You need to follow the wisp trail corresponding with your color of NPC. The trails lead either to clearings with a small event or mini boss, or the NPC. The NPC can also appear multiple times in each map (any combo of multiple NPC types and multiples of each). If you’re running every wildwood portal you come across and not even seeing the NPC for 15 levels, you’re prob not following the trails well enough. Now on the other hand, finding your quest bosses can be a nightmare…

Almost every wildwood map should have at least one of each quest NPC, but the areas are pretty big and you only get to expose a small chunk of it so there’s definitely some luck factor involved

And if you start veering off your colored trail and burning off your light source to clear the other colors (or no color) it’s gonna lead to worse results

On some map seeds you’re not even going to find a trailhead for your color until you get partway out, which definitely feelsbadman

Not about the layout, I know there are some affixes I should avoid depending on builds, but generally do I keep white map or only do blue and above?

White maps = easier. Blue maps = mediumish and yellow maps = harder

That said their are also tiers of maps up to 16

The higher the tier the harder the content you can get in maps

1-5 = easy. 6-10 = medium and 11-16 = harder

Typically you want to alch all your maps but for completions sake I think you can do 1-5 as white (or maybe blue I can't remember). 6-10 have to be done as yellow. And 11-16 have to be done as yellow and then corrupted (with a vaal orb)

To count for "objective completion", white maps must be done magic, yellow maps must be done rare, red maps must be done corrupted + rare

That's why pushing into reds on league start often feels like hitting a brick wall. You have limited red maps and you're often forced to run them with horrible mods because you can't modify them once they're corrupted (barring a couple specific exceptions)

These days in poe people rarely have more than 5k hp, you're better of giving priority to max res, phys taken as, dodge, block, armour etc

The rule is you want a solid mitigation to any kind of damage
