If only there was a way to increase the spawn rate of a monster spawner for more reliable XP gains.

There is. Do what I suggested and you’ll learn a lot about it , key is to light up all caves and dark spots within the surrounding areas and chunks. Less spawnable area increases your mob spawner effectiveness 10 fold
