I've had the most luck with doing Nightmare containment and killing with snowballs since they give extra XP for all equipped crafted weapons.
Seasonal/GM Nightfalls give flat 35% progress tho.

Or the public event on the moon. Tons of kills depending on the weapon.

In reality though leveling can be done just by playing the game. My usualy strategy is to just do pinnacles with the equipped weapon. Gets it done passively

At moment crafted weapons can gain extra 25% if you carry while doing dawning events/activities and a little extra at moment also if do strikes.
