It's the same case as Egypt. Technically Egypt does have land in Asia but it's not of any importance to it and hence Egypt is considered as an African nation.
On the other hand, Turkey's European side is actually productive because it is not a literal desert (Sinai moment) but ethnically, culturally and mainly landwise as well, Turkey is an Asian nation.
