#Can't import premade deck

Hover over the status in the details report. It will tell you what the problem is.
I will once I have more time
?
Yep. That's why. You have those notes already, but you or the deck author has modified the note type. You've got to choose import options that match what you want to have happen in that situation.
is there a way to make it so that it creates a duplicate of te note type
i clicked the mmerge note type and it overwrote my cards lmao
i should've made a bacup 😔
i reimported my original deck
is there a way to just overwrite specifically the media
or at least, just one field specifically (the Audio field)
both decks are the same thing, the difference is that the deck i used to use taught Northern Vietnamese with the Nom script while I wanted to listen to Southern Vietnamese audio while keeping the nom intact (since the southern vietnamese deck doesn't have nom)
Edit > Undo is your first option.
Otherwise, restore from an automatic backup or force a one-way sync from another device.
You only want to import one field from the new APKG and add it to your existing notes?
if that's not possible i'll just go ahead and get myself an API key for whatever service out there supports southern vietnamese (google tranlsate is free but it supports just northern, which isnt what i want) and generate the audio myself using smth like hypertts
I'd do that in a spreadsheet instead.
- Use a dummy profile to import the APKG and export it as plain text.
- In your own profile, add a field to your note type to hold this new info. Then export your deck as plain text.
- Open up both spreadsheets to make sure they match note-by-note/row-by-row, and then copy the audio column from the new deck into the correct column of your existing deck.
- Copy the media from the dummy profile to your own profile -- https://docs.ankiweb.net/importing/text-files.html#importing-media .
- Re-import your deck to populate that field.
- Run Check Media -- https://docs.ankiweb.net/media.html#manually-adding-media .
sounds like quite a bit of work
and even then there's no guarantee that the notes line up 100%
also, i just realized that recently i asked a very similar question lol.
both decks are the same thing
If that's not correct, then it's a different situation.
i mean, both are labeled Xefjord's Complete Vietnamese
but the traditional deck is 1.0 (and is now unmantained) whereas the southern one is 2.0
The version numbers and deck names don't really matter. If they each have 209 notes, with the same first field [or note ID] and note type -- and they match except for the changes to the note type/additional fields (which is what your original post-import report indicated) -- I don't see how they could be different.
how can i tell if the note type is the same? i think i've ever since renamed the note type to something i could more easily look at
Isn't Anki is telling you that the note type is the same? If it wasn't, they wouldn't be spotted as matching notes on import.
Otherwise, you should just look at the notes and compare them.
haven't gotten around to doing what you just told me to, btw -- will probably only get around to it next weekend
