how do I get tonics? do I need them? where do I get the seasonal stuff? just pray for drops in tomb/contest of elders?

game explains nothing theres no vendor to focus the weapons just a bunch of tonics and I have no clue where to start this season.
I did act 1 + 2 of the seasonal quest btw, still dont know what Im doing
do I do the fieldwork? does it give me anything good like double perks? fieldwork capped by tonics unlocked, where do I get new recipes?

Pop a tonic, get the loot associated with that tonic.
Progress seasonal story.
Do the fieldwork for free materials + upgraded tonics.
Unlock tonic recipes by crafting greens/blue tonics that will get you purples aka “new recipes”.
Materials for tonics I thought dropped everywhere but it might just be seasonal activities
It’s really not that complicated, if you just keep in mind buying greens unlocks blues and buying blues unlock purples

is there a specific order in which the tonics unlock? can I focus 1 specific fieldwork or 1 specific tonic to unlock another specific one?
really only care about the weapons and dont wanna waste my material on armor tonics if theres a way to control what you unlock

Buy 5 green, unlocks a blue, buy 5 blue, unlocks a random purple that is used for a specific weapon/armor focusing. You can not control what the purple will be you just have to get lucky if u only want bittersweet
I believe but could be wrong that bitter/sweet is under the “Onslaught: Salvation weapons” tab in the tonic crafting section, so go to that tab start buying greens/blues until you get purple bittersweet tonic
You can easily verify that tho, I’m not currently on

Its crazy how noone can tell me for sure what tonics to focus to get to the bitter sweet one, I imagine it to be like 10 seconds of effort if not just common knowledge to find out which one it evolves from.

It's the bitter sweet tonic, from whichever pool doesn't matter, they all work the same
The one that's the most quickly available is the version from onslaught, which you get buy purchasing the blue onslaught weapons tonic

“Enriching tonic” tab —> “Onslaught tonics” tab —-> 5 greens, 5 blues, bitter/sweet.
Mats are not hard to get just play the game, do fieldwork, do seasonal quest line. Doing all this I’ve had infinite mats and barely played any seasonal activities…
Pop bitter sweet tonic once obtained and literally play any activity that’s “fun” to you and you’ll get drops
