Going off of Ulkoria's connection with waterdeep/ feat auto-qualify. Why doesn't Reya have an ability/feat to auto-qualify for any Zariel varient? Given how intertwined their story is? And seeing how Arkhan is intertwined with story of Descent Avernus. Why no ability/feat to auto-qualify for any Avernus adventure/variant?

It would be really nice if Reya would be always available on Zariel patron. An specialization to allow all Lawful Good Champions for Zariel would be nice (currently there are 11 Lawful Good champions outside slot 6 from which 2 of them doesn't qualify for Zariel, the others does but that doesn't mean they can't be excluded in some variants)

Haven't they over used the adding extra champs in variants too much already? There aren't any hard variants left

Actually I would like to see at least one champion for each patron and each campaign:

  • patronmirt: ?
  • patronvajra: ?
  • patronstrahd: nahara and her affiliation
  • patronzariel: reya and lawuful good?
  • Sword Coast: ?
  • Tomb of Anihilation: ?
  • Waterdeep: ulkoria
  • Avernus: ?
  • Icewind Dale: wulfgar and his affiliation
  • Witchlight: evandra and her affiliation
  • Xaryxis: ?
Personally, I also think that fen should be available in all patrons (I mean all variants as he already qualifies for patrons)

Some of the Heroes of Baldur's Gate should be allowed in Avernus and have an specialization to allow others members of the affiliation. Maybe delina? haha. Though Known Allies specialization from shandie would be a good place to put that feature

probably Jamilah for Tomb of Annihilation, since she's canonically from Chult

Azaka would also make sense for ToA since iirc she was one of the guides the party could hire in the port town to guide you around Chult

Yes but no but also yes - all three of Jamilah/Azaka/Dragonbait could easily be proposed for ToA because of the Chult connection
but Jamilah could also be used as a tutorial to the entire concept of "some champions are allowed to ignore variant restrictions under certain circumstances"

#

I would propose Jarlaxle for Mirt, with the caveat that it would be via a feat purchased from Mirt since Jarlaxle is currently also the tutorial champion for Critical Hits

I think I like Arkhan more as the Principal Beneficiary for Tiamat due to how enmeshed he is with the plot;
there's An Argument to be made for the Heroes of Baldur's Gate since this wouldn't be their first incursion into the infernal planes, except that the champion that would make that connection make sense doesn't exist yet (and likely won't exist in Champion form) and they'd be a better candidate for Grand Tour given the connection to the Sword Coast

for Xaryxis: It's very tempting to suggest Nrakk there, but I feel like the Xaryxis evergreen is going to have the ability built-in (be funny if we got a Giff champion as the Xaryxis evergreen)

Honestly though I would rather the Auto-Qualify feats/abilities go to tanks since those are scarce and the Shielding/Healing/Tanking update waaaaaay back in Year 2 was supposed to make them necessary to any successful run, yet we've still got high target variants where you have zero or one tank to work with naturally (glares at any variant that restricts by base attack type)

well then there we go

So then what we're at right now:

Bruenor in Torm, new spec. Smuggle in 1 banned Evergreen. So, banned Celeste or Jarlaxle or Hitch etc. This would introduce beginner players to the idea of this mechanic, while not being OP and adding in a whole team. Maybe even, a feat to qualify for Torm, and a specialization for 1
core or 1 evergreen.

They could hand out a Bruenor feat with one of the really low level adventures that allows him in all adventurers all the time. It's bruenor so it isn't op, while it would definitely show this interaction is available in the future for other champions to do it better.

call the feat "No Brainer"
