@low lynx molar mass is avogadro's number x the atomic number. So basically it gives you the mass of 1 mole of an element. For example: Carbon-12 has 12 protons in it, which gives it the atomic mass of 12. You multiply 12 x (6.02 x 10^23) which will tell you the molar mass of the element. The molar mass is only used for pure elements like carbon, oxygen, hydrogen etc. A heuristic you can use is this. 1 mole of any element is their atomic number, but keep in mind that you have to account for diatomic species like oxygen and hydrogen for example. With molecular mass, its the same process but its the individual elements of a molecule added up. Ex. H2O ... 2H (Atomic Mass 1 x number of atoms present 2) PLUS 1O (Atomic Mass ~16 x number of atoms 1) after finding these values - add them together and youll get this H2O = 16 + 2 = 18. So H2O has a molecular mass of 18 grams per mole
