ok so ive now been told replaying all the missions doesnt get you the exotic
one way tho is creating a new character to then play it on that
but i do not have any available slots tho so im still stuck atm

No, you should get an exotic after completing all the missions on legendary. Don’t know why people would be saying you need a new character
Unless something happened in the new update for the season, but I seriously doubt it

You get a choice of the 2 class exotics per character from Nimbus after completing the legendary campaign.
If you wanted to get both from the campaign you’d need to make another character, but you can get the one you’re missing elsewhere
namely solo lost sectors, but you can also get it from the Vex Strike Force public event on Neomuna
it will give a new exotic you haven’t gotten each time you’ve completed it
there’s a discord server with notifs for the vex strike force which can help you with that
