not really- with FDM printing you could get a 1kg roll for like 20 bucks and you only need an fraction of that to print. (i print helmets and masks for example and i can easily print like 3 masks with 1 roll.

Resin printing is the same but on a smaller scale due to both the quality increase (finer layers and more detail but having smaller buildplate in most cases) pretty sure 1 liter of resin is like 30 bucks.

but the finer and smaller you print, the more time it takes is the exchange.

Sure but then you'd have to sand your own prints and spray your own top coat on top of processing it like a normal gunpla. And then there's a further deeper side to it like line planing and ink filling

I think what's great about kits is that it's ready for you to just build and then mod in your own time
