I believe it was 3 minimum, unless the prolonged 30-40 minute sickness indicated two CMs since the light didn't go away. But 4 definitely worked.

i looked over the save files i've got on my pc and i have no idea where the care misses must be stored on this version

considering how long it took my chamametchi to grow the second time, i think the music star saves the age when they go to sleep, rather than when they wake up
i'm going to run a second device to be able to test more
i think i'm going to test whether care misses are saved or not myself this first gen, i'm giving my new toddler a lot of care misses
not counting the exact amount this time, i'm just completely ignoring her for the rest of the day
then tomorrow morning, i'll make her sleep again, then wake her up and reset
if she becomes ringotchi, care misses were saved → i got mimitchi on the other device because games undid the care mistakes She got
if she becomes chamametchi (and took less than 24 hours from the time she was reset to grow), care mistakes were not saved
if she becomes ichigotchi, i'll be very confused and wish i payed closer attention

ok, gave her a hellish day, around 4-5 hours of completely ignoring her
she started the toddler stage with all her stats empty
toddlers' stats normally take less than an hour to deplete, so she must have gotten at least 4cm from both hungry and happy, over 8 total
i also ignored the sickness call and the sleep call
i will reset her tomorrow
she's set to evolve at 2pm (WEST), but the resetting will probably make it take a bit longer

Even the save isn't straightforward on the Music Star, this device really feels like it has to be as extra as possible with everything

it's been 6 hours and nothing yet
the other one took Less than that for sure
if it takes a whole day and i get chamametchi it wouldn't really confirm anything, since it could just mean the last full save was made before the care mistakes were even made

but maybe it saved the care misses and not the age for some reason and she becomes ringotchi anyways lmao
the V4(.5) did save any changes made to the skills immediately, even if care misses and age would only update when they woke up
speaking of which, i figured out the conditions to get each universal adult on the V4 are different from what i originally posted on my growth guide, maybe i should update the wiki so it's correct

turns out the care miss threshold is exactly the same as with the teens
if the category with the higher amount of care misses has less than 3, you get pyonchi / pyonko
if it's 3, hanatchi / debatchi
if it's 4+, gozarutchi / masktchi

also i was thinking we could make up a new term for the "higher amount of care misses" to make the character lists for the V4(.5) and the tamago cleaner
so instead of "4+ cm in either category" or "less than 3 cm in both categories" it could just be something like "hCM >= 4" or "hCM < 3"

That'd be nice to consolidate, but I think for the character lists it's easier to comprehend when it's fully typed out. If we made a separate growth chart for them that'd be okay tho

she became chamametchi 24 hours after the reset… she did remember the time i set her to right before the reset and the fact she was enrolled in preschool tho
she just forgot her age and all the neglect she got

might Not properly prove that chama + 2CM = D tier
because i may or may not have missed a sleeping call
last night i changed the time back after she went to bed so she'd wake up later, to avoid any risk of her getting more CMs while i slept
i changed it to 8pm (left the minutes the same) because i thought that's when she went to bed
but a couple hours later i changed it back to 8 again, and noticed she woke up
because she actually goes to bed at 8:30
and i don't remember what time i set her to the first time exactly and i did not make sure she stayed asleep

so it's possible, that first time she woke up and then went to bed w/o me being there to turn her lights off
but i'm not certain
we might need to test 2CM on chamametchi again to make sure

My Masktchi married a Kuromametchi and left their son but I haven’t named him yet, the past few days have been pretty hectic so I haven’t had a moment to focus on it yet. >_<

since 0CM should give the best character possible from that teen and i got Masktchi from the best teen with 3CM, it'd be especially good to test 1 and 2 CM with each teen
though cam did get tier C from nonopotchi with perfect care, so there might be more to it?? but we can figure out the details later on

cam already tested 3CM on kuchitamatchi iirc, so i expect to get ringotchi from tamatchi

3-4 gave me Nonopotchi, though the 3 was sus cause I did an extended sick call that never went away so it could have overlapped and done it twice since 30-40 minutes passed

I don't think it would do that, but it was strange the light never went away. I swear I've seen it disappear on earlier Connections from the sick call

Nonetheless it was definitely more than 2, those 2 being the hunger care misses so the sick cms must have counted at least 1

The other was just 4 straight up, no sick ones.

i doubt an extended sickness call would count for more than one though
i remember while testing the V2 with a care miss counter on it'd get the care miss after 15 mins even if the light stayed on, but it would only get that one care miss

so you'd think the keitai toddlers are on the same tier and the P1 teen toddlers (?) are on the other (if there Are two separate groups like in the tamago)

if not
i can give my kuchitamatchi 2 hungry CM (the 2 he got already were from happy)
if i get hinotamatchi they are separate, and if i get nonopotchi they are not

i think it'd be better to figure this out before testing if games undo care misses
because if they are split each game probably affects only one category, but if they are not, all games might work the same

Another thing is the Tama-Go technically has physical and mental, but it totals them when factoring care. But the two games still reverse only one type of care miss (Long Jumper for physical, Shoot the Bug for mental)

but the entama, uratama and odentchi all add them up together
or only have one single variable for CM that counts misses for hungry happy and sickness calls

sheena ringotchi got 3 care misses from an empty happy meter (got sick, but i healed her right away)
félix the hinotamatchi got 2 care misses from an empty happy meter, and one from the hungry one, and i also let him stay sick for over 15 minutes after that last one

I have a question. It's been a looong time since I've ran a music star. Do you basically need 999 of all 3 skill points to be successful? I remember that being the case but last time I ran it was before I had internet so I was on my own.

  • door bell (looks and sounds the same as a care call, but the door lights up instead)
  • bath call

then there's the training cues, but those don't make proper call, and no icon lights up
and they don't always make a sound

Yeah but those don't really count as "calls", I explained it to Gumbah before but when it makes a noise when practicing, it's just increasing stat points.

I think we're close to cracking things just based on teens and CMs, I dunno if there is any other crazy feature we're missing, but I do think bath calls could potentially count. I would be on the lookout for those, I'll do the same myself.

one thing i noticed about sleep calls is that sometimes they beep and turn the lights off on their own??
yesterday, when it was time for them to sleep, i heard them beep and when i looked their lights were already off
they should be mental care, as they were in all the previous versions that needed you to turn the lights off
but it would be better to test just in case
we should also try testing the door and bath calls just in case (specially the bath ones)
it seems training (practice & play) and stress don't really have an effect on growth, just on performance once they're adults

since 3 is the amount you need to get E tier from the good teen, i have the feeling no character requires more than that, but it's still better to make sure

Gah, I stepped away from them so this time it won't be so controlled. They each got one Hunger miss, then Kuribotchi got sick and has been all the way up to this next call an hour later, so I'm hoping that was just one extra physical CM. Light was still on after that whole time though :(

on the V1-V3, naughty adults bathed (good physical care) but adults obtained from physical neglect (frail, stubborn) will not
so bathing was always sort of a good physical care thing

this also seems to suggest that, oddly, you are more likely to get better adults from the OK tier teen than the good one
and the bad teen is the only one that can't become the worst adult tier

Okay...so here's some more bullhoogie to throw in the mix:

I got Nonopotchi with Kuribotchi at what I assumed was 3 CMs (2 hunger, 1(?) sick), but then Ringotchi from Hitodetchi with 2 CMs (2 hunger, did not let it stay sick or get any more care misses)

If 2 CMs is correct for worst care teen from the Keitai toddlers, I could have easily reversed a care miss for Kuribotchi if either Music Notes or Sound Block reverses physical (but not both; since I played each one once, it wouldn't make sense to have both be physical or it would have been 1 CM which would basically make it impossible to get middle care with the Keitai toddlers)

Consider this run a mess, I messed up with a lot of things (the bath call interrupting the hunger call, leaving the sick call for basically a whole hour, possibly reversing some with games)

But nonetheless, I think I'm going to definitively take perfect care of both of these fellas to see if I get either Shimashimatchi or Kuchipatchi, and either Memetchi or Violetchi

Unless the growth requirement structure is the same from both kinds of toddler and they just swapped the "OK" and "Bad" teens around

it might be a good idea to record sleeping times and bathing times too
i think my toddlers took a bath at 5pm the last generation, and the teens might have done it at 7:30?? iirc
i don't remember when the toddlers went to sleep, but i think the teens slept at these times:

  • Good: 8:30pm - 7:00am
  • OK: 8:45pm - 7:30am
  • Bad: 9:00pm - 7:45am
    though, i'm looking at a tamazone thread on this topic and the times people are giving are all over the place… various people reporting different times for the same character and such

there are less of them, but it takes way longer to get one, and we'd have to keep track of the care the adults get during that whole stage
unless it is just a matter of odd vs. even gen, but it does not seem like it??

Both were bad care teens, both received perfect care from me with plenty of games to boot.

But seeing as the same thing happened to me with Dorotchi, I think C tier should be moved to B tier for the boys

At least regarding this growth chart. Oddly enough, I found these two Tama-Go growth charts with similar mistakes, now that we had it datamined and know what's fact.

i looked more closely this time and it seems it actually lasted 2m and 45s, (or 165 seconds)
as expected onputchi did not call because she already bathed

but the theory i've been working with based on previous records is that teens Cannot grow into every tier
good teens → A, B, D, E
ok teens → A, C, E
bad teens → B, C, D
each tier can be obtained from 2 of the teens, but not all three of them

so if i'm right, me getting kuchipatchi from hinotamatchi means he's C tier

#

plus cam said he did not go to bed at the same time as his memetchi, but he did go to bed at the same time as my onputchi

i'm planning to add another chart to my sheet that has all sleeping and bathing times
i may also add sheets for all known growth records
one without known care conditions, one with them (mostly the ones here)

i've got a tamatchi and a kuchitamatchi on my music stars
my tamatchi got 3 physical misses and 2 mental ones, the kuchitamatchi got a single mental miss
i plan to win a lot of games with tamatchi to see if that undoes the mistakes
i already played all the games a lot to test how many skill points you get from each score in each game, i think i got all the info except the weight your tama loses
it's all on the sheet i shared earlier

i just can't think of it being anything other than random chance

If, and this is a hard if, I got a missed bath call right before my Nonopotchi evolved into an adult, it could have counted as two care misses since you said it calls twice for some reason. But (and this is me being very honest and vulnerable here xD) I did not hear it go off when I was in the bathroom, so that's why it's a hard "if" but not a completely rock solid one...it could have very well been my fault.

I'm just confused why the Ringotchi didn't suffer the same fate and became Memetchi, I didn't start them as babies too far off from each other so they should have evolved pretty much at the same time

my blue music star showed the low battery screen yesterday when trying to pass the pro debut thing (with the sound off)
i hit reset and it will still work as long as i don't let it do any music performances
but it seems like she lost her "days in the adult stage", so the matchmaker won't come for her
might try to let her grow old, to see who she turns into
but i planned to stop when both of them ran out of battery, so it seems like these will be the last few generations for now

so that does not undo mental misses
i doubt it'd undo physical ones (will try to check anyway) since that would mean 3 games undo physical misses and only one undoes mental ones
so it might just be the 3 music games that undo care misses at all

Hi! has anyone had any memory issues with their v6? I posted a few days ago about friends saving as 00000000 with an image of an egg and friendship not going up while on the other device did, and now I've just learned that each time I take out the batteries, it completely resets without option to download the save

This is pretty weird, since it's a second hand device and it came with a saved run and I could download it...

I’m guessing the friend count remains in memory but the friends list is loaded from the EEPROM every time it’s accessed so that’s why all friends appear to have all zero data

Not sure if this has happened to anyone else and it's already here, but I'd like to add to the bug list
I intentionally placed an almost empty battery on my ROM error V6 (yup, it's shell swapped from last time) to see what would happen
• time shows... weird, hearts and random pixels instead of numbers that change every time you make an input (1st video)
• couldn't record this in full but, egg hatches, asks for attention, with a flashing piano, I go and try to feed him -> crashes -> nazotchi shows up -> game crashes again -> egg is reborn (2nd video)

i'm not sure if this counts towards research but on my music star that had some progress on it, after the battery died and i changed it, i remember that the screen was glitching out a bit (can't remember exactly what but it was enough to make me concerned) and when i tried to remove the battery and put it back in, i ended up with a screen where the tamagotchi left me (despite it being perfectly healthy and not dying before the battery low screen), then it kinda forced me to reset my music star...i haven't run it since then because i was disappointed that i lost my data

The full evo paths went:

female -> hitodetchi -> chamametchi -> memetchi -> dango obatchi

I decided to marry my olds together today in hope of getting the mega drum, but neither one ended up receiving it from the music teacher despite both having max skill points & 1st place star ranking.

From what I've seen online, these should be the only 2 requirements to get it, and it should be the marriage gift given by the teacher, so I was curious if there's more up-to-date info on the requirements for the mega drum (since basically all music star discussion online is like 15 years old) or if this a new can of worms we gotta unpack with this tam

For now, I'm going to assume that you also need to marry before your tamas become seniors, so I'll try doing that next time I get the chance and see if that works

finally got an update on this: i finally got another boy/girl pair to marry and go for the mega drum, and i got it this time…on only one device

just like before, i got both to max stats and 1st place rankings. i waited until the 5pm concert to confirm their rank placing, and grinded connections right after. everything was fine, until the 6 pm concert happened, and then kuchipatchi got a 1st place award, meaning that he must have changed genres while i was doing connections (dickhead —>KuchiSmug ).

so with that, i think im gonna redo the olds marriage at some point and see if maybe the issue was that they pulled this shit last time, and them being seniors wasn’t actually the problem

i guess it’s also kinda funny that the drums are actually a reward for your connection partner’s hard work

I think where we left off was determining what exactly counted as a proper care miss, whether it was physical or mental, and especially if bath calls counted since that was the #1 outlier for whether we remembered missing a call and getting odd results because of it x3

Well, those still exist given the results Ale found with each teen, and certain "tiers" are definitely teen specific

But iirc we don't know exactly which game reverses which (if they do) and whether stuff like bath calls or sleep calls count as one or the other since they have weird behavior with the way they alert the user

And again that's if they count towards care misses at all

yeah that means your tamagotchi is now enrolled and you can send them to preschool to play a minigame
when they need a bath, the attention icon will light up and they'll go take a bath as soon as you press any button

Usually praising them during it will negate the stress increase

But wait until all the little bleeps are done playing, each time one of those happens one of the three stats increases by a little bit (like 1-3, I can't remember)

Also sometimes you can catch them sulking while playing; the sounds still play, but I'm not sure if the stat increase is affected or if the stress increase is just higher. I usually just praise them to rectify it, even if it nulls the practice session x3

I find most of my Tamas will just start doing it more and more as they're teens and adults, but I'm usually attentive with praising it once the sounds stop

You can probably skip doing this since it’s a bit tricky and can risk resetting your device’s data, we should be able to figure it out from the date code anyway

But for future reference it’s (I believe) A+B+C+Reset and then you press A,B,C and probably A again to get to the version screen
It’s difficult to get all of the buttons pressed though (especially on a music star) and going beyond the version screen entirely resets the save data

So basically:

  • Everything is obtainable via passwords
  • Most items and foods are available in the shop
  • Tickets are password-only and were never distributed
  • Dream Mic and Destiny Stars are password-only and were distributed through TamaTown
  • Instruments and Toys are generally only obtainable during the usual growth stages where you're awarded them (and I think occasionally given to you by the king?), but also through using the Tama-Battery
  • Wild Guitar is available in the shop despite being an instrument and can only otherwise be obtained via passwords (there seems to be both an item version and an instrument version of this, probably for technical reasons related to why it appears in the shop)
  • Mega Drum is only obtainable as a reward for a successful marriage (or passwords technically)
  • Tama-Battery is awarded randomly by the king

Most items are just animation items like usual, and even the special instruments don’t seem to do anything special sadly

#

The main ones with notable effects are:

  • Tickets - iirc, makes a concert happen
  • Tama-Battery - gives you a toy or instrument
  • Shops - there’s a few of these and they have a chance of giving some money every time you use them, they’re also non-consumable
  • Destiny Stars - use as an adult to get the secret characters
  • Spot / Mocha Costume - typical costume items
  • CDs - when used in a Stereo, influences your character’s favourite genre of music

i also found out that there's a chance you'll lose money when using the shop items, but so far i've only seen a loss of a few hundred points so it's not that big of a deal since you tend to make thousands when you get money from it
