#Change the event tiers to zone targets

I find myself avoiding picking champions that have variants that require the champion itself for more than one variant, because that means it becomes a chore to do it, especially with the flex slots unlocking after 1 then 2 weeks... like right now, I would've gone for nixie but I'm going with an older champion that doesn't require the champion so I can do all 3 variants in 3 parties.

Also, the game has a lot of other stuff to do besides this... patron variants for example, which the game seems to go to lengths in preventing me by asking to do other stuff like events or freeplays for patrons (why can't patrons get coins from zones completed in variants, why does it have to be freeplays? 😦 )

Please change event tiers to be based on the zone you reach, so you can finish tier4 of a variant instantly.
Tier rewards would be received based on all 3 variants tiers just like now, but the way the tiers are reached is determined by zone goals. Having a variant be t4 and others t2 would only give t2 rewards, it's simple and a GUI to show that with 3 bars with points on them and the rewards top/below those would make it very clear, kind of like a metro map with 3 parallel lines.

Now with corrupted gems as rewards I feel that I have to do them or I'll miss out on that currency 😩 these are such a chore, please remove the tiers and have rewards given based on zones reached instead, very similar to how the freeplay chest was before but more target zones than that and only one time claim of course.

I grab champs that are like pre-stack or champs that I need to full epic or something.

I think I'd be ok with the change, but to be honest some of the variants are so restrictive I like doing run to 1,600, then changing units for the next run and see if I could get further on it... cause Umberto to get his stacks to full requires a lot and I don't know if his event buffs make or break anything but if I run to 1.200 and then wall out, I'd have to end the run, and then do it again and max out Umberto again with the new event buffs I unlocked but only after running the other variants to 1.600. Then I'd still be needing to do favor pushes and stuff.

I don't think grabbing Deekin instead just to run the corrupted gems faster is like a smart solution when you could be getting pre-stack for Vin Ursa for more power if you wanted to run Evil to the Core or Freely if you want to run a debuff team or gold farm even higher than before.

well I did post to get it back up because I'm finding the events tedious, past events were non-consequential if I didn't do everything (only the two relevant chars sometimes gave stuff at tier 4), but now there's more incentive to do all of them and all slots for the corrupted gems but it's still tedious and leads to burnout :/
I don't see why it's a problem to reply to a post from may when it's still relevant

The real reason they want you to do the variants so many times, free to play games want you playing actively.

They can't pay their mortgage if all anyone does is just gem farm and three or four days of trials.

They want you to at least see that there's a sale going on or what your wild offer is.

You can't be tempted to spend if you never see what's for sale. Which is why I don't understand why the offers for skins are so rare in the event shop.

And one of my suggestions I said they should always have a skin in the event wild offers if you don't own all the skins. Even if they have to remake the bundles to have like a skin and a feat and a golden epic.

There's just no reason that after 28 days I never got to see the Tatiana polymorph skin. They missed out on $10 because I couldn't give them my money. I wanted a giant floof tank for when I used her.

(It honestly looks like you are hardly replying to the comment, instead having your own agenda, but--)

I will say, doing a bunch of mindless variants isn't exactly 'active play', at least for me. What really makes me enjoy the game is the optimization in formation building, being handed a weird set of restrictions and figuring out the best way to go about it for success, to overcome that challenge. It gets me thinking about all of the characters and all of their options, and I love it when the solution ends up being the use of a character I haven't given much credit for in the past.

The main issue I have, then, is with the current event system, that only really happens to me when trying to reach T4 zone objectives. Going through all of the other tiers before it doesn't feel fun, it feels like unneccesary bloat. Maybe with the new system, my decision might be that I actually want to complete all T3's first before starting for T4 zones for the extra character boosts if I need that extra power, but then I'd be the one making that choice, which is a choice that doesn't currently exist in the game. But everything else in the lower tiers don't really feel fun to even a mid-game player. It just feels like unnecessary Briv bloat. That I'm required to spend 4 hours on low-tier chores before actually starting to play the game. Which, like, there's already enough content bloat in the game as it is with thousands of variant runs. Having to do 3x variants, 3x bloat-tiers, 5x (6x if support slot) for each champion every single month kinda just burns out quickly. That's 45/54 useless-feeling runs on a monthly basis. Honestly, if anything, the system as-is almost de-incentivizes me from supporting the game because getting that extra support champion slot only feels like I'm opting into doing 9 more variants I really don't feel like doing at all.

I get that but if they fix the problem and make it like that then that was an oversight.

If they never fix that it's either a software limitation based on the coding or they want you to run through those methodically.

Events in free to play games are almost always bloated in order to get you to spend more time playing the game.

You may not feel that running through those variants matters, but it's kind of a gauge of progress for newer players.

The real problem is they don't really give you any rewards. I feel that the T4 rewards should be in t3 because you need that little bit of power to progress to 1200 1400 or 1600 especially with how restrictive stuff is.

If you can run to 1600 with the restrictions for Umberto do you really need that as much as someone who is struggling to get past t3?

No. Esmeralda getting feats in every tier was great, but this system for everyone else is bad.

I feel like they need more rewards, a bottle of legendary juice for T1, pigment T2, Feat T3, and another feat for T4. I won't complain if I can speed run the events, I push deeper than I need to do that I don't have to do free plays for more favor, and I do a minor Gem farm as I tune my team and build formations planning how to do T4 until I can get close to e450-e500. That's how I cope with the efficiency loss is I do that middle ground and do a sub optimal gem farm.

It saves me from having to do free plays to try and get from e80 favor because I've already gone and swapped in gold find in the less restricted T4s.

But generally speaking people complain about this in every single free to play game that there's too much busy work for events it's wasting the players time but they do that because that's how you keep people from gem farming constantly, the developers can pay their mortgage.

If they change it and do not change it back then I was wrong and there was just an oversight. But generally speaking it's done this way to make more money. That's just how it is.

#

I'm not pushing an agenda I'm telling you how it is from hundreds of games why the developers do this what the purpose of wasting your time is. It's because someone else is going to see the wild offer and drop 10 to $20. Straight up. That's how free to play games make money. That's the reality of the situation.

I could be wrong but I'm just telling you. 90% of the time it's working as intended.

Apologies for picking my points here but I am genuinely unsure what exactly your core point is, so...

Events in free to play games are almost always bloated in order to get you to spend more time playing the game.

Perhaps. Correct me if I'm wrong, but like, a lot of the 'bloat' is simply so that they can offer monetary offers to cut out the bloat by speeding things up. 'Why are MMO's so grindy? So you have to play longer to get all of the content and so pay the subscription fee longer. Or you have to pay to get 2x XP everywhere and the game progression is balanced around the assumption you have that. etc.' I guess you can technically consider the 1.25x event boon boost as this, but I cannot imagine doing all of the variant sets without popping speed potions tbh, so the effect feels minimal once you're hitting the 54 bonus variant threshold of gamestage. Again, counter-intuitively, supporting the game adds more length of these rather than getting rid/cutting down on them.

...The point about spread of rewards feels irrelevant to the conversation... But again, nothing about the suggestion is 'getting rid' of anything for completing earlier tiers if the player can't push to the later ones.

And, like, RE: gem farming, the game isn't really priced around script-farmers, nor do I feel it necessarily should be. It's moreso priced around whales, as most F2P games are, and I wouldn't be surprised if CE is just leaving script-farmers be as a method of playing due to them likely being a demographic highly-likely to make a small handful of purchases that they might not've otherwise made, getting Briv GE, etc. I honestly wouldn't be too surprised if one reason they pushed to finish deleting seasons is with the last one accidentally allowing people to get a GE potion for free, cutting into this demographic's revenue

#

Again, sorry if I'm missing something, but like, the only points I can notice you making is you're against this change because they already designed it this way (very weird mindset to bring into a suggestions forum btw), and a correlation that time needs to be spent on the event in order to rob gem-farming time, which I really don't know how to discuss with you, because it just feels to me like so much like a systematic issue stemming out from how gem farming works rather than anything to do with how event progression work. But, like, again, I do feel like I'm missing the exact point you're trying to make so lmk

I'm not against your suggestion. My point is that they want people to stop gem farming to do the things, and maybe they buy a thing while they are messing with the event.

If you only have to run 9 adventures, one week, and then, 3 every week after for 100% completion and the rest of the time is gem farms and trials, they have no chance at a sell.

I think the suggestion is good, but I generally feel, that when you are talking about changes in the game and are sympathetic with the devs, and trying to see things from their point of view, the chances that they will listen goes up.

So yes I devil's advocate for the devs, because maybe there is a compromise where both sides can be happy with.

So if we can't get the event content cleared faster, maybe we can get more rewards for every tier on every unit even if they aren't the best, saving 2,500 scales a month or getting 1,000 scales for every T1, is better than getting nothing at all. Even if it would not effect monetization by a penny, it could also destroy their profits.

Seasons are dead because they lost revenue so severely because nothing was worth buying. It was just "I'll wait till they are in a season" so now we have a cooler system that is more predatory and less rewarding.

So with that in mind I'm trying to split the difference a little bit with my recommendations my own thread.

I would rather get something then get nothing so I talk about these suggestions in the hope that we can find something else that the devs might agree to even if the original was a straight thanks but no thanks.

I'm not trying to be hostile or anything. I just want increases in chances we get something.

Honestly I'm not mad either, I just am very perplexed and trying to understand how you feel about the subject lol.

I just personally believe that there are a lot better ways to tackle the issue to boost engagement in the game than repeating the same exact variant over-and-over. Like, want to incentivize play away from gem farming and active play? Tune boss gem drops down, cap them to 100k gems per day, and jack up the gem reward from completing base adventures/variants, maybe adding gem rewards to patron variants as well as you're at it. At least with them, it feels like you are also doing permanent progress, rather than events. Whether that would be a well-recieved change is one thing, but it at least feels like it addresses the issue more directly. Idk, I suppose, I just feel like Events in these types of games should be a reason to return to the game long-term rather than being a source of burn-out as it feels like you have to start the cycle over every event, even if we end up keeping our variant progress once we start repeating Event 2.0s, picking up where we left off at T3 the year before if we select the same champs, etc.

#

But yeah, like Patron Challenges are a thing, we even just got a new champ that interacts with them, yet this element of the 're-occurring active weekly engagement' still failed to get mentioned, continuing to be rejected by many for being too tedious once you hit a certain stage in the game. I'd just hate for the new event system to lead people to have the same stance just because it's designed so tediously. I feel like events should, ya know, be exciting and get people excited to play, not to get them burnt out. Like, even this event I'm already at the stage of considering just completely ignoring it, popping the base adventures to unlock the new champs, and then just bounty contracting them to FE and literally ignoring everything else. I'm going through Aeon for support pigment, but everything else I can save so much time and sanity by just ignoring. I'll be able to pick them up later with gems regardless. Legit, only the Corrupted Gems is keeping me hesitant on it, but again, that isn't always gonna be active there.

#

Like, don't get me wrong, I understand that active dev teams need thousands weekly to stay afloat. I also just believe that the current event system actively shoots themself in the foot, fundamentally because of the 45->54 'pay for additional busy-work' flaw in the system. So I guess my standpoint is a feeling that I don't really need to make concessions to the devs to get my point apart because the change itself would be mutually beneficial to both the team and the players

This is why I make my arguments. This. See how now you have another idea about disincentives to run 24 hour gem farms with 19J briv?

It's because I'm doing devil's advocate. So it got you thinking.

I've had that idea too. Jacking up gem rewards, adding 3,000 gems per dollar to wild offers, stuff like that, but I've sent that stuff in with support tickets to the dev team months ago. It was after the first or during the second event because I had gift cards I would have spent but, there was nothing of value to buy until Vin Ursa went on sale which I bought and enjoyed quite a bit.

I push back because I want the game better, but we have to work together in that so that maybe they don't like idea 1 or 2 but idea 3 might be really cool and they bring it up in a meeting and it evolves from there.

#

It's nothing against you or your ideas, I want to challenge people so that we get the best we can get which isn't always what we first wanted. Something is better than nothing.

#

The monetization is horrible in this game. I've put in that maybe they can put the item level boosts into the offers like they had in seasons. Maybe that's more predatory but at least you get more out of it for spending money than not having it at all. Again I said this in a support ticket because I was worried people might get mad.

It was also part of a 7 point analysis on how all of collections isn't as rewarding as 1 $10 seasons purchase, and how we got 2-3 pigments, and now the only people getting tanking, DPS, and healing pigments are those that can do T4, and so they don't need it. They are doing the hardest content in the game. They don't need what they are getting anymore. But people who do need them can't get them.

That's a flaw I brought up after DUrge came and went. Again in support tickets.
