With the Tama Search feature coming, now I wonder why they refuse to add C animations/close-ups? Surely they can import some from the Smart and it's possible to add new features and tie them to a button

I mean even with Tama Search taking up the C button, they can easily make it so that it needs to be pressed for a few seconds to activate while a short press activates an animation/close-up

Oh absolutely! I'm excited for Tama Search (even if I don't go out much lmao). I kinda why we had both because I never had close-ups before and it was one of the reasons why I hesitated with getting a Smart. Like the petting and close-ups were really good arguments but the moment I learned that Tamas did the "wabababa" sound from the DS games I was sold, I NEEDED them to talk to me, it's so adorable

That's what I was thinking... With each DLC, it's getting harder to make something like this. Too much work at once... Or they simply add characters with sprites good enough for the Uni that also have close-ups until they're done implementing it

That way they can add both before making more DLCs!

ok so you press c but instead of starting a tama search the tama comes and then just idle so you can do stuff like smacking the uni on a surface or shaking it so it reacts and stuff. and then it has talk, pet and mood.

'Talk' has it ask or tell you something because there is no microphone like a glorified version of the thing it does at 4pm. I also considered sentence building but that was inconvenient.

For petting I considered 2 versions, either you use a gimble-controlled cursor hand and hold B to touch the Tama, and you tilt the uni to stroke it.
Or you hold the uni like a mouse and just 'pet' the air to simulate petting the character as if it was really there.
Mood just does exactly what it does on the smart.
Anyway this will probably never get implemented because of the memory.

In my very brief using of the feature it does seem to go by the name of the network. I have a mesh network at my house which basically means I’ve got three different routers broadcasting the same WiFi name

Ok this is probably nothing of note but I noticed Makiko’s sprite is slightly different than it is on the Smart— her curls are shorter and her mouth is way more purple (very hard to see in these photos, I wish the Tama Search characters would show up on your Social Media posts!)

The reason they didn't for this one is probably because the window doesn't line up with the outside backgrounds. It looks like you're floating in the sky.
They would have to program it to move the outside background up a bit to match where the window is.

While I like my blue Uni the screen cover is a bit wobbly and I've never tried to remove it to change the faceplate. Not sure if there's a way to tighten it?

public-private key cryptography is what secures most of the internet... In the case of the Uni, it allows it to do two things:

  1. The uni will only talk to a server that is owned and operated by bandai, the crypto keeps us from pretending to be bandai
  2. All communications between that server and the uni are hidden, and we can't know what they are. The crypto also keeps us from figuring out what is being sent
  3. No one can change what is being sent between the Uni and the server, without the receiver knowing. (because you would need to be able to decrypt and encrypt the information to do so)

This is a very good thing, to be honest... It is the same technology used to secure the most communication on the internet, including what your browser uses when talking to your bank. You wouldn't want to talk to someone who isn't your bank as if they were, and you wouldn't want anything you and your bank talking about being public either.

#

This guarantees* the 3 basic security requirements... Authentication (I am who I say I am, you are who you say you are), Confidentiality (what we say is only between us, no one else can hear), and integrity (our messages cannot be changed by anyone, what I send is what you get)

*at least until modern encryption is broken, if it hasn't already been broken by the CIA/NSA/Tal Shiar/Section 31 (if you are into conspiracy theories)

From a technical perspective, the results would be available immediately. So it’s like it’s a deliberate design decision to get players to wait and come back later for suspense? I think people figured out that the button sequence was hardcoded for each day, so once somebody had written out the sequence and/or somebody had multiple devices to test with they could end up getting crazy high scores like that

I mentioned before that arena and gift DLC can now be traded between Unis. I was half right. You can trade the free gift items but not arena prizes.
It will help with storage space once servers eventually go down but won't be as useful as previously thought.

Me too! It's been so long, we've had 6 DLCs pretty much in a row, why would they stop now? Now is the time to continue putting them out before the next gen is ready. I also think it would make the wait between new shells for the RV3 less long and give them something to keep marketing. I get you but it'd be really sad if this were it. The roster would be so small and incomplete without some iconic characters (I get not adding Makiko but Violetchi??? Violetchi even has a variant in a DLC and not her base character)

yeah I doubt pushing the button rhythmically is the answer, it’s more likely the same button mashing that you do at the beginning to boost yourself from the starting line

Doing it rhythmically doesn't do anything. The problem is as the event goes on people get better and better scores and it forces you to outdo theirs. It's also a little random depending on who you are up against. Each play is 3 vs 3 but they only select two of the three for you to go up against. You may get someone with a lower score or someone with a score that's beyond your skill level to defeat

If only they put all the Uni's items within Tamagotchi Plaza so that when they end support with the Uni, you could at least buy and send every seasonal item they ever created to the Uni via Plaza but still limit them to the months they were released in.

Maybe even have the events be pushed with Plaza as well. The Uni is capable of making essentially a "server instance" so that your phone can download your tama's profile, the Switch is capable of doing the same when you send pictures to your phone, what's stopping them from utilizing the Switch's instance to sent out items to the Uni?

You have to collect the older ones to get them out of the way. There’s a limit on how many can be in the inbox at once and they come in in the order they were released
