Apparently even if you run out of time and the thing sends you back to just before the traversal, as long as you did the mechanics first run and whatever remaining mechanics you have yet to do on the second run, you can get all the catalysts? I did that with a friend and it somehow worked

She didn't intend to give them individuality. She tried to subjugate the entire collective, but it said 'nah'. Her trying to force it to happen caused them to become individuals to a degree.

First recorded case of that was in Echoes in one of the lore tabs when a goblin waved at a Guardian shortly before getting utterly annihilated by a ghorn.
