Highway around map borders, and 2 highways intersecting in the middle, for residential just make like a neighborhood and build industries far from residential area. Some parking lots if you are american and add extra 20 lanes to the highway

If I have housing on their own roads I don't run into much traffic issues tbh, but my biggest city isn't very big yet. When I put housing on streets directly I always have terrible traffic issues. But by making streets in between, it works fine

in my newest city i didn't follow my own advise and the traffic situation was bad almost immediatly, gotta work on fixing that

with auto-zones progression just feels off at times. for example, the left side has more population than the right side and the game might force you into upgrading buildings into these 1x1 shorter towers as they represent higher population density overall. it feels like you don't really progress and in the end it does not look nice because you have a lot of duplicated buildings, but duplicated in ways that don't really look appealing. that's why i dislike auto-zones and moved away from them. also, manual building is a lot more fun anyway.
