• Purple is some decals I think, to make it look like sidewalks or concrete. And parks probably.
• Green is tree decorations.
  Notice there are not a lot of individual buildings, they are spaced out so you can put decorations and things in-between.

It takes some time, and the first map doesn't have much room to do this. But get creative! See what you can make (:
