Nah, the fire tornado thing is from like pre-beta era, where they were experimenting with skill interactions. They scrapped that system entirely, but kept the fire tornado in just because.

so I was doing it with the frogs and the clear speed is good but you just end up going all frogs and making them hit harder
I just moved away from bees and now I am less tanky but the frogs just destroy it all

Anuroks only summon up to your number of unused companion slots. Wolf howl is a great buff for the frogs but if you don't have the lone wolf node it will take up a companion slot that you could be getting a toad from

I just spec and repseced into this like 3 times and I did not notice the frogs go up. I think it is because you already get 1 that does NOT count as a companion but also the landbefore sees the wolf and says "hey you cant have another" so it is making the node useless

well, so the main thing is that the chest only gives storm crows specifically some increased damage and the ignite chance

It is pretty good, just has trade offs to cold conversion. You benefit from armor shred. Phys converted maelstrom gives you a 1% global phys multiplier per stack that will apply to your stormbolts, can also stun. Downside is you cant use throne of ambition idol, no frostbite stacks or freeze.

the boulder idols which work in spriggan form are really bad compared to just not doing it in spriggan form tho.
Using basically all your idols for 3 small boulders/second isn't going to achieve anything worthwhile
