The base damage nerf would logically be a counterbalance to all the other buffs, otherwise it wouldn't be there.
Either way I wonder why people don't just take all the Forge Guard players at their word.

is my base. getting hit once puts me to 5500 first, then 4s later it goes to 5038. 6s later it drops back to 4903. goes to 5500 first due to "battle hardened" passive, thus it drops after 4s

How many other sources of % increased armor do you have
Yeah cuz increased is always on the base, meaning if you have 100 base, and it increases to 110 with stalwart... that would mean 10%
But if you got 100 base, another 50% increased from somewhere else, you would see 150, and with stalwart => 160.
i will finish this mono and take away my battle hardened passive and quickly test again

Forge guards were actually disgusting BEFORE this rework, hell even before HH existed, with the addition of HH and this rework they're even BETTER

if you moderately knew how to theorycraft, FG's were gross af, you just didnt play them as pet builds. They were amazing bleeders

The guaranteed stun is on shield bash baseline, if you went 0 cd spammable shield bash, that guaranteed gets removed

Flurry of blows remove the guarenteed stun
Some nodes remove the guaranteed stun in exchange for some other effect.
Honestly the increased cooldown needed to happen to shield bash, if they hadnt had done that, a single sentinel building cdr and stun duration wouldve been able to perma stunlock the harbingers
Now instead you can go in with 4 sentinels and permastun a harbinger! >:D
One gives 300 ignite instead of guaranteed stun, another removes the cooldown, but you won't get guaranteed stun OR the ignite.

If you do run cooldown shield bash, the crit node on far left is fantastic for one shot builds like judgement, you just casually tack on a free 20% bonus crit
Too bad 1 shot judgement got nerfed though, i'll miss the 80 milliom crits š¦

If it were at least normal stun and not melee stun, i'd run it on forge strike since forge strike gets a dot damage increase by 1% for every 1% normal non melee stun chance

If you run it as a dot build, you can. Just tack on the lava burst on shield throw as an additional hit for dots, smite on throw idols, and then you've got shield bash dots too
I use them but not for dots
Or, and hear me out, you drop the shield throw and shield bash and run shield rush, get lifesteal, take the far right top node in shield rush, and break your finger spamming the absolute crap out of shield rush on an enemy

If you want the absolute craziest of sigeons, run with a primalist spriggan druid buddy, they can spam you with thorn shields that skyrocket the damage reflect scaling on the shield
If you wanna watch your entire mana bar go extremely far into the negatives, you can run shield throw with lava burst procs and smite procs, go high crit, and then run meteor belt

People did that and actually were able to pass it
Yee + rebuke is another safety button against Lagon.
Especially with the less ele dmg node in its tree. The divine toddler couldnāt do anything
Rebuke isnāt flashy, but itās a damn workhorse of a skill, that also helps you have better melee damage uptime

I will eventually be scaling LR for uzils chestpiece for eternal forge strike, and VK dmg gets pretty nutty

The main catalyst of eating your entire mana pool for damage got super nerfed. Though one shot nukers prefer high attune more, and its the aoe aura judgers that like the mana eat, but it got super nerfed down
Actually now that i look again at where its placed, i guess vk's can do it too, but that new crit multi per str node, its a more modifier on your crit multi, not an increased. So if you stack 100+ str, holy sweet jeebus

Yeah big bonk is in, especially with the boss ward bursts instead of them getting damage reduction
If you play spinny warpath or rive fg with either of them spitting out forged weapons, and then take the top right ward forge strike node, they'll grant their ward gen no matter where you're at on the map. Thats been a fun bug for years.
Speaking of that, if a boss has 80% health left and he just dies, did I bypass its ward bursts? (This was on a rime guard nemisus)
Was it an armor shred build? Armor shred builds are hilarious. The boss is slowly whittling down health, hits 60-80% then immediately dies

Hit twice with void cleave to give 10 void shred + 12 time rot -> did one erasing strike -> it went to 80% hp -> echo does erasing strike -> it died
Logic would assume you can pre empt a ward phase because a dead boss can't gain ward.
Do you have the gear and affixes/idols that grant bonus echo damage?
That makes sense, especially cause if you do a small hit it will be at say 74% hp with the ward

Funny thing about smelters wrath that it doesnt tell you unless you look, is that it gives you 100% more armor while channeling and you can get into the 10's of thousands of armor while using smelters

so, because FG gets so many phys and fire pen and bleed and ignite stuff, Im using the ruby fang set and scaling poison along with it
It's mostly there for bosses. Forge strike seems to make the majority on clumps of units the golem didn't kill
This nemesis stuff is hilarious, didnt realize it till a bit ago but if you double empower, even as low as the lvl 20's levels, the weapons it gives can have crazy stacked forging potential. I got a 68 potential 2h axe, ripped all the affixes off it, its still at 60

Back when I just got FS I had like T1 ignite chance on weapon and the ignites were stacking like mad already.
Theres always 0 cd fs with volatile reversal as well
The new time and faith is so much fun with a big health pool, yes let me rive here and not hit anything to heal
Oh i can imagine one of my all time fave builds was 8000 health sentinel with missing health heal lunge + idols
FS isnt the focus, it's the dots, Im just triggering it for the detonating ground and some extra boss dps. And time and faith is good period. I only have a like 1k hp pool and between that and HH Im essentially immortal

DoTs are surprisingly fast at killing if you stack enough.
When the spear chucker beetle riders first came out they were way overtuned and would cod snipe your a*s a mile away

It having like -80 flat void damage compare to apathyās is a big downside
It should be good and playable but each bonk will be weaker than an apathyās bonk
But your also bonking constantly with a huge AOE and you donāt need to void cleave to get a crit
I think salt the wound wins out in the end, even with just a high roll on the multi on the gloves, that's still like 15 pen, and if you get to the multi node in FG that's another easy 20 pen, so you'd sit around like...50% pen for fire, phys, and poison, not counting the skills you use
anyone watch aarons build for minion forge guard? im wondering why he didnt convert his warpath to fire in his build guide...seems to make the most sense and be easier to scale since your minions deal fire melee damage

Your already next to one in the crit multi corner of ES, then theres the %increase in the bottom right

ye these are the ones I'm going for. I had to spec into the echo node to get the no CD node as well. Hopefully it'll work out and I wont spend the next week just tweaking it. Also thinking of putting some points into FG tree for the +0.5% more damage per mana cost
100% crit, tons of crit multi, high mana and big area. Hopefully it'll be able to sustain itself against bosses not just groups
you can do this with a lvl 20 ES, then as you get levels from gear grab the crit multi
this gets the no cooldown and both mana cost nodes and the void essence on crit node for mana sustain

What's the general idea of the usage of Volatile Reversal? Meant to buff you right, or is it a 'panic' button. Just stand at the boss, use it, get buff, smack DPS?

Before i commit to a build that might be a waste of time, by my maths, Alarms strength stacking smite at 100 strength gets 50 flat damage, vs my old mana stalking devotion version at 800 mana would get 160. Is there even much point going for a strength version save for it being tankier, but half the flat? Even going devotion anyway for strength stacking still doesn't reach that flat number at all

On some Bosses is Hammer a good thing too, when you are not able to attack with Melee skills due to Ground effects

Primeval dragons breath attack does trigger thorns, on every tick -_-
also elites with affix "will heal if not damaged recently" does not stop its healing if u only damage them with thorns, gotta directly hit em xD

use palarus offhand with a sceptre mainhand then get this node in warpath, the base crit and fire penetration apply to all damage while you're spinning so it'll make smite do massive damage

Ah. Yeah, better gear will go a long way - also you'll get more mana and mana regen as you level.
One affix of mana regen can be helpful early as well.

As long as you're not using rare shards, you should craft asap. It makes a big difference during the campign.
You'll intermittently drop upgrades, but crafting will carry you between those.
its easy to assume crafting is only useful at endgame if you're coming from other games but its actually just as useful while levelling

attack speed can definitely be worth it when you're using palarus to hit the 3 smite per second limit more consistently

You can setup sigils as well with the new ring to keep that buff up for party. While still building for dps yourself.

Holy aura is a must for the flame burst passive, javelin with the war banner node has great synergy with warpath smite too since it buffs you while you're in the radius and casts more smites for you

It doesn't take long at all esp if the skill you're trying to respec is lower than the other, it takes less time to lvl it. Also if you're having a rough time leveling it can always go for the exp tome nodes on monos.
Gaining skill points is only slow when you're at the top of the curve.

Because hitting lvl 19 and 20 skill lvl is locked behind char level so I think you need to hit 80 or something for lvl 20

I'm vk hammerdin but void aura spec. I had mana issues early too but trick is to not take the nodes that increase the cost of hammers and try to get -throwing attacks mana affixes asap on your rings

My hammers cost 6 mana atm but I can drop it to 3 if I used another -mana ring and the only node I dont have is orbit node.
But man this forge guard minion build feels good.

I planned the build out myself. I did have some help though. The volatile reversal was a late addition at somebody's suggestion.
volatile reversal is like the best skill in the game once your good at using it, it makes my head hurt tho I do enough thinking at work

What is the trick with VR? Just use it when you are on top of an enemy to get increased damage? This is my first time with sentinel so just trying to understand everything.

Basically the void rift has nodes that make enemies take increased damage.
If you stay in 1 place for 2 seconds and then use it, you will hit enemies with it twice.
just take all CD reduction nodes, and if you use Anomaly can also take CDR there. it will make VR sub 4s CD, and the damage increase lingers for 4s -> overlap
Also now that I think about it, enemies take more damage.

One more question. I see a lot of builds (especially FG) using healing hands in their hotbar even when they have specced into the auto cast on melee hit. Is there a major reason for that? It seems like it would be better to just keep healing hands specialized but put something like lunge in it's spot on your hotbar.

Healing hands on the other hands can not only be used to get away, but also to heal yourself at the same time.

Honestly, if you're a melee build that can proc the skill, you should try to see if you can fit HH in. Free healing is always great, plus it's damage is still bonkers, even though people say it got nerfed into the ground after being UBER busted on Launch Cycle.
Either there is no hard cap or there is one and they forgot to tell us. That being said, I don't think it's physically possible to even get close to 100%.

I don't know of any other skill that so heavily incentivizes Attunement stacking on melee Sentinel than HH. Most of the other options are our spells.
Experimental gloves go up to 30% armour mitigation applies to DoT, and gloves also have an implicit to begin with

In PoE, resists are their actual numbers. Which means if you have 74% instead of 75% that's 4% more damage. In LE it's 1% more damage.
That said, overcapping resists is still good because resist shred is a thing.
i mean i left 30% phys and 30% void and 25% ele resist in the passives lol. plus almost all idols are empty, just adapt it to your current situation, i personally only plan maxed out stuff and just wing it along the way

Finding ways to reduce phys damage in PoE can be a nightmare.
I never really got around to doing much with that stat here though

That said, armor does work against bleeds because bleed damage scales with the hit that applies it.
PoE is very similar but also very different.

Bleed is an ailment that deals physical damage over time that is based on the initial physical damage of an attack or spell; armour will reduce the initial hit but not the damage over time.
