To start off, he generally plays 3 CBs at the back. Just from a number point of view, that needs us to have 6 CBs. We have only 5 CBs, of which Ramos is expected to leave, while Varane may also leave. Even if Ramos stays, he has previously made clear his displeasure at seeing Conte as a Real Madrid Manager. So, we will need between one and three CBs to add to the squad. He prefers workman-like midfielders, of which, we have only Fede Valverde. Now even if Kroos Case and Fede is our first choice midfield, that can adapt to play how Conte wants, I cant see the likes of Odergard, Blanco, Modric fitting his system. Lastly, he prefers a physical, back against the goal, hold the ball up kind of striker. This is not Benzema. So, for his system to work well, there needs to be quite a few signings to be made, both for the first XI and the bench. Clearly, we do not have the financial capability of pulling what he needs to succeed. Based on Conte's career, he tends to clash with management who are unable to meet his demands. This will lead to a negative environment around the club. Also, there is nothing to indicate that he can change.
Hence, it’s better to try and get someone who is a better fit for the players we have and the players we are targeting in the transfer market. Unfortunately, there isn’t a clear-cut manager who fits that mold. Most of the managers that we are linked to have a glaring problem or two. The one that is the closest fit to our squad and the needs of the current financial climate is probably Mauricio Pochettino. He would be on top of my list.
