Hello everyone, I have been using anki for sometime but not using it properly (only using custom study sessions) near tests but want to start using it properly. I have my main exams in a couple months but want to get all the content down in a month but anki wont let me save my desired settings, like after I press save it just reverts back to what it was before. I want to change the compute minimum recommended retantion -> days to stimulate to 17 and the fsrs stimulator days to stimulate the same 17 days aswell but it wont let me do this also I cannot enable reschedule cards on change PLEASE HELP 🙏 (I have tried running it as admin and unistalling, etc)
#fsrs settings not saving

Those aren't really "FSRS settings" -- those are just the variables that you can put in to run that simulation. They aren't saved anywhere.
I want to change the compute minimum recommended retantion -> days to stimulate to 17
But why though? If you have an big exam coming up, you can set that to your exam timeline, but otherwise leaving it at 365d is best.
also I cannot enable reschedule cards on change
That one is a single-use setting -- it goes back to off after you save by design. You wouldn't want it on all the time anyway, as the warning on the screen tells you, it should only be used sparingly. [I'd say that never is about the right amount to use it, because you can do the same thing with the FSRS Helper add-on without any of the downsides. But that's just me!]
but i cannot change it anything but 365d for the days to stimulate
Both are intentional. Though the fact that the simulator doesn't save its settings is pretty annoying, I agree
You can't change or you can't save changes?
Those are different
You can change 365 to other values, it's just that they won't be permanently saved
i cant save the changes i think, like even if i change to 17 and then press save and then go out of the settings menu and go back in then it goes back to 365
Yes, both that and "Reschedule cards on change" not saving is intentional. I can understand the latter, but not the former. I think the simulator settings should save

If i am trying to review content within like 1-3 months what would you lot recommend fsrs, or anki sm2
I don’t know about the logic of setting saving before. I will take a look.
FSRS. You don't need to do anything special for a different timeline. Just study your cards.
Saving simulator setting requires to add more fields to the deck config:
