I took a bunch of photos with my pixel using the stock camera app, and I need the geotagging to be accurate. Reviewing them today, it looks like the location updates are very coarse, so photos that were ~50m apart have the exact same position. Is there a way to tell the camera app to get location data more frequently, or will I have to find some other solution?

#

For additional context, I'm using the photos as reference for edits to OpenStreetMap. Having the most accurate position possible makes it significantly easier. I'm quite confident that this isn't just GPS error or anything like that

Even if I am walking almost all of the time between the photos

find a workaround

#

disable and enable location every time you are about to click a photo

I already have a workaround - I record Gps trace with an app that updates location frequently enough, and then correlate the photos with the trace later on my computer

#

To me, this is a bug in the stock camera

nah not a bug

#

it's just how often it updates the location

#

if you are at a similar place it won't but if you move several meters then it would

#

just try out what I said it will force it to update location in real time
