This scanner won't work. You have to go to settings -> profiles -> add profile -> import
We can improve the ux for this.

first of all pasting the UP address wouldnt is not valid. it requires a Wallet connect url something like wc:a525cfdd786aa836d0eb7f52ecd50c616f4c0334e11c85275e6f5bbf138bd04b@2?expiryTimestamp=1731661954&relay-protocol=irn&symKey=cf471e16a16ba7a23c903029a0653e61b703b4932afd640c3f8fde1457db4afe
so I am not sure where you got to this scanner.. if you are using this qr code on top of your profile
this is for connecting your UP with a Dapp
so you need to try to login per example in https://universaleverything.io/ and choose mobile application and click on the qr code or scan using the camera
if you want to import your existing profile into your mobile app than you need to click on the settings "cog" -> profiles -> add profile -> import
to import is a different qr code that you would get from the UP extension on your profile

I am trying to scan my profile QR code but it won’t let me scan it somehow. Maybe my camera is too bad? Or the screen I am scanning it from, but it just won’t let me scan the QR code…
Those are the right screens in the mobile app and the app extension.

The scanner in the UP app just won’t recognize the QR code. I already deinstalled the app and asked Prazen to give me a second code, but my phone is still not scanning the profile QR code of my Browser extension

Okay interesting, so you're on the scanner screen. You point to the QR code. Then the scanner screen doesn't respond? It just keeps scanning? No error messages?
Yes the scanner screen does not respond. It is somehow not recognizing the QR code. I also tried with other UPs that I have but none of them work. I seem to be the only one having this problem. The Mac that I use is from 2016 so maybe the screen is too old?
Hmm your mac shouldn't be a problem. If it's generating the qr code and showing it it should work.
Does your phone recognize other qr codes in general?

While we're investigating why the scan doesn't work for you, I suggest you use the paste function so you can import your Universal Profiles from the browser extension (and that way you can use mobile app 😅)
To do this:
- in browser extension, copy the QR code content
- then in mobile app, paste the QR code content into the paste feature -> QR code content should start with wc:
- and then you can continue the import process
I'm also interesting in knowing if using the scan from home view (this one #1306622239046631434 message) works for you when you want to connect to a dapp. If you don't have any profiles on Mainnet, you can try with a profile on Testnet and connect to universaleverything.io

And on the scanning issue my phone scans just fine outside of UP.

Yeah so I tried to scan but it just does nothing. I'm using my UP extension QR code. I also tried to copy and paste address but it says 'address undefined' .
I also stuck on Preparing profie update trnsaciton, also approved a permission request for a controller on extension, but still nothing
I am unable to use the scanner as well on chrome and Brave browser. I can get the QR code content only on Chrome however when I press continue all text is deleted and nothing happens

Ok the issue is not a scanning problem but a problem with the link scanned that doesn’t work properly inside the app. Let me explain.
When you click to get the qrcode, the browser extension generate a new qrcode that is timestamped, meaning that it expire and you have a certain amount of time (300 sec) to scan the qrcode. When you scan the qrcode before it expires nothing happens. But when you scan the qrcode after it expire, you have an error that says « failed to connect to wallet, the qrcode contains incorrect data, please try again ».
So it is not a non-scanning issue. Please escalate.

To go further, here is what I got when I create a new profile
It blinks and I can’t touch any of the buttons.
Ok guys, I found the solution for my issue, maybe it can help others (on iPhone only) :
- Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset > Reset All Settings (and confirm)
Nothing should be deleted in this action, but things could go wrong so please save your passwords, seeds and important data of your phone before doing anything.
-> The non-scanning issue has gone
-> The blink screen issue has gone
If you have to reinstall the UP! app, please ask a new code to Prazen first, or you will not able to use it after reinstall.

when you don't know what is causing an issue on your phone and not in others ones, it is a normal way to reset settings (NOT erasing all contents and settings).
Please read carefully my answer : save datas and passwords before doing anything that may cause irreversible loss.

By the way, @earnest notch , for the "blink screen issue", I found the real solution : Reduce Motion in Accessibility settings was turned ON.
So for those who have blink screen issue, simply go to Settings>Accessibility>Motion>Reduce Motion (and then turn it OFF)

Which QR code are you scanning? You will scan the one inside the extension, not the one in universaleverything.io
