Keitai info/appreciation thread!

Hey guys! I just wanted to make a thread to appreciate/share findings about the Keitai! This Tamagotchi is almost 20 years old so ofc there isn’t much more to know, but I wanted to make a space to share anything obscure that the general guides might have missed. Feel free to share info, pics if you are running a Keitai (or Akai), or organize hatches here.

General thoughts:

In this current market, it’s becoming harder and harder to find English connections at a decent price. The Keitai is a very pure connection experience that seems to get overlooked because of the language barrier. The Keitai, imo, is a great stepping stone for someone who has played the nanos or originals and is wanting to try out a connection-era Tamagotchi. It has a point system, items, marriage, etc. It grows up faster than the original (I think) but not as fast as the nano. The price point is cheap enough at this point to buy multiple and use connection functionality (avoids the dreaded English tax lol). If you can’t read Japanese, the language barrier is nearly non-existent after playing a couple of gens, and translated guides are available. I would advise taking a screenshot of the translation and keeping it on your phone. The Akai is great too and a little bit cuter in theme, but the red pixels are so hard to see. I think the Entama and Uratama are the best overall connection experience, but if you are looking for a care-based connection, the Keitai and Akai are the way to go.

My favorite things:
-Drinking SAKE
-Food items are permanent after purchase
-Very laid back overall experience for a care based Tamagotchi
-Smaller roster of characters so it's easy to raise them all if you want
-The “c” button animations vary and don’t only show a close up
-Three secret characters available
-Character gets money when it evolves- I don’t think American versions do this?
-In general has more personality than the English connections imo

Tips and tricks:
1. The Tamasuku (Tamagotchi School) works for transferring GP to the keitai - great option if you hate grinding the games, but love money. Home deka, king of games, and kakeibo should work as well. (Choose dekatama option when connecting to any of these devices)

 2.Spam the racing game if you want to lose weight. That’s pretty much all this game is good for. You will always lose 3 lbs per game, even if you lose. 

 3. ALWAYS choose the 1st option in the racing game. You can only win the grand prize (30gp) if you select the 1st option and your tama wins first place. Selecting anything else will give 0gp.

 4. If an item in your inventory has a heart icon next to it, that means it is a connection item. If two characters play with that item and then make a connection, they will play a game together with that item!

 5. The best way to get GP in game is to play the catch game, but only catch 20 music notes. Catching 20 notes will result in 50gp, and the maximum amount of gp yielded from that game is 100gp after catching 100 music notes.

Things I want to know:

It seems like the functionality of some items is still unknown (i.e. the star item? The sunshine jar?)

Does the keitai send fake gifts when connecting and you have to discipline? Similar to the V2?

Does “overfeeding” count as a care mistake? Similar to Digimon? Your tama will shake it’s head after overfeeding by two meals, but idk if this is considered a CM.

Ringotchi gifted Memetchi a wig. I looked down after a connection and she's dancing like this for a few minutes lol I definitely didn't buy a wig, so it's interesting how the keitai can make gifts appear from nowhere.

Female Mametchi bed.

It wouldn't surprise me if the beds change on the JP models. The tub can too depending on character. The bed also changes on the on depending on if your tama is female or male.

So it's still possible that the bed isn't based on gender 😂

I'll be raising oyajitchi on both soon, so I'll be able to confirm if it's gender based then

I forgot they will take a nap with the doll lol I wonder if stats continue to drop or if they are actually sleeping 🤔

Nvm, they only nap for 5 mins lol so the stats probably won't drop in that amount of time anyway

Pro tip for those who want the keitai to be easier than it is: the lobster will fill up 3 hunger hearts, and the melon will fill up 3 happy hearts. The lobster only causes 1 lb of weight gain and the melon causes 2 lbs

I started some Keitais up today! I've had both of these shells for a while (over a year) but have never run either of them

The pink is a girl and the corocoro is a boy, so I'm planning on getting oldies and marrying them

yes iirc it is the same for akai. akai is pretty much identical programming to the keitai but with different items and characters

Yep, Keitais and Akais can fully interact when connecting apart from not being able to marry

They can use connection items and gift each other items

I think I've realized that my favorite gen is Kektai/Akai. Decided to keep just my Akai, but sell off my colors and Ura/Entamas.

Since I was given the clear to post it here, I started up the Hanerutchi 1 today

I was initially gonna run two as a pair but my green one has a messed up screen, I couldn't get it to work and I don't currently have a donor so I'm just running the one red one

The Hanerutchi 1 is essentially a reskinned Keitai, the games and babies/toddlers are the same
