Yeah, that's always been an issue, where you load in and get bombarded with cutscenes as a new/returning player. On your next load in of the game it's entirely possible to be thrown into one of the free campaign missions.

Generally you want to keep it at lower heat, the weapon itself benefits you too because of it being dynamic, making keeping low heat easier.
