My dad is using a Pixel 6a and i finally got around to checking if his phone is eligible for the battery replacement program. Seems like his phone is. They are giving me the option for free battery replacement, money for the value of the device, money towards the value of the device and its warranty since it's
under warranty still, and credit towards a new phone on the Google store. The value of the phone and warranty is like $452 or something like that. I am tempted to do the free battery replacement since he doesn't need a new phone but the screen has a single hairline crack on it. Wanted to know if that makes it ineligible for the replacement program.
#Does a crack on the screen make the phone ineligible for the battery replacement program?

it might be bad luck for you
i read the FAQ for eligibility here, https://support.google.com/pixelphone/answer/16340779?visit_id=639021058186405933-3568272007&p=pixel6a_battery&rd=1#terms&zippy=
If your phone has out-of-warranty damage, such as display or cover glass cracks, then there may be a fee to repair your phone. Before we start any repairs, we'll provide a cost estimate. You then have the option to proceed with the repair or have your device returned to you.

it might not invalidate your eligibility for the program since i dont see it say anything about it, but they might charge you to replace the screen
however, its still worth asking if they can replace the battery without replacing the screen, thats your very best bet
do you happen to know if i can have ubreakifix do the replacement under the program? I would refer not to send my dads phone out somewhere if possible.
I have no issues doing the repair myself as well. Can buy a battery from ifixit since i have done multiple repairs myself in the past.
i cant go to their website..https://www.ubreakifix.com/repairs/smartphones/google-pixel/google-pixel-6a/services/battery-replacement
it seems like ubreakifix is an authorised google service centre
they might take it in, worth a shot, no?
i dont have a store from google themselves here, but there is an authorised google repair centre, and my country is still listed as available for walk in
its available At walk-in repair centers in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore, Japan, Australia, India, and France.
if they say that display or glass cracks makes the phone ineligible, you canshow them the screenshot here and argue that there is nothing about cracks that make it ineligible
i believe that you can bring it to ubreakifix, the only question we both have now is "will they charge you for the crack?"
yup, go do that. im 100% sure your phone is eligible once the situation about the crack is cleared
Wondering if I should ask to get it in writing with a signature.
