I know... I know... but imagine the possibilities. It means that guardamant and/or gubborn is no longer required for nearly as many guard techniques and it means that you can do stuff like escape bloodbends much more easily, which isn't something you can really do otherwise. Also, it makes no sense for a shield to damage you if you use it to hit something that doesn't break and doesn't move. What is this, blood magic? I just feel like it makes sense to integrate this into the game both lorewise and mechanics wise.
#Make force-guarding a structure you can bump on (or that's moving away from you) not do damage

im confused
currently if you force guard a grounded wall it deals 5 damage, no? that makes no sense to me
should deal none even if it is put in hitstop, kinda like a ricochet but for guard
shoudnt it deal 3?
its 3 base value + 1 (grounded) - 1 (guard reduction)
4 sorry. no not 3 cuz its 4 base + 1 grounded - 1 guard
what if guard -2 for self hits
i wouldn't do 2dmg even for a cool phase
i just think this makes the most sense
like you shouldn't take damage from bumping a non-moving object with a shield
also i disagree with myself even tho its been only a minute because this complicates things
my only thing is would you still get a adamant/surge proc
from it
you can already adamant proc for 0 using stub, why not guard too
surge is more of a problem though yeah
maybe just say it doesn't work on 0dmg hits?
so you wouldnt be able to adamant/surge on force guards?
-# im so confuseddd :(
wait
isn't this already a problem though?
cuz you can force guard on discs
wdym by problem im so confused 😭
im you can already force proc adamant/surge
you can
ig it's a much reduced effect
with this you would be able to get a full 4 dmg duration surge/adamant proc is why i was asking
if it did no dmg
-# i think??!?!?
which should be 8 seconds according to the wiki
for free
basically
honestly it sounds kinda funny
it does actually
PUT IT IN THE GAME NOW!!!!
LMAO
yeah but that would stop you from doing a force guard cube with adamant which is smth u can already do in the game
i need someone thats more experienced with guard to give their opinion on this
im not smart enough
just do cSu.ug
is that supposed to be a lowercase g?
like hooking the cube and guarding it?
yeah
GUARD TECH IS SO CONFUSING :(((
or even simpler cDg
but then its moving so it gets a +1 no
see above
thats a force guard no?
no cuz you're moving toward it so it doesn't get reduced
force guard is standing in front of something and waving your hands at it to guard it
im aware
also itd have to be cPPDg
(the first parry to unground then the second parry to unparry since parry gives +1 now)
you could cPUuuDg and it would be slightly faster I think
and still not be going fast enough to proc the +1 movement penalty
or cPH!Dg !move it towards you
i like this idea more
just give them free infinite surge or adamant
what could go wrong
🙂
