I feel like the point of solving the problem of abusing snapshot is the abuse rather than the snapshot itself...
The snapshot itself is not absolutely good or bad, many mechanics in arpg games need it for better handling, and removing it completely will only cause more other problems (although I don't know exactly what the problem is in LE)
So avoiding abuse may be the possible future for snapshot.

And this is completely ridiculous to suggest in the first place. Even in the example you just gave, now new players who respec their VK tree lose all their levels
Swarm strike can do its checking of stats a single time and store the value
imagine if it needed to check all of your stats every single frame (because it is a dot, not tick based damage skill)
removing snapshotting of skills like you suggest would mean that every skill needs to be constantly checking
it is a problem that can be solved, but its not cheap and its not easy

yeah I mean there are a few skills where maybe it would make sense to dynamically update stats but those are almost all channelling skills so they already do it

Even if you guys disagree with what is or isn't snapshotting, just realize that in some cases snapshotting is bad and in some it is good. Abuse cases should be looked at, and prevented.

LE took the approach of making it consistent across skills which while it does cause some weirdness at times is by far the lesser of evils imo.

That doesn't really make sense though, there would be a lot of channelling skills with nodes that just flat out do nothing if they ignored all stat changes
so they need to be at least partly dynamic
it depends on the skill
like attack skills generally don't snapshot attack speed
though they used to
and it took old eye of reen + tempest/warpath/whatever the cyclone skill is called now to get it changed
but something like channeled flurry would snapshot Coated Blades
or Chronostasis

it's called i dont have a specific build in mind completely yet. and i had removed all filters and it seemed like only gold and potions were showing up

The entire point of a filter is to only show what fits your build

yes but when you're only level 3 and trying to learn/relearn the game, a basic loot filter could help. my problem was it was seeming to hide everything from me

Yeah the game evolved quite a bit over time. It's a little slow now due to MP being the main focus but I imagine that after MP drops we'll start seeing more content

thanks, I saw that. Just wondering about inventory tab as running back to the town is always such a hassle. Grimdawn has that and even diablo 2 gives you up to 5 tabs in the inventory by the end game, if I remembered correctly.

No, D2 only ever gave you 1 tiny inventory. If you remember there being more that was probably from a mod
in general, you just loot less in LE since vendoring for gold isn't really a thing, as vendor sale prices are exceptionally low.
so you just don't loot things unless they're immediately useful to wear or shatter or as crafting bases
You don't really want to pick up trash to vendor for money. The devs intentionally set the sell prices really low to prevent people from wasting their time on this. Only uniques are actually worth anything but the majority of your money will come from gold drops and extra stash tabs don't cost too much unless you are hoarding absolutely everything you shouldn't have a problem with space. The game is really generous with the loot so you can rest assured that you won't miss out on anything if you don't pick up everything

Specific monoliths do have nodes for specific rewards however those nodes are far more common in empowered monoliths than they are in normal ones

for the most part, things won't feel particularly dangerous until you've gotten into the level 100 empowered content, but may a well prepare as you get closer
it's generally ok to be undercapped on resists in LE, because their impact is far less than in games like PoE
getting the increased health affixes on helm, chest, belt, gloves, boots is a really big boost in effective health

what masteries make good use of scaling ward?

a lot of masteries can use stuff like Vessel of Strife or Twisted Heart to do hybrid life/ward stuff
so while not all-in on ward, they get some as an additional defensive layer

the cleanse affix has most of its power in the first tier, so getting an exalted version of the affix doesn't do much to make it better.
you want % increased health and hybrid health on belt suffixes if you're an hp-based build. Otherwise you probably want cold resist and something else

I'd look at upgrading the crit avoidance and mana regen and merge it with one of the unique ward belts with LP. (If endurance rolls on a ward item it's not better anyways 😆 )

that is intended, unfortunately. that shield does work with a life-cost like Transplant or Marrow Shards on an acolyte.

what affects how many legendary potential i get when from uniques ?
Area level where it drops relative to the "effective level for legendary potential" property on the item you can find on the item database.
Each Unique has an "effective level" - the higher that level, the harder it is to get more LP on that Unique. Only dropping more of that unique currently gives you a chance to get more LP versions.
If you drop a unique item in a lv100 zone, a unique that has an effective level of 5 is far more likely to drop with higher lp than a unique with an effective level of 70
For most cases, effective level is the same as the level requirement to equip the item

Hey i'm wondering if someone faced my problem, my pc had a random electricity shutdown while i was playing, when i turned it back on, my character was gone and account empty lol
characters are saved locally, so it's possible your computer dying corrupted saves, check the saves folder for backups (normal save name + temp)
they don't want group play to be significantly advantageous over playing solo, so I wouldn't expect many bonuses if at all

You mean the fire dmg? No it would have to specify "minion fire dmg"

I'm asking because someone on "All" chat ingame said that people usually finish their builds when their characters are in their 80s. I'm currently level 84 on my first character without any Empowered Monolith unlocked and I'm focusing on completing all monoliths first (I'm midway through second level 90 monolith). The build I'm following requires me to find a "very rare" unique shield and "extremely rare" unique gloves so I don't know how those people manage to finish their builds this quickly. Does it mean you should farm all required uniques on a different character before you start a new one?
Well, it depends. If it's a build defining unique, you probably should farm it on a different character. Though, most of the "very/extremely rare" uniques aren't build enabling, just nice to have
Technically you can say finished at 85, but you don't really get to experience the rest of deeper parts of character customization in terms of corruption pushing etc
If the "very rare" uniques are the core of the build, then yes, that almost means you better have them before you start. cuz the very rare unique is very hard to farm imo
Otherwise you'll need to consider using another build that requires less gear before getting the unique s
A lot of people have been playing a long time now and just happen to have those items already. You aren't expected to play those builds immediately. And most people don't unlock all the monoliths before going to empowered, better luck getting uniques in empowered

Unfortunately if the temp versions are also messed up, there is very little you can do if you didnt make backups... If you are using Steam Cloud, you may be lucky - you can login via a webbrowser to Steam and check the Remote Storage to see if there are any LE savegames stored there... Corrupted saves due to unexpected system shutdown is very possible - if this is something that can potentially happen often in your area then I would recommend manual backups & consider a UPS... (I live in a country plagued by power cuts and have to do all of this no matter the game).
yeah so like literally 90% of that stuff supports the primalist class with their totems and Minions
Nope, only 10 of ~43 have lines specific to Primalist. And even then unless you're using the Herald of the Scurry, Tempest Maw or Harthenon's Vow, they're good for other minion builds as well.
Though the Acolyte focussed ones probably won't be too good on non-Acolytes.

autocast? yip, using the windows numlock trick... it wasnt intended by the devs tho and they have said that they see it as a failure of skill design if a skill is best used blindly on autocast - they would rather update the skill to make it better to not use on autocast... but hey, its been in use so long now that I personally have no idea how they intend to address it - if they will even bother...

It is, I generally use a Kris (crit multi dagger) on throwing builds.

the jist of it is hydro sphere is a summonable orb skill that you can use like an oriana ball(if you've played league) anyway you can target it and essentially abuse that to get double damage by procing secondary effects twice through use of ancestral call or +extra strike etc. most notably with lightning strike. however in the past you've been able to do similar with positioning properly with skills like molten strike by just hitting the ground and having your ancestral call hit the boss. anyway my question was more along the lines of. if I spec into the node that allows me to hit allies with my shield throw. will this allow me to ricochet either one or more bounces off my animated armor rather than the shield immediately coming back to me and not ricocheting at all (single target)
It does, it lets you ricochet to the armour and then back to the enemy. Makes sense if you have "shield barrage" on shield throw.
"Manifest Inspiration" is also one of the highest damage nodes on Shield Throw if built around it, probably gives decent damage even otherwise.
(You will want to have manifest armour scale with the stats of your weapon. Then you can equip a good melee weapon, summon the armour, and swap to your throwing weapon)

even with 2 affixes for mana regen on gear i only have 12 mana regen with 159 total mana
its ok for monos, but on bosses its miserable, i have to walk in circles waiting for mana
so i'll use up all my mana in 6 seconds then wait around for 15 seconds to get it back

Global.
LE has no local mods
sync strike mana efficiency is on chest/helm and idols, with enough of it and a bit of mana regen you should have enough to do sync -> shift forever, if you also have the mana refund stuff in shadow cascade
you might also have to drop dark allies in sync strike until you get the gear to fix the mana
don't think anything has changed for it, so it should be fine

The values in the sheet are not completely reliable, some bonuses are not included in them
And rogue can apply the crit vulnerability to enemy to gain the extra crit chance

Omnis farming... you have to push endgame corruption on Orobyss Boss echos.
Skills dont get anything by levelling - you just get more points to apply... but there isnt anything like +x damage per level that is auto added... there are a few uniques that have this, but not normal skills - at least not that I recall.

The devs dont want to people to cheese skill points - i.e. you add an item, set the skill to help with clearing mobs... then when you get to teh boss, the take the item off and on and then spec points into single damage.

Selling generally isn't worth doing since most items don't sell for much gold. So you either shatter them for affixes, use them as is, craft on them to make them better then either use them or not. Not sure what other options there could/should be?

Nope... but in some instances where a chosen skill it proc'd by something else you can take it off your skill bar and replace it with an unselected skill... eg.. swap out a selected skill for a plain movement skill (no specialisation)

Yeah, part of the design is that mana is a thing & if you want to have expensive skills, you'll need to include some way to generate mana, either passively (with the limitations therein) or from other skills/passives.

if you have 75% fire resistance, and an enemy penetrates 75% resistance, then you have 0 resistance against that hit
if you have 150% fire resistance, which is reduced to 75%, and an enemy penetrates 75% resistance, then you still have 0 resistance against that hit
because 150% is reduced to 75% BEFORE the penetration
That only applies to player resistance being capped to 75% then having area-level penetration which itself is capped to 75%

i dont think it had any major changes, but you can play around it there are different versions of it
they have performance updates almost every patch...as for how much it affects your gameplay it depends on your pc
the smoothness of cold dot werebear is the fact that you can just press Q once, delete the screen then move on to the next. You can 100% invest into movement speed like a Falcon, or double MS boots

tbh if you are lvling with hammers you usually want to avoid getting hit, sustain comes later

I'm currently loving how gearing works. I.e. how powerful stuff is you find and how easy it is to craft to a decent level. Have the devs talked about this in regards to trading and nerfing the current single player experience. Imo legendary potential is already something that would make trading very interesting.
They have spoken about wanting to avoid trade becoming the main way people acquire items, but how to interpret that is still up for discussion

Be warned... Tooltip damage calculations are wonky.... dont use them as a "final figure" rather do damage against a dummy and average that for more "effective dps"... Part of the problem is that damage calcs especially those with ailments and situational increases can skew the figures ... devs are already working on new tooltips and character sheet, its just on the backburner in favour of MP

it's a starting point, but ideally you'd want to become familiar enough to make your own filter more suited to your precise gearing needs or wants.
The filter stuff is honestly not too difficult to get used to if you just dive in and start playing around, even if your just customizing an existing filter

doing stuff on empowered? if so I'd just pick a direction and push out as far as possible until you find a memory or chaos tower, do it, rerun the bow/quiver nodes, then reset the timeline and repeat
it's zone level 100, but if you progress through normal monos as quick as possible you hit it at around level 72 ish
maybe 4-5 hours from entering monoliths
and the chance to encounter the timeline specific unique nodes is much higher in empowered
to unlock empowered, you need to finish the three zone level 90 timelines
which people generally do by running Fall of the Outcasts, The Black Sun, Ending the Storm, Reign of Dragons, then the three level 90 timelines
yeah, it's a bit of a grind to get there, but the farming is much better in empowered

Thanks, well for leveling it is mostly resists and a good weapon (afaik) So i essentially ticked all dmg mods that help me and resistance mods/health mods on every item in addition to the stuff which was already ticked, but I feel like that compels me to pick up almost too much

Can anyone point me in the direction for midgame gearing? Im kinda struggling to work out how to gear before finding my "bis" items. Im running the blender 2.0 build (warpath VK) which has a decently loot filter.

the Soulfire Bastion dungeon has a gambler at the end that can roll exalted, set, and unique items.
the normal gambler cannot roll uniques/set items or exalteds.

You can't, and the gambler was changed to cap out at lvl 40 items a while ago. At least, that's for the normal gambler, gambling from the Soulfire Bastion is completely different.
from what i remember resistnces reduce that type of damage by 1% per point so its not as critical as in poe that you are resist caped. Is it still important to be capped in all resistances by endgame and how much

That's the same as in LE. The main difference is that in LE, mobs have 1% penetration per area level (up to 75%). This penetration occurs after your resists have been capped at 75% so the game is balanced around you effectively having zero resists (however, if you actually have 0 resists, you'll take 75% more damage than you would if you had 75%).
Basically, if you want to avoid taking more damage than necessary, you'll keep your resists are or above area level. Having >75% resist in "end game" means that any shred effects will be mitigated. So your total resist minus any shred effect is totalled up, the result is then capped at 75% & then the area level penetration is applied.
k thanks , is it easy to respec? I remember that it cost gold to respec passive skills increasing per point spent i think and you can respec abilities but you have to level them up bab from lvl 1 i think (i belive its quicker though). but with a new character is it feasible to level with one build and then fully respec at endgame?
yes, gold cost becomes basicly meaningless you make so much, skill level's base goes up as you level with a max of 10, and yes its very easy to swap builds when you reach end game.

As I understand it, Damage is converted before increases and multipliers are applied - so your base damage will convert, but not any extra increases from trees/gear
Defenses are converted after increases are applied - so 5% Dodge Chance with all increases and multipliers will be converted to 5% Glancing Blow chance (calculated from a Raw base, Increases and More)
Base weapon speed is a multiplier to increased attack speed

does this mean -5% resist debuff on hit? so at lvl 6 its -30% resistance on hit?
also what is maximum negative resist?
That would be -30% per hit correct and caps at 20 stacks. There isn't max negative res at least not one that is easily noticed since poison is the only ailment that can shred thousands of enemy res
Your build doesn't utilize ward, so I'd pick "scholar" for 8 points instead of "elementalist" for 4 because you'll need the health.
And with all your cast speed, you'll probably use up your arcane ascendance before you get to trigger superconductor a second time.
May be worth it for the 1 cast if you struggle for damage, but you won't need the points in "closed circuit".
I'd spec 1 point out of "higher plane" and utilize these 4 points to grab "mana surge" because free mana is worth more than gold to the average LE player ^^

How do a scale hammer throw? I’m a little confused what mods effect it.
Obviously throwing based mods do. But what about my base weapon damage, attack speed, cast speed, ect.
Also is there ever a time I would want to craft strength/Dex/Int/Attunment on a item over another mod?
base weapon damage is melee, so it doesn't scale throwing attacks
generic attack speed and throwing attack speed scale throwing attacks
Throwing skills are specifically excepted from having base stats of the item affect them. The exceptions being Javelin and Shield Throw.
str/dex/int/etc are generally worth 4% increased damage per point, but some skills have special scaling otherwise
You'll want all the mods for throwing if you're scaling your hammers - though most people only worry about the speed, since they're actually scaling Smite.
and some items or passives can add additional effects that might incentivize stacking them

those attributes also, in some cases, have a defensive benefit
like strength giving % armor, or intelligence giving ward retention
so some builds might opt to use them to get both benefits, scaling offense and defense off a single stat
Attributes also tend to be one of the few stats with defensive benefits available in prefix slots on items

all stats in last epoch are global
so % phys damage applies to all phys damage
regardless of if its throwing, spell, melee, damage over time, etc.

If I get the gladiator node that allows me to my dual wield, and the nodes that give me attack speed if I have a sword, and attack speed if a have an axe.
If I dual wield both a sword and an axe do I get both the perks of that node?
in the past yes. currently, no. They added some text to that node, if you hold down Alt.
Gotcha so I’ll probably unspec it then and use a sword and shield on my hammer throw guy for a little more defensiveness

If you use binary system + scattered + armageddon it creates two stars twice, does that mean each star procs a meteor near it or does it not proc meteors because stars =/= black hole?

Would definitely use the shield approach DOrb does so much damage that you will barely notice those boosts on the catalyst but you would notice anything that improves your defences much more... Kris... Nah, I'd go mage items with -mana costs...
It's absolutely fine to skip ward for the most part. As long as you get enough health.
The duration node on teleport is for when you use the free spell/+cooldown node, you won't need it.

You have chosen Spellblade as a mastery... you can only do the first half of the Sorceror passive tree because of it. The chain indicates the cut off point... if you look, your spellblade tree will not have the chain
Mastery choice is the only permanent decision in the game right now.

You cannot respect out of Spellblade tho... you would need to roll a new char.

yip... once mastery is chosen, you are committed to skills & passives of the chosen mastery - in your case Spellblade... you can change skills and respec passives as many times as you like, but the mastery restricts you to your chosen masteries available trees and skills
Is there no way to know when a mastery locks you out of certain upgrades like that?
