It was pretty cool for its time. You can see the Bungie-isms that still go on today, in that game. Like a lot of lore/story stuff is in terminals in text format, kinda like lore books in Destiny etc.

You can still queue duo, but you'll be in lobbies with other 3s and duos.

I haven't had too much difficulty duo queueing, but it is nice to have a third, so you can use matchmaking to get a third if needed.

It helps yeah. Having people who want to go in with more effective loadouts, or even just knowing where stuff is on the map is good. That said, you really only need one guy who knows where everything is as it is easy to teach people locations

Or like, if you are trying to do a lockdown run in Marsh, you want people to bring 2ish anti-virus kits and good loadouts to deal with enemy runners and the UESC bots that spawn etc

I find it easier to solo some contracts, you just play much more stealthy (and sometimes you find other solos who are actually friendly). Careful who you trust though.

That said, I've used "Crew fill" several times, and it usually works out. Worst case scenario if you cannot get your contract done, you get some credit for helping others with their contracts.

Not really, I've got a few RL homies that are really into it with me, and I've met a chunk of people on Bungie's discord that dig it.

What has been uncommon (sadly) was my success rate in getting people to try D2 back when I played it a ton.

Even in the prime, it wasn't their thing, was a bummer.

Of that 88k that bought the game, less than half of them are remaining as concurrent players

I didn't like the AI when i played server slam. Arc's AI is very responsive and fun to engage

in Marathon it just is boring to fight

Yeah the AI (outside of compiler, idk what he is like to fight yet) is more of an alarm bot tbh, but they can do serious damage if you leave them alone even for a couple seconds.

The invis robots can basically half your health (with good shields like purple) in a 1 second shot barrage if you get focused on another player in that moment.

Killing them can be kinda sketchy because it makes noise, so others will know you are beefin with robots and maybe try to gank you

Purple enforcers are bulky and unless your squad is lasering them. Sometimes you get into a fight in a really bad spot like on Outpost in front of the main loot room. It summons 2-3 purple robots with some lackeys, and sometimes people wait for you to engage them before they go for the gank.

That all said, the robots are def not supposed to feel like a major threat unless they are several purples and blues with them. Cryo loves to spawn tons of robots in pretty rough places for you to deal with, and you will likely incur some damage, plus you'l lbe vulnerable to gank if you are not careful.

Valid, they don't feel like a super strong or engaging presence. I haven't tried Arc, the third person thing was kind of a dealbreaker for me.

People don't need someone constantly reminding them that their game is not on D2's peak player count level.

You never really can know unless it is blatant. Even in CS at the 20kish mark, you see a lot of people that are hella sus. You can spec the replay, but you can never been 100% sure if they hide it well enough

But yeah, whenever I play an FPS, I expect it to have cheaters at some point. Valorant is pretty good at catching them, but they still have em. CS2 is a little worse, as far as marathon goes, I've not run into any blatant ones yet, but I'll never know for sure.

Aztecross said something in that vid that I've been saying for a bit, but it feels like every multiplayer game I've played recently has had to deal with a huge cheater problem, none of them have ever gotten rid of them completely.

Cheaters fuckin suck, but not much you can do about it in any game. Just hope they start bannin and catchin em faster in whatever you play.

I mean hell, even in this server throughout the course of Destiny 2, we've never been able to catch all of em, and a lot of the community in D2 is actually ok with it.

Still scratchin my head at this whole thing. I mentioned this before but part of me is kind of surprised that D2 lasted as long as it did. Over the course of the entire run, they had made countless tone deaf decisions for handling the game. I feel like it really cropped up more in the last 2 years.

I loved D2, but they changed enough that I was done by the time TFS ended honestly. Raids were cool, but that is only a small portion of my time played.
PVP was cool, but then they slowly stripped away all prestige and exclusive "you can only earn this if you are good at the game" rewards to it. Why bother playing it to get better when I wont get rewarded for my time and effort? Don't get me started on the balance and failure to do that well in any capacity.
PVE for casuals, the largest chunk of their base, was largely abandoned and made to feel less immersive with things like the portal being introduced.

If Trials was back to being unforgiving and didn't have several things allowing bad players to get their flawless titles... I might still be playing to this day, but they left us out to dry.

trials was doomed to die, the pvp meta just felt very suffocating at some points.

Abilities sort of overtook the meta throughout it's history and it felt less about gunplay and more about who could spam abilities more.
