When its off just make sure to store it properly where the button won't get pushed.

You hold B and push reset. Keep holding B till the rom screen comes up. Then just do nothing till it shuts off

On the Pix you quickly press a-b-c in sequence during startup before continue/reset appears to bring up a hardware test menu. Essentially a swipe but I found quickly individually pressing the touch buttons to be more reliable
