I just realized that swapping any armor piece or weapon resets reserve mods. So if you have reserve mods on, it will get rid of the bonus reserve ammo when you swap anything, even if the reserve mod stays on.

Learn how to read. I said KEEPING THE MOD ON. Switching anything else like weapons or a different armor piece still removes the reserve ammo.
