with Twister

and occasionally throw those little wind storms on the ground to empower the Twisters

My storm is basically my entire enabler. Shocks cause AoE damage and proc Firestorm automatically, casting it on repeat gives me casts for OoS, causing ailments lets me drop Living Bomb on them for extra damage, and then I just drop Frost Bomb and Ele Weakness every so often for absurd debuffing. And all of this cycles infusions so I basically have max infusions all the time.

If you use curses or exposure, the amulet is a damage loss. Otherwise it's just free damage.

I should know how damage conversion/extra works but haven't had a need to look into it yet.
There's two stages of conversion, one intrinsic to the skill and one from non-skill sources like supports and tree.

There's the same kind of normalisation if trying to pull more than 100% from a source type, but you need to separate the two phases.

there is a specific order of conversion which iirc is the same as PoE1, and damage can be converted multiple times, but it can't make a loop because of said specific order

so here, 80% of your phys would become cold, 100% of which would then become lightning. 5% of your phys would be added as cold, all of which would become lightning. Your final hit would have 105% of your phys damage, dealt 85% as lightning and 20% as phys

That's how all item granted skills work, for clarity. Their support slots are determined by item level iirc? Or rather, the skill level can go up to 20 on i81+ items and if you are lucky enough to get that then it has all slots (I think. Double check wiki, I'm not an encyclopedia for this one yet, the tism hasn't kicked in as hard as in PoE1)

One of my biggest complaints right there. It's super inconsistent too. Some maps/areas will reload if I die two feet from the checkpoint. Sometimes I'll die in gods damned Timbuktu and it never even fades to black respawning me at my portal

There's a distinction between inherent skills and granted skills. Stuff like Spear Throw is more like the skills you gain from ascendancies than skills granted by items.
I would guess that the shapeshift skills are in the "inherent" category. The only way to boost that category is via things like supports and passives that add quality like the gemleg ones.

Granted skills have sockets based off skill level, which is rolled from item level at drop time.
