I don't think something is wrong with my phone as it is about 2 months old. but it is rooted and had a few drops (no cracks or visible damage)

Firstly, I didn’t say anything about switching between 0.7 and 1.0 zoom. Secondly, even both of you can see fluctuations in brightness and uneven animation when zoomed in to 2x, which should not happen at all. Because 2x is just digital zoom, it's literally cropping the image.
