During the third Encounter me and my friends get to the index planets part we suddenly wipe for no reason. Can anyone explain what is happening?

We are also shooting the splinter right after placing the planets before we have to place them in the middle three plates and we unexpectedly wipe.

Check the giant middle sigil in the floor. When the encounter starts, it slowly fills up with a yellow light. When it fills up completely, you wipe.

To my knowledge, it's the only thing that causes wipes and it is only based on time. I could be wrong though.

My guess is that you placed the wrong planets in the wrong places and/or multiple planets in a single space then shot the splinter thing which caused the wipe.

in theory, if you're doing everything correctly you don't ever have to shoot the splinter

#

it's mostly for in case someone messes up and you know you cannot recover, end the round early so you lose less time
