#New Players journey through Destiny 2

So let me make this super clear and concise. I am new to the game, I'm currently doing Vanguard missions to progress what I hope is the initial story line.
I am hoping to find someone to answer a few questions, I think I'm doing the right order on stuff I just don't know.
I am in NA East, I am 21+ and I decided to go with a warlock. I usually run a support role in group based content, so I thought it was the best option for me.

So I did Shaw Hans quests and when I finished that I went to the tower for the first time, I did some weird mission that taught me Radiant Well ( I think that's what it's called)
Moved onto Vanguard Bounties through Zavala, hopefully going to finish those soon. People tend to speed run the Vanguards though so it's sometimes hard to do the bounties.
I hope this thread doesn't get closed immediately I hope to continue to add to it.
Great choice. Warlocks aren't just a "support" role, there are more to them than you think. You'll figure it eventually.
I appreciate it, yeah I quickly realized how crazy it was for me to run a support special when I'm running solo. It certainly has saved my ass though
Right now, doing the quests is the way to get familiar with the game
But let be honest with you
The new player experience is very bad.
Why? 1- the quests you're doing are just an " introduction" to get familiar with some of the game's story. 2- ALOT i mean MOST the game's content are locked behind a paywall and these dlcs have an actual campaign where you do missions and stuff, not chore work (as i call it) like the ones you're doing right now.
I mean yeah, I get that lol I just didn't know which ones to do first lol not to mention when I logged in again I got sucked into DLC cutscene and intro mission lol
Yeah, that's kinda of my issue I suppose cause I got gifted the 30th anniversary edition and a few of the DLC. I was hoping to do things some what in canonical order.
Oh! What were you gifted?
Oh yeah, let me tell you why there is no 'real' campaign for the new players; that's because alot of stuff been deleted, the original campaign doesn't exist anymore to reduce the game's size.
I got beyond light, forsaken pack, shadowkeep, the witch queen deluxe edition upgrade
Oh and the 30th anniversary pack
So do they just run whatever the current expansion is?
Red war (the original campaign) fully deleted, curse of osiris (first dlc) fully deleted, warmind (second dlc) fully deleted, forsaken (the 3rd dlc) half of it has been deleted and the story doesn't exist anymore.
That's great
That's actually amazing hold on

Order based of release date (old-new)
Shadowkeep ----> beyond light -----> 30th anniversary -----> witch queen.
Man I hope I'm not going to have to win pvp to progress at some point cause I already know that will be a brick wall for me.
Piece of advice
Don't play pvp right now
Uh, there's is a bug where
Yeah I didn't plan on doing pvp
I barely understand what my character does let alone others
Auto rifles are shooting shotgun pellets
So, uh, yeah
I don't think there is iirc
Each expansion has something called raids
Raids for me are the most fun activities in the game
And you have a great set of raids avaliable to you right now
There are dungeons also which is considered to be a mini-raids
It's alot of fun also
Do you have a friend who plays the game alot by any chance?
Nah the guy who gifted me the game doesn't play much anymore.
So I am flying solo currently
Alright
You complete quest and then campaigns
And the rest is on you to figure what to do after you finish them
One last question, I'm in deep fear of what to do with extra equipment
Thank God I found the vault thing
Should I dismantle everything I'm not using or like is it better to hold on to stuff or what?
Tbh
If you see a weapon is cool or might use in the future, keep it
There is a website called light.gg where is tells you if the perks you have on the weapon is good or not
And generally watch videos. There are videos that tell you what's a god roll or not and stuff like that.
That's actually the most helpful anyone's been with me since I started I appreciate you dropping some knowledge for me.
Least I have a general idea of what to do. I just recently learned that there was even melee weapons
No problem.
I am sure your friend could give some of his insight.
