New footing doesn't really matter for non competitive play, though
and being locked out of new content which might appeal is kind of lame, which is why people probably play on new cycles outside of ladders in the first place
It really does when you lose your progress, items, ect. I get why it is being done however. But if I know I have to start over in a few weeks, just means I dont want to play in this part of the cycle. It's literally wasted time.

dungeons def feel a little weird. i was doing t3 for so long on all of them and then i could only really do them when I had crazy gear for the t4. the gap is way steeper than any other tier jump and they could just make tier 3 where tier 4 is currently and give us a real challenge
and the only dungeon i accept obstacles in is temporal sanctum for flavor purposes
the whole timeline jumping is just very well placed for that dungeon i like it
the timeline jumping is extra fun with VR

yes because things like that take time. concept, animations, ect. That takes time, it's like 70 ppl not a mega studio.

Where is that 70 number coming from? Still at work so not doing a hardcore dive, but only concrete number I'm finding was "3 dozen" from 2020.
GGG is around 110 or so employees as of this year, last I heard the total count was 50+ and they had some jobs posted for things. So yeah, it's HALF the team, which is a big deal when it comes to production.
Also, the game is 100% worth putting time into, even as is it easily trades blows with anything else on the market so I dont get that angle at all.

the point is not necessarily to "improve" but take a different path and develop from there

It might help your understanding if you knew that all the skill trees are a single prefab and VCS is generally garbage at handling prefabs. They are probably well underway on all the skill work for 1.2, making it a nightmare to try and separate 1.2 stuff out just to get some changes in.
EHG made some really bad backend choices a long time ago they are still dealing with because it was generally just made by people who really like ARPGs, not seasoned game devs

i actually have some pretty sick gear on it, and i barely get by in empowered monos, single target is horendous
other builds with the same gear quality would be blasting 500c
If it could get flat dmg from your weapon like the hammer throw ones get from throwing damage it could work
It’s just very clunky and feels like a tack on to void cleaves tree

i squeezed in all flat dmg i could get my hands on, its still meh unfortunately

That's how you get the 80% more multi from it on VC
I just numlock warpath and evade before using VC, so warpath stops to proc the buff and restarts so I get the 80% more damage and the +50 spell damage while channeling warpath

Also, at least according to the buff icon, you actually have 2 sec to use VC, not 1 sec like the description says, so it's fairly forgiving
It's somewhat like locust swarm playstyle-wise - do a little combo, then zoom around for a bit, repeat
You can probably get away with not using the warpath more multi (your rav aura will deal 44% less damage) by just really leaning into mana efficiency idols and -5 mana cost slam on the sceptre and spamming VC more often for more AEs to clear better, but still not an afk playstyle
but just popping VC after evade or lunge really isn't bad at all imo
i think my warpath smiter just completely poisoned the well for me, no matter which class/build i try i think to myself " i could be clearing 3 times as fast with 0 buttons, what am idoing here"

If I had it, I would change a few things tho.
Eternal Gauntlets would be good, but I couldn't find a pair yet that I could squeeze in. For Arena probably a 2nd Red Ring could be better and ofc the Relic could be a tad better.
And skill VR for general use. Lunge is just an Arena thing here

just use whatever 2 handed sword you can get and craft it to the best of your ability, leveling is relatively easy anyway so you don't need to follow items that closely. just have enough hp and leech to sustain

So I really wan to use Palaru's Sacred Light in a late game self cast smite build.
I have above, a void knight version of the build that converts Smites need for Attunement to Vitality, as well as stacking Strength so that I have a ton of flat spell damage from Palaru.
This is a life based build with a small amount (and I do mean small) of ward. I am thinking about replacing Vessel of Strife but the amount of damage I get from it, as well as the small amount of tank is very nice.

When you say you feel squshy with 19k EHP lets speak first about where are you failing and what do you want to achieve
Idk, in my experience, builds that have 19k EHP feel squishy to me.
Then again, any amount of death just feels bad.
19k EHP is not the worst number, you will rarely see builds in the 20s and very rarely in the 30s.
Usually 19k is more then enough to kill Abberoth and deal with quite amount of corruption

It's not real echoing though, you don't need to be a VK and the echo chance stuff doesn't affect it

Doing the same with my rooster. I can easily farm higher, but that would slow me down too much and is not worth to me.
I was doing fairly well on a holy flame burst paladin DW the smite sword and aberroths command
But we also speak a different language. If I say I have this and that EHP I would personally refer to my weakest point, not my strongest ^^ 🙂
yeah i actually have great sustain on this build, can facetank pretty much anything at my current corruption with just half afk. but the dps already feels slow so in 1k i imagine it being a real slog
but both spicorr and iva markova took this build to 1k without a struggle so it's good build. and cursedboy killed aberroth with it so it can do pretty much all content in the game with ease

Endurance threshold thought: What if endurance threshold was split into 4 sections, so like with 100 hp
100-75 hp, no endurance effect
75-50 hp, endurance % * .33 (so 90% endurance becomes 30%)
50-25 hp, endurance % * .66 (so 90% endurance becomes 60%)
25-0 hp, endurance % *1 (so 90% endurance is 90% endurance, but the cap is 60, so it becomes 60% endurance)
This also encourages getting more than 60% endurance, tho the numbers for how much endurance % we get from items would probably need to be changed
remove threshold entirely, endurance now just protects X amount of HP instead.

Bleed is a damage over time. When I started in 1.0 i was very confused. I thought since i am going typical melee dmg, bleed helps? then i learned Dot damage cant crit
At 70% you are entering hard in the flat portion of the curve, not really worth pushing much higher imo
then you would typically focus on hit build which you can crit or you focus dot build, not both at the same time

Then it shouldnt be an option, dont put something in that is essentially impossible, and on some items 3 or 4 lp is statistically impossible.
People do thousands of Kurast runs for a single high rune when you need 5-6 for a single item. Think the entire genre is predicated on chasing abysmal drop rates
they want hail marry once in a lifetime pieces in the game, they aren't going to make 4lp ravenous void able to get reliably because even as a 1lp it's disproportionally stronger than other items that need high lp to be relevant. lp is not a linear thing in the game it's based on how strong an item is for a reason
And that is terrible design philosophy. Lets make something that even super players may never see. If an item breaks because of LP, then you need to revisit the item itself, not the system.
If you make 3-4 LP consistently attainable, you have to balance around that. Those items should be things that make you stand out, not the baseline. Imo, at least
with trade you'll see them, just like in other games like d2. if u want to solo farm a cham it's an insane time investment.

I think a big part of this discussion is that a LOT of power in last epoch comes from the skill trees + passive tress currently, depending on what build your doing this can and will make some things feel horrible until you get to x gear level
It's not, aberoth is literal aspirational content, it's not meant for most builds
rive skill points for instance are insane damage per point, the difference in +2 and +4 is 30% dps
thats fair, tho I'd wager the dev's idea of hitting 300 being the goal for most builds is including regular monos

I was just about to say, I haven't really worried about my gear at all and am not struggling much at 170ish. There are times where I stack mods too much and get blasted, but generally I just have to dodge poison and I'm fine
overcapping poison res is always good (given each poison stack removes poison res), also is your crit defense capped
monos aren't meant to be super challenging, they are the farming content
paying attention to mods is key honestly

first things first, you need a better helmet + armor base
your crit defense is almost capped, but you don't want both (Crit avoid or reduced bonus damage from crits)
I'd recommend more health, vitality can help there especially cause it gives you %more melee void dmg
for body armor, I'd recommend the champion regalia or apocalypse plate with vitality, flat life and % life (champ is better defense, apoyclapse is better damage)
get your resistances elsewhere
as for helmets, Leonine greathelm can cover your entire crit defense, freeing up affixes elsewhere on your build, or terror crown can boost your dmg and health
not having 10 points in eternal form (vk passive tree) hurts, don't forget vitality gives you %more melee dmg

chain is a great belt, just make sure you have a way to apply doom (another great way to boost your melee dmg)

I personally keep every/most idols I find and just dump them into my stash, so when I regear I have an easy time fixing my resistances if one ends up being too low
void flux (vk passive tree) is also a good spot to throw a random skill point into, it saves my life a shocking amount of the time

I think this is the most generically good vk armor I’ve ever made
Your passives are solid, I’d just put 10 points into enternal form and 8 points into fearless, because vk loves vitality
I did a perma bonk vk without grabbing the nodes in forge guard so I’m unsure what you can drop from forge guard to get more points
i can also take them out i just follow some guid

Because leveling is pretty much get armor and resist and that's all you need. For most things just take off LP or nemmy stuff and there you go.

For levelling just go by this, do you do enough damage? Then build defense, do you feel tanky? build damage then.
But Max resistances, get HP, and enough dmg to feel comfy and you'll be fine

and dont forget to shatter gear that have affixes you want

thats the main way of getting new gear

set up a loot filter with what you want, and honestly I wouldnt worry with shattering unless it's something you really want like +skill lvl until you start seeing purple
Go to monos once you get all your idols and passive points from the story

monos are only lvl 58
quests give you passive skill points
how do you get keys for them or are they rng

I haven't really played since before 1.0... How are VKs fairing as far as speed clearing and general pushing? Particularly before you get gear (aka the super lucky crit maw). I've always liked VK, but they always felt so... meh, from a meta standpoint.

for infinite bonk yeah, but until then you can do a more regular erasing strike vk (or get it on your flaconer)
just make sure you get one with 0.5 flat crit per mana
Are VKs still weirdly squishy? Or have they balance updated them at all?
vitality stacking works well, vk gets +2 max hp per vitality and 1% more melee void dmg per 3 vit
sentinel as a whole is weirdly squishy, the forge guard tree has dot defense on it now tho (its based on attunement so not that useful for vk)
the leo helmet also exists so at least crit defense is easy
void ageis is still good, and the 1 point panic yeet passive is still good too
they are fine really, i have almost 20k ehp on mine

cap one of these (reduced bonus dmg taken is easier for sentinel to cap)
get life on your gear (flat and %), aim for 2k life
craft your body armor or get better piece asap, it has t1s on it.
and you're at 77 you should already have few pieces of exalted possibly, some of those uniques are not that good especially for your build

The cull is pretty nice
cull lost so much power in 1.1, now that 75% of a bosses health is ward instead of life.
cull should proc on the bursts of ward
so like with 20% cull, if you hit the boss to under 20% of their ward, all the ward goes away
Im not really a fan of the ward thing
I like it more than a hidden DR buff
They have the same EHP though, so literally nothing changed
same EHP, I like having the visual feedback of the boss effectively having 5 health bars
I don't like oops I did too much damage now I do less damage
IT works, I just hate how bandaid it feels. All it did was highlight player power is nuts right now.
both DR and ward bursts are bandaids, but the ward burst is a cool spiderman bandaid so I like it more
The ward one is worse for those who dont have the dps, it doesnt go away nearly fast enough

180% throwing damage effectiveness is good for a throwing skill, plus unlike every other throwing skill it can get damage from your weapon
Actually I guess it's higher than the others in its class, except Void Cleave.
I just realized I was looking at mastery skills. That's not bad. I guess it means you get a lot from flat throwing damage values
with jav you get flat from all the normal throwing flat damage sources (rings, relic, gloves, belt, amulet) and then 50% of the flat damage on your spear (both implicit and flat melee from affixes)
the real problem with jav to me is that sentinel barely has any spear support

It's roughly equal to hp on block. It's not bad, it's just not good. (honestly we all know it's just there to force you to redo the timeline to get what you want)

Spend life instead of mana when you have negative mana. You do not benefit from leech while under 0 mana. Spend 10% more health per cast.

Nah, keep the leech, just give it a fat multi so you're losing big chunks of hp when you do so. OR something like, when you are at negative mana, spend twice as much in HP until you reach full mana.
Or it could just be a limited time buff. "The flows of time lag behind you. Abilities cost no mana for 2 seconds when you cast with negative mana. 15 second cooldown"

imo shouldn't be spend life for it as that will quickly hit what POE does where your resource is very easy to regen
my thought is, each time you spend mana while at negative mana you "burn" part of your health globe, so your max health gets reduced the longer you stay at negative mana, you still spend mana as normal, this would require void well to say gain mana equal to 30% of your mana pool, not set it to 30%
your max health recovers while you are at positive mana

Many possibilities here. You can self cast smite, or proc it in several ways indirectly. Both, fire or lightning can do the job very well, its a bit depending on what you want to do.
just make sure you read what can only happen on a direct smite cast vs a triggered smite cast (for example the chance to double cast node is direct cast only)
I have this season for example two Pallys that kill with smite, both indirect, and both use a different element.
One uses for example Warpath. As that has a great synergy with fire, I use a fire smite there.
My Hammer-Smiter uses Devotion (lightning), has a completly different playstyle but has a great clear if you always pay attention to mana-management and buffs.
only it's nothing like that because it's ramping cost is going to destroy your hp
either the ramping cost is high enough where no build can use it because it kills you to fast, or its low enough where everything dies before the cost does that much damage to you
