Hey it's okay, I'm an honorary old hag. Bad teeth, bad back, periodic mobility issues, a cane, shitty immune system.
Ave is left, we can love ourselves by ourselves only now
🫠 I miss her loot blessings
Well, new blood in CM team means old vibes never come back
It's true
Closer to 40 than 30 these days
I want myself to reach 30 in a lower pace because I just start to build everything at the beginning
Quite jealous for everyone who work in game companies and I'm confused why the whole world become current shape
Capitalism 👍
Experience experience experience experience experience still experience
You'll reach 30 at the same rate as everyone else
A lot of people in their 20s are still figuring what to do with their lives
Hiya, I'm 23 and don't have even a high school degree, low work experience, and still haven't been able to acquire the physically life-changing medication I need to be happier as a human being o/
Yeah
I didn't finish my engineering studies
I wonder how different those would've been if I had already had the ADHD diagnosis by then 🤔
I never think I should rebuild myself before too... Until I figured out what I want to do with my life
Deepseek is quite helpful for giving me suggestions on how should I change my mind to change my fate
Cant you make it yourself from natural ingredients?
Not in a safe manner that I am comfortable with, it's also really expensive
It's pretty much exclusively available to DIY as an injection, which I am very much not capable of doing.
@twilit mountain @junior oyster The timing on this is actually hilarious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBbmPLqpxfI
Alternative title: Two Middle Aged Bald Men Chat About What They Loved And Hated From Diablo /s
I mean it's obvious the key to making a good ARPG is having a bald studio lead...coincidence?
The only way to save LE is to make Judd go bald (this is a joke do not ban me)
Do not Path of Math me.
Finally, I'm freeeee. Spent the past couple weeks working my ass off
Oh deary. My W key seems to be going out. Might need to get a USB hub soon.
Well that didn't work as intended hold on
Dont worry I got it
I saw the announcement, haven't read it yet. I mean I read some of it.
Nothing I've read is surprising at all, though. Seemed pretty obvious EHG was bleeding money.
I'd buy an expansion, I never put a lot of weight into the "all future content is free" promise. I expected that would be unsustainable, but I do think they meant to keep the promise if they could.
My only concern is how the rest of the game's audience takes the news. Hopefully positively.
Well about that...
Generally speaking if you renege on your statements it doesn't go super well
Yeah, and I totally don't blame people being upset about that. For sure.
I just do think EHG acted in good faith even if the outcome might not seem it.
I think most crucially when the state that it's in getting ready to ask people for more is just like WEW LAD
These weren't circumstances created out of malice, but necessity. It's just unfortunate that these circumstances exist at all.
For me it's multi-layered issue. IF the game was in a finished state AND was consistently getting quality updates AND was being handled well, AND wasn't making locking all their good looking stuff to paid only, then sure, I think I'd be more understanding of paying for an expansion
Unfinished campaign
Bugs existing from before multiplayer patch
Endgame mechanics like arena and dungeons untouched for years
Classes missing skills
Absolute brain melting balance
"Hey let me get 30 bucks" lol
Yep, it's hardly surprising that a whole lot of people would be upset at the current state of things.
One could argue if the game was better managed from the beginning and had a more sustainable business model, this situation wouldn't exist. So it's no wonder people are upset.
Can I get a passable product first before you get ready to ask me for money. Not even great or even good. Like passable lmao
What if instead we just uh... make another big guy that drops mediocre loot that comes from a map icon you click on :D
I can't post the emote but picture it being the Pepe that walks out the door with a frowning face
Mike has supposedly been trying to push more "horde" mechanics. I feel like he's missing a bit of context, that being "we want shit to do that isn't monoliths pleeeeease"
PogCrazy Corruption number goes up and I killed the bigger pack and they vomited out ten trillion drops WAOW WAOW WAOW
Yippee
I like EHG as a company that makes an ARPG and I have less reasons to be upset since I tend to see myself as having extracted a lot of value out of LE already. I do really hope they get their priorities straight, especially the endgame (or lack of, in this case).
And they're gonna drop Ancient Timelost Primordial Uniques yippee
I don't get upset over not getting value out of things, I get upset over things I love being squandered or mishandled
(Ask me how I feel about KH4 still being nowhere near release)
For sure, I think a lot of us are emotionally invested in the games we play.
When we see shit decisions, it feels like a personal insult.
I'm not even emotionally invested anymore I'm just here to watch it all unfold and shit post and hang out with the Off Topic gang tbh
My give an eff left about a year and a half ago
Already gone through all the stages of grief
Nope I'm just here to do hoodrat shit with my friends 🙂
?
If you're a console dad gamer casual, LE probably has a lot to offer you and maybe the PS5 launch will actually bring in good revenue.
(It's a wet rat. No I'm not sure why I have that image on hand)
Hell no lmao. PS5 owners have far higher Standards
It's cursed and I hate it
Valid tbh
Just imagine how far into a D4 season most console players make it to. Not a very high paragon level, that's for sure. Most are unlikely to even see any endgame, despite the fact that you can get there on day one.
Yeah but like D4 is at its core a fun brain off experience that looks good
On one hand, hilarious to look at. On the other hand, oh gods wtf why is that what it looks like
Last Epoch is lacking in the looks good department by a country mile.
You think so? I wonder if my standards are just too low lol
I'll put it like this imagine going from Ghost of Yotei or Death Stranding 2 to Last Epoch
Really got me revving my engines
why on earth would I play LE on PS5 over Ghost of Tsushima / Horizon / Spiderman etc. etc.
DS2 has canonical Vtubers. LE doesn't stand a chance.
I think a better question is "why play LE on PS5 over D4 or PoE2" and I honestly don't know the answer there. There does seem to be an audience there, but my question is whether LE would appeal to a significant portion of that audience.
But orobyss is a maid vtuber
The thing with D4 is it's a legacy/brand name product on top of just being a casual smash some beers experience
PoE2 at least has game feel, atmosphere etc. LE has uhhhh sometimes the skill might work. Maybe not
Yeah, hard to say whether they'll be able to attract enough of the console ARPG audience to make this launch worth it.
More power to them and godspeed. But I ain't holding my breath
Also the development effort being expended to make the PS5 launch happen has surely got to be taking away from LE content updates, right? I mean, I don't see why it wouldn't.
I hope this tradeoff is worth it for them.
PEKORA PEKORA WAAAH
(I like VTubers)
SOGGED RAT.
Yo what tf is HP doing that they soldered the keyboard into the damn panel on my laptop??
Been sitting here slowly pulling my poor gal apart for the better part of two hours and cleaning as I went and I get to the biggest thing to be addressed and I can't access it
Need to buy from that modular laptop company
If I need a laptop for work I’m buying from Framework
There was also literal scotch tape in some spots. Like. Jesus. Y'all really cut as much cost as possible huh?
You got a paper mache cpu?
Yeah, HP machines are pretty intentionally made so it's hard to give them maintenance
I sent my laptop in to get fixed because it was under warranty and it came back more broken but I needed it for work so I just gave up
It still has all those issues too
130 people are left le server after I get up
.

A week is passed, no news from wolcen studio, I guess my portfolio 99% is rejected, 1% they still not view yet
I'm hitting different walls
I want to customize my laptop too... It's just no way in China even I can afford the fee
I'll say it's the advantage of USD environment
Own a laptop is ahead a lot of people already because Chinese are based on mobile lol
Chinese mobile app market is developing very fast
I'm not customizing mind you, just cleaning
(I'm still working on it, I had a panic moment because apparently my battery was just barely not plugged in despite me checking it three extra times and I started freaking out when it wouldn't turn on)
(Now I'm just cleaning my mid-ass mechanical keyboard one key at a time
Hmm i dont like mechanical keyboard, they sound too... choppy
You can get quiet or borderline silent ones
Here i am with typical office keyboard and asian kitchen red plastic chair
do you think connecting members from game companies on Linkedin will be helpful one day? (Of course, I must have enough personal value to provide otherwise they will not agree)
I still no idea how connection drive in a industry because I never taste the flavour
I hope it's grape flavored
That tasted purple
Yeah, my favorite
Chris is interacted with another master in game industry
i just got confused pulling out a key and going "wait I already put 6 on, wtf?"
...it's the 9 key
I get confused on the left and right alt
Thankfully those are identical on this keyboard, same for both control keys
Btw wtf is this thing called? Not the backslash part, the top bit
Colon?
No, that's the key with semi-colon
It's like a colon but with straight lines instead of dots
Ah right. I have no idea then
I feel I must switch different personality when I try to connect with professional people and player groups because things they care are different so I doubt all of my current actions on building my connection is silly and ridiculous under eyes of these experienced people because I just don't know how to play this game
@sand wigeon you, what's this thing?
Peepo wear different mask all the time
anyways, I still no idea which work should I submit to join fan art competition because I don't cook one yet
Ah she's in Tarkov. Nvm.
try to reach them is quite hard and tiring because of that
Wait is that actually pipeline/vertical bar? But your middle got wore off
That sounds like an accurate name for it
It never had a middle though
It looks like it does on my phone

I'll check my laptop keyboard as well when I get back up, see if it has a middle or not
Solve their problems... I even don't solve personal problems yet
More like to differentiate personal and professional working
Yup, it's called code-switching
People even do it around friends vs family, or sometimes just friends vs different friends
yeah i think it's just the vertical line key (it's always above backslash)
but idk why it's seperated like that
Does it have a writing purpose?
No idea how to over candidates who experienced in game industries and own more personal projects because it's endless if a competition here
Oh I see. I'm still very very fresh on learning anything with coding lol
Losers always more than winners but only winners will be noticed
ah yeah i gotcha, the article just says :
Pipe – Used in Linux to "pipe" the output of one command into another
OR operator – Acts as a Boolean logical operator meaning "one or the other is true" in programming languages like JavaScript
Parallel lines indicator – Signifies parallel lines in mathematics (double pipe ||)
idk what other uses it would have, i don't code
Can mario go down if you double pipe it?
Resisting urge to go on a 99% vs 1% spiel rn
I should ask deepseek again about my confusion
Hmm thats abit dangerous
i use Vi keys in roguelikes so i tend to use backslash and | some in rebinds, but yeah lol
I been tempting fate with the smitings lately
Vi keys?
Your keycap is screwed up and part of the symbol has worn away
It’s a vertical separator
“instead of numpad for movement” You do know modern players use WASD right
What is this sorcery
Ah I see. New term to me
i just got used to it when i started using a 60% keyboard
This is still okay
yeah a few roguelikes already comes with the option to use it, I play Caves of Qud a lot and it's already bound. I think DCSS you just have to remove a commented out section in the config files? I don't remember, I haven't needed to touch the dcss files in a while
nethack too i think, but i haven't played nethack in a while
For some reason every time I see the name Nethack my first thought is the wrong game; my brain shows me the Uplink UI first and then corrects itself.
uplink was a cool game
Played it a lot when I was young for some reason
there's a ui mod for that game, i forgot what it's called
i used it last time i played, was a good mod
I have finally finished cleaning keys
Good job
i bought a keychron keyboard last year, idk if you ever need a new one, but it's nice i like it
i got the aluminum base one
i think i'm gonna play some dwarf fortress tonight, i haven't played it in a while
I mean, I currently have blues which are way too loud tbh, so yeah at some point I'd like to grab a new one that isn't lol
Gah, I need to get used to this keyboard now
Been on the native laptop one for so long
Keychrons come with whatever you pick afaik
ah ok
i got mine off amazon instead of the direct site so maybe i didn't have as many choices 🤔
Yeah they make customs but plenty of pre-made selection too
huh, can you not rebind DF adventure mode keys in the steam version? Idk if anyone would know
i can't figure out how to do it through the menu lol
I'm not nearly crazy enough to play that game
so are you enjoying poe2 now? I remember you originally weren't going to play the league
curious what you think of it
I still have very big complaints (JSUT LET ME HAVE MY DAMNED PORTALS JONNY), but it's definitely far better than 0.1 and 0.2
0.1 was a travesty of a game.
yeah 0.1 was pretty bad lol
I'm hoping they continue this trajectory of... letting us have fun lmao
lol
Also I got baited into the patch by @warped wren posting a thorns build in my server and I stayed because I found out Gas Grenade was really funny
....cool floor loot?
Aight that's another 12 maps prepped, off we go
You can't build a future on a foundation of self-hatred. ---Deepseek

On the other hand, I self-hatred for 4 years but I still want to keep myself as an artist. Amazing power from the relief.
Wu Kong is as same as le, don't join in autumn sale... Alright
Fun ? Ewww we not aloud .only pain and suffering
Bashing head on stupid things is the way ( thank you who ever made souleater a thing)
Had funny moment in bpl in Poe 1 bashed a single blue mod from ritual for 3 min because it had one single life regen mod ,same map boss went down in less than 10 seconds lmao
🤔 From an entry for a previous fan art competition of poe, which all of them is ai-generated
Those are some pretty gnarly hands
The one on the left is ai gen
Bottom right maybe ... Just for the golems
Left is the duelist with the one hand axe it's reversed only ai can make this mistakes usually happens to fingers and toes
@fierce moth check the hideout completions ,people make crazy stuff there
Apparently someone from my town competes for it and she has a very nice touch
man i keep getting jebaited when yellow cue (jump) but maelle says "parry it"
is there any difference to who you pick to fight merchant?
Yes, having connections on LinkedIn is more helpful than not, absolutely.
This Chris Wilson interview with Arthur Bruno is going to be fun:
https://youtu.be/uBbmPLqpxfI
🤔 The 1st connection I made on Linkedin is interesting. That's Judd. I don't expect he know me xd
You know, none of CEO-level people don't busy
Back to the interview you shared, the first thing I think is "Which type of people have a chance to connect with CEO-level people like that"
Chris's connection just insane on the level of out of my box
didn't know E33 have some minor platforming
People who work in the same industry will often have many shared connections on LinkedIn. This looks good to recruiters when they see you have certain connections.
Pretty sure it's dependent on how big the 'ceo' is
I've talked to Casey from StS here and there just saying hello and whatnot
The actually annoying platforming in E33 is entirely optional, in case that's not your thing.
Obviously I don't just ping him in chat but if he makes a comment I reply back xD
Now if only I could fully avoid doing puzzles in crosscode lol
owh... i am still very early in the game, am jumping around pillar to get something lol
Yes I think it's the sense of conntection on Linkedin. Endorse from people they know
sts?
If I remember, around 193 or so
do you even have enough luminas to equip many
this feels like ff9, u learn many abilities but u only pick a few
Luminas are basically infinite if you farm them.
In your first playthrough, you certainly won't have that much Lumina.
Farming 💤
But they carry over to subsequent playthroughs in NG+
🤔 Interesting design for the official web (sts)
They have an official site? 😂
hmm i dont play NG+ usually but this game is nice so far. lets see
linkedin mostly felt like a circlejerk here, i didnt feel like it provides actual value here in Germany
Fan art
Not official art fyi
There are ways/places to farm Lumina even if it's just your first playthrough, if you were willing to. It's not really unreasonable, either. You can easily farm a lot.
I mean the way of this game studio to spotlight fan art is special
hmm thats a typical jrpg element there
Yep, 100%
Yea many games do that
also i like the mini worldmap
Including Terraria I think
https://forgottenarbiter.github.io/Is-Every-Seed-Winnable/ 🤔 Megaacrit even shared many knowledges about rng
Nope it's not from megacrit but they posted it on their site
Forgotten Arbiter (not to be confused with arbiter of ash) is a mod on their discord server and a modder
I think it's using a photography technique called Tilt-Shift: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tilt–shift_photography
Oops, meant to reply to the world map comment.
List favourite games for every members on official web, very cool 🤔 (terraria)
oh never thought about that.. it is just that the mini worldmap is beautiful and not too convoluted
Terraria is also like the 12th most sold game or something iirc
Yeah, beautifully done indeed
8th*
hmm all the new weapons found so far looks pretty dope
I'm with Cenx for sure lol
Link to the past is the best Zelda game and I'll die on that hill xD
systems programmer guy being a factorio fan is nothing short of what I expected
i liked all 2d zeldas especially the handheld ones
a link between worlds was amazing
Is that the one where he is in a dream world?
They made a remaster of it
Or at least it feels like he is in a dream world
I thought it was ok but gave up on the super long quest
its the successor of a link to the past basically
the one you think of was the gameboy one - link's awakening
Oh right
Maybe I'll get round to playing link between worlds someday then
LbW was released in 2013 wat da heck
yeah 3ds game 😄
just emulate it, should be fine on any pc nowadays
is there a way to check enemy's elemental weaknesses
I remember a pokemon game where you had to do a spin kinda thing on the touchscreen
From the ad I saw
Do right choices is quite important 🤔
nope they gave up on that with 3ds thankfully
the ds ones were touchscreen but people made mods for them too
Oh good I never owned a ds and tried emulating megaman zx (or something) and just couldn't get it to work back in the day
My steamdeck should be pretty much perfect for emulating games tbh
should work fine on it
minish cap is also fun but pretty easy
i still enjoy my little arm linux device more - you load a game, shut it down, it autosaves and loads on booting it up again
I have this and also still have yuzu xD
should probably get the bigger stuff going on my deck as well, could replay some gamecube stuff
Wait you can still download yuzu?
hard to actually remove things from the internet
Oh site still exists
But yea nvm can't download it
So if I ever lose yuzu that's it unless I pirate it
I don't know the specifics of Yuzu, but it's just an emulator right?
Yep
If the devs decided to take it down, that's whatever, but shouldn't be illegal to download it even if there's no official way to download it.
At least ryujinx still exists
I mean unless I post on a youtube vid or something that I have yuzu nintendon't can eat shit
Last I checked, emulation isn't illegal. Downloading ROMs for games you don't own is illegal.
ive updated my emudeck yday and it installed ryujinx
lets be honest the smallest percent actually downloads games they own
Yep
the issue with the switch emus was mostly devs being too cocky
That may be true, but it's the IP holder's burden to prove it.
As far as I know, Fane is using an emulator legally and he hasn't said otherwise :)
Yea I was specifically talking about the emu
Also nintendon't are pieces of shit that would do anything to take you down
I'm sure Nintendo would ban emulators if they could, though haha
not just them
So if they have said no to yuzu it's 'illegal' to have yuzu according to them
people focus a lot on nintendo when sony isnt a bit better
Yeah Nintendo just makes the biggest headlines in their aggression towards emulation.
PlayStation 1/2 emulation scene has been just as much of a mess, for sure.
I think nindendon't have had it worse because of Palworld
well the yuzu made several dumb missteps to get actually taken down
Yea the new zelda game lool
as in actually linking to illegally obtained keys to decrypt games
Did Yuzu actually go to court? Or did they simply capitulate to a Cease & Desist?
and locking versions optimized for games that werent released beyond pay tiers
I assume Yuzu never actually went to court.
Pretty sure they folded
Yeah, sounds like maybe it was just that they didn't want to deal with a legal battle. So technically no fault was admitted in a legal sense.
Can't afford court fees
well they did some weird shit on their discord apparently
iirc distributing games pre release to top tier donors
would have to check that again though
Oh yeah that would be bad lmao
It was something like that yea
Distributing intellectual property is bad news.
ryujinx folded because they didnt want to deal with it
And then boasting about it out in the open
i think actually just doing the emulator is fine - thats why most just work fine
Yeah and I don't think finding a way to download Yuzu would actually be illegal because the legality of Yuzu was never actually tested in court.
wouldnt that make it legal until its actually been made illegal
not that anyone cares about what a single enduser does
Until they boast
Yeah there's a difference between "we took down Yuzu because we didn't want to fight Nintendo in court" vs "Nintendo forced us to take down Yuzu by court order"
The first one means Yuzu should still be legal to distribute, the second one would mean Yuzu is illegal to distribute.
man switch on steam deck is a lot rougher than expected, either people can live with choppy performance or they just lie to others
Ok so super mario world or w/e it's called has super slow load times on the sd
However it to me feels like it runs overall smoother
I still have my Super Mario World SNES cartridge, that's one I can legally emulate :)
tried links awakening just now cos theres a blur removal mod and it ran at like 45fps tops
pretty choppy
Also links awakening and had some issues like big white line but was able to fix it with some mods
But it overall ran fine
Also maybe I'm just a bad gamer but I barely notice fps drops lol
It's the same way I feel about cgi in movies
i think its just very personal
i cant even use VA panels the smudging makes me feel ill
I generally see 30 FPS on a handheld as acceptable.
Like a lot of people hated BvS for many reasons but one of the biggest was cgi
Aside from the obvious mustache I never thought the cgi was bad in BvS lol
consistent fps work but drops and catching up is extremely annoying to me
True, inconsistent FPS would be super annoying
My issue with sd is mainly loading times and battery life for pretty much anything
youtube just recommended a video on how to run godot games on my cheapo handhelds, maybe its time to make a game again
Even steam verified games
battery life for my indies was pretty good
i dont really do demanding games on the handheld
Yea indies is fine
Yeah I don't think Steam Deck Verification considers battery usage at all.
PoE2 juiced maps not worth it as I found out loool
loading also kinda works fine for me even from sd card but again mostly playing older/smaller games
yeah i tried poe1 once and wouldnt play it on the deck
too choppy
PoE1 is fine on Steam Deck if you're just doing campaign
PoE2 is better for sd because less buttons but yea the lag is crazy
Well same with poe2 for campaign too
Less buttons? What kinda PoE1 builds are you runnin
In fact I think I prefer sd over my pc for campaign
i think i only tried endless delve on it
Flasks
pathfinder it up
Auto flask it
And yes I'm aware of auto flask
But it's not so possible during campaign or if you don't have the right mods
I don't touch flasks other than quicksilver and life/mana until I have auto flask available
That's still 3 buttons extra
I s'pose
Most PoE1 builds just have like, one button, movement button, and maybe a buff or two
2 flasks in poe2 feel much easier to handle
i was kinda hyped for FFT on my steam deck but it looks pretty bad and the price is lame
If you compare PoE1 vs PoE2 campaign builds, I think PoE2 does probably end up with less buttons because of flasks.
Oh yea ofc I played srs so I was pressing extra buttons for sure
Although, I hate PoE2's default controller mapping. I like the mapping for PoE1 more.
Dunno can't stand poe1 and grim dawn on the steamdeck
The only good arpgs that run well in terms of controls for me are poe2 and le
I guess slormancer too but I haven't played much of it
Slormancer endgame on Steam Deck has been unplayable for me haha
But I mean, that's true for PoE1 and PoE2 as well, I guess
It'd be the same for LE if we could actually juice LOOOL
Slormancer endgame us barely playable on PC, that's why it's peak
True lmao
I gotta get back to slormancer someday
15 FPS gaming let's go
Especially now that I'm done with poe2
posting a mid bosskill, still average at the game
silksong spoilers ||https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kwqthkKpZs||
see a Reddit post of an indie dev making a game that's vaguely a Metroidvania
comments are full of people bashing them for making one and "trying to ride on Silksong's popularity"
Holy shit are people not allowed to make games ina vaguely similar style anymore?
Like, the gameplay isn't even remotely similar, the closest aspect is it is 2D without pixel art and it... has platforming I guess? Like, the combat isn't similar, it has a bloody hit combo system like DMC, and it has a SKILL TREE like Salt & Sacrifice
The skill tree isn’t all that similar
Wait wasn't HK mocked in the beginning?
And more accurately, Salt and Sanctuary
Or the dev of it
But the art style and motion blur stylization are reminiscent of Salt and Sanctuary
Pretty sure some folks called it an Ori clone
And then Ori cloned Hollow Knight lol
“cloned”
the studios are on good terms, you get what i mean
My game won’t have a minimap
Nor action combat
In fact my game will be a wall of paint that slowly dries
And you will buy it for $90
pointcrow moment
I am nothing like that twink
My paint wall will be the Osamu Dazai of paint walls
And I will also make @twilit mountain do everything
Deluxe edition where you get poisoning for $130
Games are cool, though. I would like to actually make one someday.
Alas, the only skills I have are in writing and design
Which makes it hard to get going without art or a technical lead
@neon sigil sir, say art things, I'm not awake enough yet
silksong for me scratched the "actual world with things in it" itch
open world games lately feel empty
Yeah, it did that well, though I don’t think I’d try to make a game that feels that way myself
it's just a very particular thing that for some weird reason feels absent from today's market
not because nobody's trying to do it
I think I’d disagree
they just don't really get there
I think you’re just not playing the right games
I just don't like open world games
I mean hey, only time for so many games
outside of elden ring or dogma 2 I can't think of a game that made me say "ok this world isn't 90% running around"
both hk games though did hit that mark
and I'm hoping nioh 3 does too
But that is ER, it's just 90% running around with 5 skeletons every twenty steps
Sunless Sea IS literally 90% boating around but it makes that fun
You'd think r/gamedev is more about making games, but last I checked the entire subreddit is almost singularly focused on "how do I make my game profitable"
And yeah ER has an infamously terrible open world
I don't know. I did like it, maybe different vibes resonate with different people
it's littered with bosses which is also my thing
I think Elden Ring was a bad game so
(I do not like the very genre ER is in so I'm also super, super biased)
I kept looking under every metaphorical rock pile while playing Elden Ring, all the while hoping something would change my mind or make it make sense
@sand wigeon beeeep beeeep beeeeep beeeep beeeeep
to be fair you aren't expecting roleplay or story heavy rewards to come from exploration in elden ring the way you'd expect it from say morrowind
Repeat bosses, empty over worlds, empty POI’s, the only time it felt like I was playing a finished game was in the legacy dungeons, and even then mostly just Stormveil Castle
it's mostly "cool boss, oh cool broken item"
I didn’t expect either of those
I scoff when people call ER an RPG
it's as much an rpg as silksong is
So not at all
Wha
yep
like... barely at all 😭
I definitely do like the "rpg progression" in it with the +ing of gear
but that's a bias I carry from lineage 2
(I think I can talk about Elden Ring, to people who think I just don’t know what I’m talking about)
But Silksong is? Not a classic RPG, but definitely an RPG still? It has a clearly laid out story with characters and consistent dialogue throughout that tells you of the world it's in and the experiences of the NPCs around you?
Yeah, Elder Scrolls games are RPGs in the actual sense of the genre.
Yeah, rpg nowdays is a lot more character statistical development focused, the shift leaned towards "numbers"
Which is stupid
That's stupid
You play a clear role in a game, it's a role playing game
Open and shut
I think immersing yourself into the character and the world around that character is a huge defining part of the role-playing aspect of an RPG.
You play a role in every game
No you don't
In RPG’s, you define the story actions your character makes
Look at Cyberpunk
Look at Fallout
yeah you play a role in most games that aren't impersonal like idk, geometry dash or something generic
Yeah, Cyberpunk and Fallout are real RPGs.
Skyrim leans less on the RPG part, but other TES games are RPG’s
This is why I hate genre names
You’re too literal
fallout is times more of an rpg than elden ring is, but still, it carries the statistical growth aspect which is what helped push the focus towards that, when defining a genre
Like, I wouldn’t say Pacific Drive is an RPG
I’d say it’s a narrative exploration game
But The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante is definitely an RPG
That's not really a genre though. I can think of like, two other things I could apply those words to.
LE is near devoid of any aspect of heavy narrative, let's be honest the story is barebones and you walk on rails and yet the statistical aspect of it is still good enough to brand it an rpg. The opposite isn't always true. People will never call a game an rpg if there's no "numbers"
Then it’s an exploration game
ARPGs were traditionally called Hack and Slash IIRC.
Once upon a time yeah. That got moved over to things like DMC for some reason
Same genre actually
The point is that genre names are stupid and pointless when you try to take them all literally
Early AC was a stealth game actually
All they’re meant to do is give you a general idea of what the game is like from a glance
And that doesn’t require genre names to be exact
Combat was deliberately made clunky to make you not want to do it
which iphone is it?
"Souls-like" does a better job of setting expectations for a game than say "RPG"
I don't think anybody would go ahead and put the rpg label on something that has the statistical growth of say, a 2d zelda game
mostly because soulslikes mostly do have a stat screen and gear
But... they are :(
IPhone 12 Mini
if they didn't, I doubt the community would recognize them as such
I've always taken Soulslike to be a descriptor of the gameplay style
yeah, same way arpg is basically diablo clones
Yeah I'd agree Souls-like describes the gameplay you can expect more than anything.
I have played almost every somewhat main stream souls-like
Do not do that BTW
Most of them suck
Monster Hunter is a soulslike and you cannot change my mind
It is
Or you play them and go “I see what they were trying to do, but they couldn’t quite get there, and so this sucks.”
Looking at you, Thymesia and Nioh 1.
As long as they don’t remove my ten minute cutscenes I’ll be happy
Tokichiro was the best part of Nioh 2
I always try to play in the game's original intended VA, even played Wukong in Mandarin and really enjoyed it
I should do that
Incredibly annoying spot for a...something. idk. I don't see a splinter in there but it feels like it
wukong is on my to play list but my backlog doesn't stop growing
I played Diablo 4 in the original VA too
D4 has amazing voice acting
I'll be honest I disagree
It's partly the reason I even felt like doing small side quests
Why's that?
It's been so long since I played D4 at a volume high enough to actually hear the VA, so I don't have a good memory on what it was like lol
It just felt too much like they were emphasising the 'Russian' kind of accent
I do remember the major character VAs being really good, though.
The... what?
Not saying it in the political sense
I just... something I don't feel familiar with
Like I'm used to American/British acc
D3 was mostly American iirc
And d2 for that matter
I think we play very different games
I remember liking Lorath (obviously), Inarius, Lilith, Mephisto, Prava and even Neyrelle's VAs.
I would say the games I play most often have latino characters
👀 marco bucci does some great videos on light and color theory if ya want something chill to watch
Korvath is one small part
And I suppose Canadian accents
The entire content not including the dlc
also I found an art tutor. Wish me luck @twilit mountain
Yea those were good except for prava personally
Good luck! Art Tutor... You mean art education in a university?
Let me look... I play a lot of Stalker and Tarkov, that's Russian. Same with Chernobylite. Disco Elysium mostly has French and latino accents (from all over.) Destiny 2 has a mix of a lot of things. Clair Obscur has French accents. The Long Dark has Canadian accents. Pyre has a bunch of different things...
That's all I can immediately think of
I've not played any of them
I love Disco Elysium's English VAs
Except De2 for like 10minutes
I think you just don't have a very broad perspective then
Honestly even Kim's voice acting was good in Disco, it's very "plain" but still was easy to connect with given the game's story and context.
He has a French accent yeah
Maybe poe2 has some of the different accents but I never noticed
I love Call me Mañaña’s voice acting
ARPG's aren't really the place to look for diversity
How about Cuno? LOL
Cuno is amazing too
100%
I love his final expose in the last sequence
DE is famed for having amazing voice acting across the board
THE THICKEST RUSSIAN ACCENT EVER THROUGH A ROBOTIC FILTER: YOUR OPPONENTS ARE LEADING, BUT DO NOT WORRY, YOU hAVE COME BACK FROM WORSE
Yea I honestly don't think I got a single game that has Russian accents (that obv aren't the bad guys at least)
Oh red alert 2 😂
Opachki!
Good luck!!!
'See you're libertea' xD
Russian accents do seem to be very uncommon in games. I love Russian accents in English, would love to hear more of it in games.
Yea maybe I won't feel it as off-putting if I see it more often in games that I like
One of my favorite factions in Warhammer 40,000 lore are the Night Lords space marine legion. They are often voiced and narrated with a Russian (or Eastern European) accent. I love it so much.
Ngl this is probably the most Russian accent I've heard and I'm 100% sure it's not Russian https://youtu.be/sHgfvGVinBI?t=182
Yeah Command & Conquer is pretty much US vs Russia cold war fantasy based in the future if I remember.
my favorite russian is tim curry
lmao
Him trying to not laugh gets me all the time
i wonder why they haven't remastered RA2 and C&C2
He do be right though 😔
I really really want an ra2 remaster
Don't even care about making the cutscenes better either
People have been wanting a refresh of C&C for so long that a whole ass game recently came out to fill the void, it's called Tempest Rising.
Wdym they released that C&C mobile game..............
I've wanted total annihilation but BAR exists so
that thing was such a slap in the face lmao
Hah, lmao
Although I suck at BAR
i'm a stronghold fan personally and we're eating good
A remaster and DLC, if I remember
the definitive editions are solid (tho i think multiplayer is buggy? I haven't played multi yet so dunno)
a friend and i were going to do the co-op campaign but we havent' gotten around to it yet
Tempest Rising trailer which is very reminiscent of Command & Conquer: https://youtu.be/L_w9CLj8P5E
Yeah, RTS is just a dying/dead genre in general.
It had its glory days with Age of Empires, Starcraft, WC3 etc.
i'm surprised crate is doing an rts
In an alternate timeline it would be total annihilation in place of SC
Cold War US vs Russia fantasy 👁️
(I know what Command and Conquer is, I'm just making an inside joke with Deias)
The god damn Ministry
The GOD DAMNED MINISTRY
They are? Seems like a weird choice. It's commonly said that platformers are the most saturated and therefore worst genre to make a new game for these days, but I tend to think RTS is actually the worse genre lol
yeah it's the game they're working on after farthest frontier
they're doing a new engine for it too
Interesting. They're also doing GD2, although that doesn't go into pre-production until next year. Although Crate (Zantai specifically) has confirmed that the new engine which was created for GD2 is actually complete at this point.
speaking of farthest frontier it leaves early access this month
Dope, I'm sure Crate's gonna be happy to move on to their next projects.
ah i see, yeah in the chris wilson interview it's rts then gd2 on that engine or something
is what arthur said anyway
Oh both the RTS and GD2 are gonna be the same engine?
I've begun realizing I like "war" games. As in games about war or managing war but not the massive scale of something like Warhammer.
In that case, the engine is already completed then.
Isn't Crate like 20 odd people?
So football manager but war?
More like Rebel Inc
Not sure, but in the interview with Chris Wilson they said they made GD with 7 people.
(Which I am actively playing)
Last I remember they said they had 13 peeps
And I've really enjoyed getting into war history in my fiction writing, since it's urban fantasy, and has to draw from real wars
yeah it's been in ea for a long time, i think the gd expansion slowed it down a bit
but i'm really looking forward to it releasing
i do kind of wish it was in the GD setting tho, i think they could've done some interesting mechanics with the aetherials and chthonics
I like that Arthur used the success of GD to let himself and his team at Crate just build a game they actually wanted to make and not necessarily what was the most profitable to make.
Very viable as a small studio
And that's how we have Farthest Frontier, which I own but havne't really played much. Still, sounds like they enjoyed building it.
Looks like it was probably a successful venture for them, too.
crate makes good games
Yeah, I think when you're allowed to follow your passions, you make great things.
i just hope the rts does well for them, cause that's a risky venture i think more so than their other games
Yeah I mean, I don't like GD myself but it's a good game
Fair
I'm capable of separating that, y'know?
Same
Yeah, a rare skill these days, it seems.
Actually every game sucks.
I never liked tl2 but I understand it was a hit for many people
Consequently, I love the KH series and those games are garbage
They're suuuuuper divisive
i always thought the inclusion of final fantasy stuff in those games were weird to me
i only played the 1st one though, and i didn't finish it
Especially as you get later into the series. Lots of people abhor KH3 and it's just like... maybe consider that you liked the older games because you were a kid 20 years ago?
For me I loved bastion but absolutely dislike hades
Yep. I've gone back and replayed some older games and realized how I don't have the same fondness for those games as I did when I was playing them as a kid/teenager.
Not dissimilar to how I loved D2 when it came out, but have no problem saying that it's not a good game in 2025.
Chrono trigger is never like this for me
I hate Hades because it's a garbage roguelike, not because it's a bad game
(it's a good game)
pyre 2 when
I still wish we got a proper and good sequel to ct. Cross is a game I wish was in it's own universe
I need to finish Pyre tbh. It's a really unique game, but I moved not long after I got it
I tried pyre but it definitely wasn't my kinda game
I have good memories of Chrono Cross, even if it's not considered a good sequel.
Chrono Cross was such a beautifully made game.
Yea if it wasn't tied to ct I'd consider it a really good game
I hate it specifically because of it being a sequel of sorts
It's definitely niche. I don't blame you.
the only one i didn't like was bastion tbh, but i can't remember why
it's been a while since i played it
Can't hurt to try again. if you still don't maybe you'll figure out why, and maybe you'll find you do now
Pyre is one of my favorite games ever made
nah just some guy that I want to learn from.
Are you plan to join in poe 2 fan art competition?
Maybe, im not sure. Im workin on refining my pixel art rn
I'm struggling with the basics of sketching instead
Never learn basics of drawing so I think it will time-consuming if I want my acrylic painting looks non-amateur
i like how merchant just do a leg sweep and i died in 1 hit
A few details are lacked in Wolcen so the experience isn't good...
- I wish I can summon windows bar anytime so I prefer borderless window, but if I select this option, I can't summon windows bar or take screenshots, so the only option for me is windowed.
- ps4 controller don't be supported in this game
- The 1st skill is fireball, but this skill cost lots of "mana" (it call willpower in this game) so combats are interrupted by out of mana often
.... My cursor is disappeared, my windowed sink at the bottom of screen too. It cause I can't watch the game screen entirely
But I see le have learnt some from wolcen's design
energy shield in poe/poe 2, ward in le, force shield in wolcen. Interesting
No tooltip of exclusive terms is one of outdated points in wolcen too
finally time to play f.. work >.> weekend is gone
Wanted finishe PoE 2 to switch something different before some interesting update in ARPG's will come
to be honest i would rather wanna some inovation than repreat of same features just differently named..
sometimes you get at least energy/stamina vs Mana
hah quite tough to learn exclusive terms in wolcen because I need to search them one by one on Fandom's wiki, many of them don't available and I don't understand yet after checked the info
welp you know "wolcen" franchise and after latest changes i dont even except to get any official support for players
I don't have an answer to 1
But, for 2 you should be able to force it with compatibility software if needed (DS4Windows usually works), and for 3 the game is balanced around "generator/spender" gameplay but with an attempt to make skills both at once, so you use a skill to spend one resource while generating another resource for a different skill to cycle back the opposite result.
Yes, #1 is too bad. 4 conditions I must do to take a screenshot:
- Windowed in display
- Pin my windows taskbar
- I don't mind exposing my windows taskbar in screenshot
- Cursor have clicked windows taskbar
Details determines the quanlity... Realistic.
🤔 ?
Sacred being under the occult tab is peak lore 😭
lol quite funny... I don't notice arrows are available to click at all...I just miss that. Buttons are too matched with the UI
why so big urge playing wolcen right now ?
I don't want to burn out in poe 2/le, I want to learn a new loot-based ARPG, I can't accept outdated graphics, wolcen is on sale
you have high demands.. best games are with outdated graphics
The rhythm of combats in wolcen better than tq 2 a lot.
Yes, that's why I'm quite picky on games and missed many popular games
I'm not sure what I want to get from a game sometimes even. You can say I still develop my interest in playing games. Just "gameplay".
Gameplay designer is the core of a game without doubt. Games requires interactions, not just epic art style. I still learning to accept this point.
Magic find. Ok I'm glad that I have played GGG's games before
It call magic find directly in wolcen
Did PoE 2 increased droprates ? why i grinded today 3 divines already
The interview between Chris and Arthur Bruno and the fact they talk about potentially joining a publisher
Crate dodged a bullet can't lie
LE probably could have done the same if they went offline only
I really wish E33 can access enemy weakness without having to remember them
Just remember the weakness
ez
there's only like 1000 different enemies (i've no idea how many there are actually)
From the kickstarter page
They wanted it to be online
Yea I'm aware
Was a kickstarter xD
I'm saying they could have made the game with fewer devs possibly if they did just offline
Who's Arthur Bruno again?
Grim Dawn ceo of sorts I guess
Director I think?
I'm so used to Zantai as the face of GD cuz of streams and his grim misadventures lol
Grimd dawn is gold but their approach for later developing is mess.. XXX old game and rather than push new game (because they have just not enough things for making better engine or simple switch to newer one) they making DLC's
After the rts and gd dlc #3 they plan on making gd2
I think they got an engine ready for gd2
You'd also get less content if it's offline only
There is barely any content currently anyway
Ah yea, I'm way too sued to Zantai
I remember in one of their streams they got asked about possible GD2 but this way years ago
Compared to 1.0 we got tons of new cool things imo
Straight up denied it for so long lol
1.0 had the 4 dungeons already right?
Uh probably but no nemesis, no tombs and no Dino's ofc
I also wish we'd finally get the gd expansion
Same
Silly me thought they'd release it I. 2025
I thought StS2 would be 2025 too lol
https://youtu.be/MjcIT8CftWo?t=82 age like milk loool
🤔 The classic colour combo here again. Black marble with golden ornaments
Looks like le
Do wolcen have stashes?
🤔 I don't find stash yet, maybe I don't unlock
oh I missed that, ok
I believe the stash is in the top of the square where all the merchants/crafting are

uhh... how good is sciel? i dont really like the sun and moon thingy
Sciel is 10/10
What's sciel?
Sciel ?
E33 playable character
Ssky?
I guess it fits the "sun and moon thingy"
ahh
Ciel in french means sky
i feel like Gustave is starting to fall off
So Sciel is a stacker
that makes speed stat important to her huh
Ah, still in act1 right?
Yeah, that's how I figured
i think Lune goes well with Maelle and as a general support or elementalist if you build her that way
but ehh... idk about ciel
Gustave isn't doing much now either
Sciel is the best waifu
waifu huh
Why yes
Though you can ignore me
I haven't actually played the game and know very little of it
And i might or might not be making things up
I only watched a friend play it a little so I basically just know the character names
i think i will bench her for now
Just bench Gustave
nobody will miss him
have all woman team
i wanna bench gustave too tbh but he can apply poweful for 3 turns, thats the only redeeming part
I like this idea LMAO
I've nothing but good ideas
I'm not sure if you can even bench Gustave, seeing as he has the main character thingy going on
You can for combat, story-wise he's still around
I'll take Gustave for now just cause he can apply powerful
Yeah ofc he wouldn't just leave the story stuff
I remember doing this in Grandia II
man it gets crazy when u pick picto just based on the active stats that they give instead of the picto effect itself, then u pick lumina for their effect
but u will need tons of lumina
Ez
just get tons of lumina
no questions asked
okay, so E33 also have a grubfather
I like my Maelle with short-hair, now she looks abit like Fiora from LoL
all these humours with the Gestral
Every character can be built to be top tier (except maybe Gustave)
my man Gustave does fall off huh, i already felt it early game
Also welcome to Expert mode haha
its fun sire
I realized the graphical assets in E33 are actually less refined (some asset looks polygon-ish). Could be the style they are going for, but they still looks okay generally. Also, the game dont take tons of harddisk space.
Is this one of those gameplay > graphic kinda game like Sekiro
. The graphic looks just good enough that you generally accepts that as it is. More importantly, the combat is
how is this pronounced as fran-suah?
Ask google
Dang i though i finish poe 2 today but i dont have currencies on fragments >.> and no citadels so far found
dont want divines.. i just want fragments, try boss if kill throw game out of my list 😄
http://www.bearstearnsbravo.com
This video shows you how to pronounce Francois. Learn the correct American English pronunciation of the French given name.
- The name François is pronounced frahn-SWAH. It is a French name, so it's pronounced using French rules, not English. The final "s" is silent, and the "oi" diphthong is pronounced as "wa"
da French rule
diphthong... wat?
Don't think about it too hard
Heck...
If I knew just how easy it was to get 1000 points I would have been playing yesterday lol
Ngl though I don't think I'm gunna be farming doing much more though
Hatsune Miku
Yep
I mainly farmed it for a fomo gear 😂
Loool ain't no way I'd be getting top 1000 xD
You have to farm like crazy and win practically every run
hah...This world just quite amazing
Oh wait that's not Hatsune Miku... Let me search its English name
🥴 ...Alright. She's disappeared since last year.
Somehow i watched her play Apex Legend for abit before i forgor about her
Same thing but with Lifecoach on twitch
I used to watch him play StS but yea he's been offline for over a year
@neon sigil @sudden anchor I want to share an interesting video...
The Case for Making Art When the World Is on Fire | Amie McNee | TED https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDs2d3dJtYk&t=134s
It discussed why this world need our art.
Go on doing what you like and create your path. That's the sense of our life
I asked similar question 3 days before I saw this video lol
As an average, non-artistic consumer... I have seen plenty of AI art that I like. There are games I've seen using AI art that I would pay for because I'm simply ignorant about where that art comes from and ultimately it doesn't matter to me whether the art is made by AI or human, I'll open my wallet for whatever look good to me.
I know that's not what most artists want to hear, but it's my truth. And I kind of suspect it's the truth for most people who consume any kind of artistic media.
Right now, there's a huge gap between AI art and human art because most mainstream AI image models have glaring flaws. But as we've seen with the launch of Sora 2, there's an enormous demand for AI art that actually looks good.
I can imagine people like you will more and more, it's why artists are worrying about their future
Yes, my assessment of art is "does it look good to me? do I like it?"
"Who made this art?" does not really factor into my decisions.
Also it's kinda hard for non-artists (or non-art appreciators) like me to tell the difference between ai art or human art
I've looked at art thinking it's ai generated but then it's not
And vice versa
Yes, the gap is rapidly closing. Plenty of artists are now being accused of making AI art even when they aren't. This is happening probably because it's getting harder and harder for even artists to tell the difference.
The speaker said "we're born to create art", but I think the other question is how to think of "Art from learning ai tools is my art too".
i saw a thread of someone getting sued cause they said a book was ai generated
and left a review
I simply don't like paying for something that isn't human creation. The machine has no creativity, thought, or desire to it, and no inputting prompts into it is not even remotely in the same realm as someone sitting down and painstakingly going over every single line of their piece.
Welp time to remove these bookmarks now that I'm done with poe2
Yeah ultimately I don't really give a shit if it's AI or humans w.e. just as long as you're up front about it. Same way in body building and Hollywood I don't give a shit if you use steroids just don't lie
(Note that I have friends whose art has been deliberately scraped by AI models so I have a bit more personal distaste for how they operate)
There is an "ethical" argument here akin to factory farmed meat vs free range. Obviously there is a whole other health-related argument to this particular example, but if you ignore that and only consider the more practical cost-related argument, it's very similar.
As an average consumer with little to no artistic talent, I'm finding it increasingly hard to tell the difference between AI-generated art vs human-created art. This gap is only going to shrink, not widen.
We can agree to blame capitalism, but everyone knows capitalism isn't going anywhere so it doesn't really lead to any practical discussion in the context of consuming AI art vs human art.
I personally have no emotional investment in the process of creating art, and maybe that makes me a bad person in some ways, but I do think that most consumers are going to have that same mindset when it comes to their purchasing decisions.
I mean, I do in fact abhor most consumer's mindsets. People generally want "more more more" without thinking of the why or how they get.
I won't touch the capitalism comment because whenever I speak on that I set off Kain's radar and get muted, but I will simply say capitalistic society makes me beyond angry
I'm of the opinion that a practical way forward for artists within the established capitalist constructs of our society in a future where AI appears to be taking over, is to accept AI as a tool they can use to enhance their craft and create more artistic value. If existing artists don't adapt, new artists will emerge who do.
I don't expect that generative AI is going anywhere given that it's projected market cap within the next 5 years is over a trillion dollars.
Most artists are already using AI tools with their art. That is not the same as generative AI and it is disingenuous to say so.
At this point the question isn't "can we stop AI?" ... it should be "how can we survive in a market dominated by AI?"
i hope the ai market crashes, i would laugh
There are chat models and there are image models, they're both still generative models. You can certainly use chat models as a tool to assist with the creation of art, but there are also tools that use image models to touch up on your art in one way or another without generating the entire artwork. These are still generative models. The idea of generative AI isn't limited to a model generating the entire artwork.
I forgot who I was speaking to so I'm just going to leave because every time you talk on this topic my respect for you drops significantly
Fine-tuning with Generative Fill or Generative Expand, for example, is growing in popularity in Photoshop: https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/generative-fill.html
Artists aren't the only people affected by AI. My field, software engineering, is also greatly affected by it. Maybe even more so, because current AI chat models are better at generating code than AI image models are at generating images.
I can't stop the emergence of generative AI for software engineering no more than artists can for art. That battle has already been lost. So I won't apologize for taking a pragmatic mindset about how I can continue to exist in this future.
what a hero
If I don't adapt and incorporate AI into my workflow, I'll eventually lose my job simply because I fell behind compared to my peers who did. I'm not going to risk my own livelihood to make some kind of moral argument against AI, that doesn't help me pay rent, my bills, buy food etc. And my suggestion to artists is to have the same pragmatic mindset for when the time comes that AI vs human art is truly indistinguishable.
If the argument is "you should be willing to put your job on the line to make that moral argument against AI" then consider that loss of respect mutual.
see if everyone puts their job on the line, nobody puts their job on the line.
that’s how unions and strikes work, too!
the failure in execution comes from non-committing fools like you who are scared of people that care nothing for you
have a good day
"If everyone didn't buy a smartphone, there would be less people suffering in Chinese factories"
Let me know when you throw away all of your devices.
This is a difference between technology one has been forced to use and a failure in human engineering that is still objectionable if you worked with your local unions and worker’s bureaus
I work, too. Maybe my job could theoretically be done with AI. But neither I nor my employer would prefer that outcome.
There is still change that can be made here. There are ways to prevent a market collapse built on the failures of an offhanded, incomplete program.
One that cannibalizes and consumes itself.
By choosing nothing, you have chosen your side and the outcome you’d prefer
I don’t wish to be on that same side
Real
Inaction is action.
That’s my point.
You let corporate greed trample you and every other worker by choosing nothing.
You work to reinforce a consumerist culture responsible for the untold suffering of millions, if not billions. As do I. Even if not directly, indirectly, in so, so many ways that you probably haven't even considered. My job is my livelihood, I see nobody in my industry taking a stand. I will not take a stand, and I'm one of the few who actually has a strong opinion about it.
I don’t work to do that actually
I put my work up online for free
It is freely available for anyone
And this is why we have things such as unions to protect the workers who do take a stand
And yet, it's built on human suffering on many different levels. The capital you earn is by definition suffering manifested.
Doesn't look like taking a stand helped automation replacing jobs long before AI, either.
Because the world is built on suffering it’s impossible to do better, so I may as well do worse?
Uh
You know why it didn't help? Consumers. You know why consumers made it possible for automation to replace human workers? Prices went down.
Have you heard of unions
They did in fact help
Like, that’s just… categorically not true
We’re seeing a union fight against AI right now, with SAGAFTRA
Automation eliminated a whole category of human errors that led to more efficient factories. Some jobs may have been saved, but automation largely swept in unopposed. Countless people lost factory jobs in the wake of automation.
Situation of AI usage:
- For what it should be used ? - Automatization of your work, helping making templates which are routine in your work
- What ppl use for it ? Doing whole work but with bad quality whatever its IT, Graphic field or some paper work
Now What corporates which you work for thinks AI should be used and help with your work ? Obviously 2-b
2-b - AI should short your work a lot because it does your "Whole work" while you doing "finishing touches"..
-- there are even exteremes where somebody think AI is on such high lvl that they can replace that worker...
And this is your reasoning to… support AI?
You’re saying that a similar thing happened before and it was awful which is why we should do it again! Hell yeah!
Unions did help. Workers bureaus helped minimize damage, but damage was most certainly done.
From a productivity standpoint, AI as a tool to supplement my workflow does in fact make me more productive, yes.
Until your idiot employer doesn’t realize it still needs a human controlling this.
And then you’re fired, and the business scrambles to course correct, and then fails if they’re anything smaller than a bubble.
To be clear, I don't think automation replacing humans in factories is awful.
I think the loss of jobs is awful.
Those two are different things.
I will not engage because I can see this is going nowhere
I am trying to understand you but I do not think you are understandable
I encourage you to better analyze your views
Anyway
If I had my way, companies would be paying a tax on automation (including things like AI) to pay towards a safety net for people whose livelihood was impacted.
That’s nice
Anyway
The newest Destiny 2 DLC has such a funny story mechanic
They took the Metroid ball mode and just made us able to do that
It’s really funny looking
We technically turn ourself into “dark matter,” but it’s really just a fancy way of saying “metroid ball mode.” It’s used for puzzles and exploration and stuff.
My only criticism of the mechanic is that you have to do it at specific Matterspark stations, I wish we could freely swap back and forth (though I obviously understand why they don’t want us to be able to do that.)
Me popping matterspark during DPS phase
Being someone who is very close to the AI technology space and its development, I can tell you the gap between #1 and #2 is closing.
Right now, yes AI is kinda bad at "making the whole thing" but this gap is closing more and more. I agree that #1 is how AI should currently be used, and it is in fact how I use it.
However, I think everyone whose job would be impacted should get ready for what happens when option #2 is capable of consistently creating high quality work. That time is coming.
