up the character sheet and it will say in the top right corner.
Hi all
Question: Does Eterra's Blessing not apply buffs when minions are on full heath? I've maxed out the aoe chance and a few extra effects, theoretically should be seeing my wolves all get buffed in a single cast, but it never seems to be the case, same with clearing the howl cooldown I invested into
I've even tried watching specifically while standing in aoe degens, still no buffs happening, unless their natural regen is too much to count as damaged?
Hi! do we know when multiplayer is coming?
!multiplayer
Multiplayer's still in development. Here's the latest news: https://forum.lastepoch.com/t/official-last-epoch-multiplayer-faq/42036.
Thanks! I was a bit confused reading the "multiplayer progress update" in steam sounded like it was released:P
As I understand it, the blessing buffs the TARGET and not anyone it heals. So there shouldn't be any AoE buffs ever.
Does anyone know what the droprate is for the unique/set items from empowered bosses?
The empowered specific drop is generally like 10-15%
I believe the empowered specific drops are on a separate loot table from the normal ones?
then the two normal drops are generally like 85 and 15
It depends on the unique, bosses can have a rare unique(s) that drops less often.
ah ok, so the empowered boss can still drop the most common drop
Yeah
I knew the regular table but this is the first time i actually cleared an empowered timeline, trying to get wings of argentus
Empowered bosses can have other set/uniques drop that are rarer that are specifically for empowered monolith.
Good luck with Wings. Depending on your luck it can be a long one
took me 31 kills to get my first one
oh i know, i did regular formosis 10 times and still didnt get last steps of the living (and than it dropped on the first try with a different character lol)
Wings are very good, so they are rarer than other common uniques
Wings is a sweet item though, definitely worth the time and effort
Yeah im planning on leveling a spell warpath when the patch drops and wings seem perfect for that
Sounds like it would be really strong
Tried to find help with one thing in other discussions with no luck. Maybe someone here will know. I would like to ask for skills which have chance to be cast multiple times (aka shatterstrike tripple cast, or lightning blast dualcasts. How are they treated? As one spell for passive bonuses calculations or separate ones? For example, passive - your next spell every few secs will do more dmg and slow. Is that for first cast of LB, ignoring double casted ones? Or for shatterstrike passives in late tree, skill with cost 10+ mana consuming charges and doing higher dmg. Does that work with 1/3 shatterstrikes cast or all of them since they come from single cast?
Do mechanics that "ignite/poison/etc. every second" utilize your ignite/poison/etc. chance to apply more than one ailment with each tick?
yes
Hello, is possible respec mastery?
It's intentionally impossible.
ty
if you talking something like Aura of Decay, it will not use your poison on hit chance. something needs to have a "hit" in order to proc ailments on hit
Yeah, as @terse roost says, not necessarily. Some will some won't.
The ones that don't are usually skills that have the DoT tag (though if it then says that the skill uses your ignite/bleed/etc chance per second then it will).
Infernal shade has such a node, for example. Or acid flask's poison pool.
They're both different cases, and in both cases I can't tell^^
Infernal Shade, probably not as it's a DoT that doesn't say it does
Same for Poison Pools.
Gonna log onto the acolyte after this boss, but generally they're phrased e.g.:
"...has a 20% chance to ignite each second".
So I was wondering if these only apply one ignite stack per second if they trigger, or as many as your total ignite chance on hit would apply.
The ones that do will specify that they take your % chance to ignite/etc & apply it per second
these skills not taking your on hit chance is generally why they dont scale super great
Well understated 😆 I'll steer clear of them where I can
i mean they aren't "bad" necessarily. they just probably cant be the only source of that ailment if thats the build goal
A lot of them are pretty weak, yeah
Exactly. Many of these skills don't get other sources of that ailment, so it's better to skip the node and the related ailment altogether.
stuff like acid flask is more of a support skill for ailments, rather than a main applicator
How good does Bladedancer play as a melee character? Is it mechanically engaging with combos or smth? Harvest Lich just isn't clicking with me and I want to wait until Acolyte gets more of it's stuff before I go back.
Pretty decently? Shadow Cascade is generally a 2-3 button playstyle where you set up with one skill and trigger a ton of slices with another
there's some gameplay from my current shadow daggers guy, which gets rid of the slice on shadow cascade in exchange for spewing a nova of daggers
what is dancing strikes doing?
whats not specialized there? sync strike?
yeah
very much a work in progress still
Build Planner that allows to customize any aspect of Last Epoch character build including equipment, passives and skills
just got the character to empowered the other night, so working on blessings atm
is the next update the multiplayer patch ?
No
hey guys, before i waste time of support, am I being pepega? Why I can't unlock the Fall of the Empire? I did everything around, some of them twice in hope the path from rocks will appear... no luck 😦
some of them on 100, does that unlocks the path?
There's 2 ways to unlock the Fall of the Empire, either from Blood, Frost & Death or from Ending the Storm.
Did both, on normal lvl then 100
Both monoliths have a point where you make a choice. In Blood Frost & Death you choose which mono to unlock in the first quest echo, you've chosen one path (blood clan or frost clan), you need to choose the other.
then kill Formosus
How do you choose that?
In the first echo, you talk to one of the clan leaders
so back to Blood frost & death from start?
read the text when you talk to the leader, it'll say which one you unlock
Same in Ending the Storm, when you talk to Liath, you either fight her (unlocks Reign of Dragons) or don't (unlocks Fall of the Empire)
That's for Fall of the Outcast, you can re-do it to unlock the other one (as you have)
Yes, it's the 80 timeline
well at least i got good gold drop blessing lol
so the shortest path now would be to go do Ending of Storm
choose to not fight liath
thanks guys!
i must have missed the moment of choice
i've thought i've read all dialogs already 😄
The choice has pink text to show which timeline you unlock next
I've did both, neitehr unlocked the Fall though, will try via Liath now
Lathi will show an unlock option and a dialog option, if she doesn't show you the timeline you want; the dialog option will change that to the option you want.
@fierce kraken do choices matter here now?
yes
this was the moment
click "Let go" you get option to unlock TImeline lvl 80
speccing "void smite" in VK and the lightning conversion in the smite tree gets you? void or lightning smite?
Full void!
Gear-based conversion happens after passives-based conversion happens after skill-tree-based conversions.
https://www.lastepochtools.com/planner/YQWdm4B7 I am building a HC VK, this is the farthest I have reached in HC till now. Any suggestion by HC experts are welcome
Build Planner that allows to customize any aspect of Last Epoch character build including equipment, passives and skills
Gear/Idol Question: Should I be using the Idols to maximize resistances or gear?
Up to you. Idols can offer things gear can't but you'll always need to use a couple general idols and if it makes it easier for you then you can use them for resists
is there any explanation about the endgame systems the devs are planning to implement in the future, i mean i saw the road map - but reading up on them would be cool if there is any information?
Nope, no info at all
There is a sentence or two about them on the wiki, but they're not confirmed and are from a few years ago; essentially first ideas
anyone playing with geForce now?
how can i import item filter?
I can't open filter folder
It only takes a few minutes to setup a filter so you should be fine
can you not copy paste into geforcenow?
this is ridiculous
how do i sell stuff in one click
shift+right click
Is there a specific way to spec Dancing Strike? It feels rather weak at lvl 45 halfway through campaign and am unsure if it's supposed to be main damage or something to weave in between the bigger stuff.
As a main damage skill it's quite weak
primarily used to apply shadow daggers, create shadows, and for its arena and rhythm buffs
Mostly used to supplement things like Shadow Cascade
Hello, did i setup the filter right?
I wanted all idols to show up red if they have "of insulation"/elemental resist on them, but its not working, any ideas?
thanks in advance!
Hi just a little question, do i have create a new Charackter with the new update or not? Would love to just change some skills from my sentinel that i play atm.
No, you dont. The devs dont plan to reset current characters at all, although they will be offline only when multiplayer launches.
So you can just respec/alter your current build when the patch drops
build yourself, this is not poe ... a basic filter that gets most stuff of what you wants takes 5 minutes to build
did you select the elemental res affix in idols?
can you recolor idols at all? tbh i am not even sure
you can
yeah i did @random dock but its not working, (selected all 9 idols, to show red if they have elemental resistance / of insulation)
dropped an idol that should be red, but isnt
so you have ele res selected here?
yeah, you have to make sure you select the idol affix, and not a general affix (As those are for everything isnt an idol)
yeah Im assuming he selected the general affix
So i'm thinking about creating bleed(+poison?) marksman build. And from what i see: will puncture + multishot work or there is something with it?
Or maybe flurry will be better than puncture due to increased effect points?
I can see like puncture is all about bleed but there's too much chance points and nothing about increasing DoT damage except for Efficacious toxin (which gives 10% increased dot)
Did you consider Hail of Arrows? It's already a DoT skill and it has bleed support
Flurry is generally the better bleed skill than puncture since it applies way more bleeds simply through hitting more frequently.
ahhhhh, thanks thanks @random dock @dense remnant
didnt know idol had their own affixes
Hellpppp... didnt play for like 5 months, now when i try game doesnt even start.... its just freezing... should i reinstall or something?
Yes, I suggest you try to repair with Steam client
Verify integrity of local files, then reinstall if it doesn’t work
There's no way to tell which monoliths are gonna have spires, is there?
(Just ran into one with my smelter's wrath build, you can guess what happened)
nope
Yes, not sure about the directory atm
AppData/LocalLow/Eleventh hour games/Last Epoch/Saves apparently
At least, that's what I found
Teleport skill for the sorcerer is a must have?
It's pretty great
Not necessarily.It is nice though
Currently at lvl 28 I'm maxing out Glacier (primary DPS skill), Fire Ward converted to Ice, Mana Strikes and I'll think I'll go with Teleport next
For the final skill I plan to go with Black Hole just because it's cool xD . And with Binary Stars since it's even cooler I think secondary damage would be nice, since I expect enemies resistant to cold to eventually show up
Sorry if my thoughts are noobish, but I'm not veteran player of these games... Can I make something that kinda works with these skills or I will lack something essential?
Just so you know, enemies don't really get resistances. You either have to give them resistances yourself (via a Monolith modifier). There will be a few who have resistances, but its not enough to warrant splitting damage types at this point in the games development.
You probably could. Just try and find out, that's where a lot of the fun is (for me anyway) in this game. It might not be the strongest thing ever, and you may have to make adjustments later.
I still have trauma from Titan Quest where I couldn't do my bleed/poison/pierce build since undead were resistant for all these types of damage. I slaughtered everything else only for needing 10 arrows for one skeleton.
Thanks, it's probably what I do, just asking around for some inspiration maybe 😉 . I'm just starting but I have lot of fun so far
Glacier is quite viable from my experience, though you'll greatly benefit from using focus or the 1x free skill from teleport since glacier costs a high amount of mana.
Yup, Im maxing Mana Strikes to regain as much mana as possible, then dash out and use glacier strike again. Though ATM single cast is killing nearly everything except bosses.
That's good to hear. And about the black hole, IMO the damage output is pitiful even if you scale it properly, but you can use it to pull enemies to the same spot and combo that with glacier.
Hmmm, so maybe I'll go with pull/utility nodes instead of damage ones
how often do you reset an empowered echo web?
If you're pushing for corruption, whenever you find a 12 or higher corruption orobyss imo
ok, thanks!
Generally speaking for DoT builds, aside from chance to apply, which is more beneficial: longer duration or ailment damage type increase? Or are both generally equally as important?
duration is harder to find, % for % they do the same but multiply each other so which ever one is lower get that.
does affixes like health on block/crit scale with anything?
or it is flat as per what is on the affix?
I'm new to the game, should I follow someone else's build or should I try something on my own?
I started playing one month ago, i try my own build and have a lot of fun
But are there classes that perform better than others? Or should I avoid any subclasses?
To me the game does this on start usually, but it's because it's loading quite a bit. You running off of SSD, right?
happens to me on every start to. just dont force close it and should be fine
anyone know where i can submit improvement suggestions for lastepochtools?
ouuuu, okay. thanks!
All classes are viable along with their masteries so it’s more about what play style you enjoy most.
You can do either your own build or follow a guide, the endgame content does pretty good power curving so you will naturally evolve your build as you progress in the Monoliths of Fate. The only real question would be if you want to “plug and play” or learn and make something yourself. Everybody has fun differently, I personally do the latter
Some perform more, but there is nothing to avoid. Really, all masteries are totally viable and powerful at high level
How can I ricochet Shield Throw from myself?
ah I got it I think. Aegis makes it ricochet from allies, and shields (Ring of Shields) are allies, right?
yes
how exactly does ailment duration increase work? if I have a bleed that deals 100 over 4 seconds, and I have 30% more duration, what does that amount to? I'm confused on how much is added on the new duration
130 damage over 5.2 seconds
Arb I swear you're like my personal wiki lmao, would you mind showing how you got to that just so I understand how the effect works
i appreciate you 🙏
100 x 1.3
4 x 1.3
duration keeps the dps the same but gives more total damage over a longer duration
scratch what i just said, that was more complicated than it needed to be
it basically just takes a portion of what you apply and adds it on, both duration and damage
So like 100/4 is 25 dps. No matter your duration the dps will stay 25/sec.
duration will then add extra ticks and partial ticks, increasing the total damage of each application
so like with 30% duration you'd get 5 ticks of 25 and a partial tick of 5
Based on a quick and not very controlled test whatsoever on the training dummy, it seems as though DoTs tick twice per second. Is that an accurate guesstimate?
Damage numbers from most DoTs are pooled and only displayed twice a second to avoid them creating too much visual noise.
Is the actual tick rate for most DoTs "fast enough to not care about tick rate" then?
It varies based on the specific DoT
Gotcha, thanks
Thanks for the clarification!
Sorry if replying or pinging isn't allowed for devs, but seeing as the original response is in here I'll just reply to it to keep it nearby; I'm curious if there is a possibility of having settings or a toggle to be able to distinguish the DoT ticks apart in the future, or maybe color code them and show them separately? I'd personally really like this so maybe this belongs in feedback. More-so just wondering if it's a thing that could be talked about internally as a suggestion from a huge DoT playstyle fan. I think the visual feedback of seeing your actual hits and your colored DoT hits in tandem would feel really good. Kinda sells that fantasy of hitting fast and you get to see the number rise up without losing it in a sea of other regular white attack numbers. It would need careful tuning so as to not be over the line, and if DoTs actually tick so many times per second then maybe you could pool the ticks into two per second, but still separating them per type of DoT.
For example if you had bleed and poison damage, the bleeds would be red (not too dark, so as to still be easily read), poison ticks would show separately as a light green number, white damage as regular hits and the crits being yellow, that would be my ideal. Just my thoughts. I dislike having all the DoTs pooled together for an overall number. I don't like not having the ability to see each one's impact if running multiple. This also kind of ties into elemental damage as well, I'm a fan of coloring specific damage that is being done as a certain element (fire being orange, lightning light blue/white, etc). Thanks for reading!
Does anyone know if the base attack rate of a weapon effects the speed you can attack with tempest strike?
(i could go test it in game, but that seems like it would be very annoying to figure out 100%)
Edit: Misread on base attack rate, not sure but I can test real quick
it shouldn't
base attack rate isn't truly a base attack rate, rather it's a more multiplier to attack speed
^
ah that makes sense
It's very much the same
Tested with 2h hammer and dagger, exact same rate of attack
neat
the real question is does base attack speed on a weapon impact the crit chance of tempest strike
ooooh
i mean, its gonna be much easier to test that right now
than on friday when it changes to pen xD
but still a lot of hitting a dummy lmao
I think it should work for the crit conversion, but you never know
yeah would make sense that it does
otherwise slower weapons are always going to be slightly better than faster ones, for a tempest strike build
I am noticing a visible difference, with the dagger critting a lot more but it should note the base implicit gives it +4% crit chance
yeah i mean the difference wouldnt be that huge i dont think
but my brains not working enough to try and guesstimate it
I was thinking the easiest way to test would be to get your crit high enough such that your increased attack speed should give you 100% crit chance
The difference was quite noticeable with the uncontrolled testing, but I agree wit Arborus
oh smart
%increased chance to ignite is just a flat increased chance?
As in it doesnt scale some base chance
50% chance to ignite is 50% chance to ignite, yes. 150% chance to ignite is 100% chance to ignite once and 50% chance to ignite twice. Etc.
What is 'Leech Rate'?
The rate at which you leech.
So it impacts the 'evenly over 3 seconds' part of leech mechanic?
Yes.
Unless I am wrong in which case no.
But leech rate implies the speed at which leech happens, not the total amount that is leeched, which implies it works like you just said.
In which case 100% increased leech rate would be evenly over 1.5 seconds
Probably.
🤔
Siphon of Anguish probably not worth it for the leech rate alone, then, since that is basically all I am getting from it.
I was just asking because in poe it would be a flat chance to ignite and that %increased chance would scale that
Glad this game is less complicated
Correct, it's entirely different in LE (including the important fact that going over 100% is strong AF)
What build are you running?
Spirit Plague Lich. I got a Woven Flesh and Siphon of Anguish back to back, and my life leech went from crazy to absurd.
Then yeah, I wouldn't use it. There are much better options out there, including a half decent rare.
I use siphon on my poison lich, leech rate is absurdly good there
Plus you're scaling dots naturally so the doom hits really hard
Plus I already wanted a gold ring
I don't think it works like that, since the ring specifically says "on hit".
You'd have to hit somehow yeah, but you're likely hitting with at least something
Wandering spirits hit, and the leech rate increase is global
It's not a useless ring by any means, it's got a few neat things
I just don't think it's enough for the build to make it worth
i think the main thing to consider is how much leech you actually need
if you'regetting enough healing from leech that you're only dying to one shots or standing in puddles, or justplaying really badly, then do you actually need more leech?
Lich already gets a lot of leech potential from it's tree and skills
so while the ring has some neat stuff, it might not actually be offering that much value for the slot
I'm mostly using it and Woven Flesh because I haven't delved into crafting and such yet. New to the game and what not.
Reaper form continually drains you at an increasing rate, so it helps you get back to full really quickly while traveling between packs
my point isnt about what you use leech for
its about how much leech you actually need to do that
leech is very very strong
Although I will say the leech makes it so I can stay in Reaper Form almost indefinitely and have almost no resists at level 70 but am still leeching back so much health it doesn't matter.
it quickly hits a point where you dont really need any more
But there aren't many sources of increased rate
rate doesnt matter for the specific use of it you mentioned
at least in my experience anyway
Just 1x siphon of anguish is enough for me to stay in reaper for like 30+ minutes
you don't need that much
but the doom ring is quite a big damage increase for poison lich, due to how much generic dot damage you get from spirit plague
especially since rings are really only useful for their implicits and suffixes when you get so much damage from spirit plague
yeah i underestimate doom a lot
400 base damage is absurd
400 base damage is a lot
What's poison? 20?
No knock on poison, but damn
am i making shit up, or is there a new doom thing thats been revealed for this patch?
maybe? I don't remember anything off the top of my head
Mm, so I'm getting more benefits from this ring than I realized. Didn't think Wandering Spirits were hitting things, but I didn't take Spectral Putrescence into account as a hit.
Yeah, spectral putrescence is kinda busted at the moment
since it applies all of your on-hit effects
Well !@#$, I need to pay more attention to on-hit things. I was ignoring them because I thought I wasn't hitting anything.
poison chance is massive, if you're looking to scale the dot side of things
wandering spirits + spirit plague gets a little nuts when you really go all-in on scaling it
Are you using a plaguebearer?
Yes, though ideally you'd want to use a chitin dagger with T7 poison chance and a shield
Not gonna hold my breath for one of those
I'm not either...but one day
Did get one with t7 poison damage, so I'm close but also very very far away
Does your ignite dot damage scale from the size of the hit?
no
all dots have their own base damage that is separate from the sky that applies them
but dots will inherit damage modifiers from the skills that apply them
as long as those modifiers would normally apply to the ignite
yeah but then I would want to just stack more ignites
not do the big boy nova every 4 seconds or whatever
Yeah DoTs benefit more from speed or higher chance to apply, it's different but you also have the ability of applying multiple stacks at once
I used to play Lich much a while ago, but now I struggle to sustain Reaper form during two echoes. I don't know why, but I can't anymore. I'm done with Reaper Form, I'll play it again if a patch modifies it
is there a way to make a skill auto cast?
Use the Numlock trick.
dont have numlock on my keyboard xD but nvm
Not even locked behind a function key? On laptops it's like that most of the time.
What keyboard do you have? Sometimes you can do this with the on-screen keyboard in windows.
it's 65% keyboard so maybe something with the FN keys
i think if you pull up the on screen keyboard you can do it, but i not sure how exactly.
could be no idea aswell
Google is your friend... 😉
I know 🙂 I'll focus on it later
hey i would to know what classes is very fun to play?
whichever looks most interesting to you
ok but all classes are good or some are S tier?
everythings good
ok thanks
can i log into other characters of mine and buy shattering runes on each one? or the store wont have any new runes?
if you leave and come back into the game the store will refresh with shattering runes @unborn ferry
cool thanks
Hey, everyone. I don't know if I should be asking this here or in "general", but I will shoot anyway. I've been super hyped about the game and just bought it yesterday. Felt like it was the right time with the new patch. I've always liked the whirlwind builds in RPG games and I'd like to try the same build with the Sentinel. Can anyone suggest a good Warpath build for 0.8.3? In general, is that a wise choice for a starting player or should I try another char and another build?
No one can suggest a sentinel build for 0.8.3 yet
Theres big changes happening to it, and we dont have the patch notes yet
That said, it's mildly hard to completely fuck yourself up with builds in LE, so you can start playing without a guide just going with what feels good
^
Then respec once a guide you like comes out
The only thing you can't recover from is choosing the wrong class/mastery, except by making a new char
Also especially unlikely warpath gets put in a spot where its possible to ruin it
The skill has so far always kinda been about the spin-to-win fantasy
Very helpful advices, a big thank you to everyone 🙂
Out of curiousity (I know it's still very early with the new patch and everything) - is there a "solid" build for 0.8.3 or everything is still being figured out at the moment?
Just something "powerful" to try out.
Sentinel is getting the most changes and is the primary one we know we don't know yet
Think of patches like in other arpgs
until patch notes are out no one has any idea
thers 35 new uniques coming, big changes to sentinel and necromancer
abunch of weapon reworks
We (I) expect that anything except sentinel/necromancer will be mostly the same, most solid builds that aren't those will probably still be good after the patch
But we can't know
stuff will 100% change
Jays unique will shift stuff up a little bit
EQ werebear is getting nerfed
and then theres all the uniques we havent seen
We have seen less than half the uniques in the patch afaik
Drain Life can scale off of cast speed, right?
It does not
it isn't very clear in-game so far
I hate it here
This is gonna be a very big patch in terms of changing stuff up
I guess I will wait a while and then check the forums for some official 0.8.3 builds 🙂 Until then I will be having fun with the Sentinel as much as I can. Thanks, everyone, you've been awesome! 🙂
i got all these cast speed buffs 😭
The community here is great

Is there any way to target farm Ornate Idols?
There's a blessing from iirc the level 60 timeline that increases ornate idol drop rate.
Ok thank you!
55
I have some shards that should be able to apply a % increased mana prefix on a helm or body armor. However, when I drag my body armor into the forge ui, that affix does not appear as an option
Is there a restriction of some kind I'm missing?
Increased mana is only available on sentinel and rogue armors iirc
oh dang I wish there was a way to see that
It's just sentinels. I found it by checking in the item filter options
what happens if i die on a HC character>?
It becomes a "ghost" which is a SC character that does not have access to leaderboards. Keep in mind SC has it's own shared stash and stuff so you'll lose access to your HC stash, gold and crafting supplies - edit only lose access on that character, you can make new HC character that can access it
I think Mage also
I don't think so
Increased is just sentinel and rogue yeah
(added is everything?)
mage can get increased on 3x1 or 4x1 idols, though thats mana and armor
and celestiel helm for mage gives 5-12% increased
Oh OK, thanks!
Added mana is on the 1x1s, I think.
Thank you this is what I needed, just didn't know it
Is there any way to know if I've completed all the sidequests etc. and gotten all the points possible from them?
You should have level +13 skill points, and every idol slot but the middle open
can you only have one blessing active per um, idk what they're called. Monolith area?
i just wanna make sure cus it looks like there might some area on the side where another would fit. prob a stupid question but can't hurt to be 100% 😂
You can only have one per timeline at a time
i've not finished a whole timeline yet so i'm a little confused on how it works exactly. what happens when i complete all the timelines for the first time
er, wait, no i have finished like two timelines but not a full map of them all
When you complete the last three level 90 timelines you unlocked empowered timelines, which are all zone level 100
then you can get empowered blessings, which are about twice as good
i see. i'm guessing only some items are dropped in empowered timelines?
yep, each boss has an empowered specific drop
Oh hmmm... I have 74 passives allocated and am level 62
so I'm somehow missing one. The only quest I have open is Monolith: Fall of the Outcasts, but it doesn't show a passive as part of the reward
The game said the story was done for now, so I assumed I'd passed all the sidequests, no?
https://lastepoch.tunklab.com/quests @gusty token
Yep, I was missing 2 actually. Thanks twice
hm, does bleed have a max stack it can get to?
or any other ailments for that matter
If it has a max stack it will say, Doom for example has 4, otherwise no
ok thanks, thank goodness it doesnt haha
question out of interest to optimize, how do some of ya'll level a new character for a new build idea quickly? I personally can't stop just killing everything that stops me from walking, but I try to just push through story content
ignore everything as much as possible
is the general gist of it for me
i have some rough ideas of levels i want to be at certain points, and if im over that i just hard run through until i get to a point where my level makes sense again
then once i feel comfortable i just go into mono's and stop doing story(normally just before you kill the skeleton dude and his two freinds)
then finish up story later on when i can breeze through it in 10 minutes
I personally don't like stopping the story early so I just keep going until the end, and then do monos
The main thing is that staying killing stuff is basically not worth it atm, going to higher level things is much better
the increased xp is more relative to the increased time to kill things
and you just kinda figure out a balance of that
yeeeeaah I have to agree, after a certain point around 40 I start mono'ing til like 55 or 60 to whoop through the rest of story too, gotta get better at ignoring trash in the story
I wont skip when the patch hits though
wanna see how it all plays through balance wise and stuff
and new boss fight/s, would be a shame to do them overlevelled
Same, feel obligated to level a void cleave or warpath void knight
which class use "spears"?
currently serpent strike is the only skill that requires a polearm to use
but polearms as a base type have the identity of flat crit on 2Hs
and the very recently announced javelin skill will benefit from using a polearm
And there's a levelling spear base with haste on hit. Certainly gonna use that with void cleave.
You can't use Void Cleave with a polearm.
Out here crushing dreams like that
Checking if this bug is known. Playing with a controller and when the portals are opened by Alric in the quest The Oracle's Aid I cannot use any skills. I try to use my mouse+keyboard instead but still no skills or portal are working. I had to leave the game to not die and then when I relog all skills work normally. Going to a different map also worked to gain control over using skills again.
Known and fixed for next patch. It's an issue with the controller virtual cursor thinking it's still hovering over UI that needs to be interacted with.
Great to hear :)! Thanks a lot Mike.
Thinking of rolling a new character for the update already have a rogue. And tossing up between a pet/minion build or a character who can brush off a punch to the face
