I played my run safe, took an extra lap before DPS to ensure all traps were disabled, then re-entered each phase slowly
did three phases to play it safe

Yeah, I was referring to after DPS. I killed the majority of the shadows so I wasn't hitting threshold and the traps activated

If you hit the threshold he doesn't activate them post-DPS

But hitting the threshold drops your timer down to like 2 from wherever you're at

It was an interesting approach from Bungie, letting the player choose between DPS time and how much damage they can pump into the boss per phase
