STS1 is a really well designed game (it suffers from some funny performance issues like the screen sometimes losing its mind when you click out of the window, but also it's a bit old and the engine sucks lmao). I'm not a big fan because the game-type isn't really for me, but I can very much appreciate the quality of it.

Most other games have much fewer combats (although they may have longer fights) but sts has just the right amount of everything. From the type of pathing to various events to different enemy types that have to be played with differently.

Kinda. So in the second game there's two modes, story and utopia. Utopia is kind of the "sandbox" mode where you have to select an ambition like having a massive stockpile of resources for example.

Then there's also things called tales which are pretty much scenarios, for example one of them makes you build a beacon and forces you to take on tons of sick and injured people without having too many die (you have to take on like 40k sick people and can't let more than a total of 4k people die during the entirety of your run)

What I ran was utopia on captain (hardest difficulty) with all 5 currently available tales

And the tales do not adapt to being selected together. So for example there's another tale where you need to fight an epidemic of a deadly virus, while I'm also dealing with a tale where a bunch of lunatics try to destroy the city, while also taking in tons of people from the tale I described and also trying to scout as much as possible to rebuild a factory to get cores because there's a tale that makes you have 0 cores until it's finished

And on top of all that you have to deal with the normal challenges of the game of course x)

Honestly though it would be way, way easier without the beacon tale. Because the 4k death limit isn't just for the sick people you have to take on, it's total deaths from any cause. And there's a lot of things that kill people in this game unlike the first one.

People dying from the epidemic tale? You lost. People dying from the whiteout tale? You lost. People dying to civil war? You lost, etc x)

Deadass the only things that truly interest me are new Static, new Shock Nova, and Storm Brand. The last one unfortunately still sucks numerically despite the buffs. The first one is an unknown on how exactly it functions (also tbh might be underwhelming? The damage effectiveness feels super low to me). And Shock Nova is basically locked into Archmage which I don't really find fun (fighting the market for the same three items in ever mana build is superbly unfun)

on ironclad all you need is one vicious and a prepare for battle with some thunderclaps and stuff and you're good to go

• All your relevant inc and more multis apply to all the relevant damage types you're dealing, regardless of whether the damage type is obtained via conversion or gained as extra, but if there's overlap they will only apply once (e.g. 50% more melee damage on a 50/50 phys/fire melee hit only applies once, but 10% more phys and 20% more ele will BOTH apply)
• Conversions have a specific order, and a priority rating, but this is only important if you overconvert or multiconvert
