Even when you consider that GGG is obviously a larger and more successful studio, it's useful to remember they weren't always that way. GGG cracked "the code" so to speak, what I mean by this: GGG is confident about the changes they make in a release and all of their patches are always packed with updates and they can pinpoint the cause of an issue and react to address it immediately. This is a level of insight into the game and service that EHG possibly just doesn't possess with LE.

I have nearly a trillion gold in D4 and I have done literally zero trades this season. I can go blow 100bil at a vendor crafting and get it back in a couple hours. Due to that trading has no point.
LE gold literally just compounds itself. You make some from trading and go spend it to make infinitely more, you never have a reason to spend a notable amount of gold on anything other than items.
Hero Siege the market is dictated on if you have access to random spawning vendors being able to sell SS items, if you do you have reason to spend gold and if you don't the only purpose is once again to send it to other players for items, which makes inflation go to the moon after a week.

It's amusing because these games always try to find ways to throw in a gold sink to somewhat offset the gold faucets and curb inflation, while PoE already figured this out a long ass time ago: Consumable crafting currency. It removes itself from the game when you use it, and there is always a reason to use it.

Ultimately inflation is an uphill battle because there will always be bots to guarantee it, but at least GGG's approach to economy and trade means that leagues have a healthier, fairer economy over the long-term compared to any other ARPG season.

GGG made the deliberate decision not to buff SSF because they had the foresight to know how this would split their playerbase and completely kill the trade economy which would be disastrous for the game. They get flak for this decision, but it's definitely the right decision IMO.

The entire purpose gold exists is to serve as currency for trade. It isn't backed by any real value. A chaos orb has real value, it can craft items.

Technically, gold has value beyond its use as currency for trade. But there aren't enough things you can spend your gold on to extract equivalent value of a chaos orb.

I've played probably close to every ARPG on the market, and in the case of ones with trade I'm pretty sure literally all of them. None of them have made gold usable to any relevant degree on items.

Games end up struggling to remove gold from the economy faster than it accumulates. PoE also has this issue with crafting currencies, but it's much more managed and slower.

Pets? Pretty gacha. Cosmetics? Not really.
The upside is there's a lot of high-end pets given for free and you choose what you want, you just need to earn them. And non-paid currency (which can be used on pulls) is very easy to accumulate, as well as every season providing many pulls for free just for logging in for a couple weeks.

People flip about whales pulling x10 the amount of the currency but also those whale are all streamers who play the game as their job. You're not competing with them even if you spend triple what they do lol

(It's also exaggerated really, I've had seasons where I'm a week in and had 30k+ FE, you just need to know what you're doing)

All percentages are multipliers, the difference is how those multipliers are computed.

Additive multipliers (Increased/Reduced) are computed as the sum of all other increased/reduced. Multiplicative multipliers (More/Less) are the multiplier by themselves.

Part of build progression is knowing when it's more optimal to pick up additive vs multiplicative. Obviously there's also flat, but that's fairly self-explanatory.

Because D3 had basically no challenging mathematical component to it. Not only was every multiplier exponential, they told you specifically which sets of gear to use for your playstyle. There wasn't really any build diversity, you were always forced to use specific full sets.

EVE Online has steadily maintained its niche audience for a couple decades now and Albion was heavily influenced by it if I remember and more closely aligned with EVE's sandbox philosophy, but sounds like they might have deviated quite a bit though in recent years. In EVE, there are "safe" zones but even those aren't truly 100% safe.

EVE will always find some way to remind you that non-consensual PvP is an inescapable reality and safety is just an illusion.

Yep, totally fair. I love EVE (burned out, though) and it's a game that knows its audience even if it struggles with new player retention. I'm surprised that the game has largely remained intact despite the acquisition by Pearl Abyss (Black Desert devs) so many years ago. They seem content to continue supporting their existing audience.

Based on the pattern of people targeted, sounds like the state actor was probably China and the targets were maybe outspoken critics (such people making public statements about Taiwan and other things that upset China).

You should be able to know if you were affected by checking the checksum of your Notepad++ exe and verifying it against the official checksum.

Most likely state-sponsored with people working at the ISP-level who were intercepting unencrypted HTTP traffic to the Notepad++ update server and hijacking the response to instruct the updater to download a malicious version.

When running PoE2, the rest of the system grinds to a near halt, particularly streams.
Profiles showed that creating textures took significantly longer than it should, from like 20-40ms to several seconds each.

Except! As my dGPU and iGPU are on different driver packages, I didn't have any installed for the iGPU and it was running ones from WU.

but yeah this mission I just got is giga brutal lol, it's gonna take like an hour to finish the actual quest

because It needs like 8 trips or something

But yeah the second one is far more grindy since you don't get access to infinite copies of things after unlocking them like you did in the first game. Like if I want to place 4 of a gun I need to own 4, they're not consumable though, like I'd have 4 for every mission. But yeah grinding the resources and moving them to the right system that can make the thing you need just takes a good chunk of time and redoing routes you've already done before

I don't mind it much personally but it can be a drag for sure

Pick any other franchise, because horizon is known for relasing too close to BotW the first time around, and too close to Elden Ring the second time around
