There should be chest near Zavala which will give you 300 power gear (weapons + armor) for all characters. That's a very good starting point. You can also get more free (but excellent) gear from Zavala weekly and Deverim (center of the tower where you spawn) daily (1 more week)

After that playing any portal activities will help increase power. T4 starts dropping from 400 and T5 from 470 consistently. You can get exotic armor from Rahool and exotic weapons from kiosk archive on tower
