#Hand tracking support for Meta Quest
1 messages ยท Page 1 of 1 (latest)
i dont see a way to install other branches on the store page
shame on a moth I guess
xddd
yeh
go to th library shit
hover over the app click the 3 dots
idk the rest. but u can prob figure it out easily
just click around bro xdd
the hardest step is finding those 3 dots in the first place everything else should be self explanatory
okay wow that is really buried but i found the beta thanks xD
yeah
okay then how about this:
let me hold virtual drum sticks within the handtracking mode ;-;
i wanna air drum with no meta controllers required
dude those get heavy; literally heavier than the sticks
gotta put AA's in those bitches
very carefully
With what
meta quest 3
lol
that is already tracking my hands
You are swinging your hands fast
uh yeah ofc
could be better than those air drum sticks that are way too expensive
anyway
i've air drummed before
theres another game that allows it
you dont want this
even if you're slow
it litreally doesnt work
u cant keep a tempo u cant play a beat
a man can dream
hand tracking tech will get better over time ๐
maybe just not in the quest 3
who wants to buy a vision pro?!
ET you could label it as a business expense on your taxes think about it
idk if dat shi would help
only one way to find out
...someone needs to port paradiddle to the vision pro is what im getting at
bruh ๐
im looking into some of those things where you can house a AAA battery into a AA-sized shell
that would definitely help weight
but id need to charge batteries more
eh
AAA batteries weigh less than AA batteries
is that shi rlly gon be noticeable idk
yea
thats so god damn true my friend
but me personally it almost dont matter if theres a bettery or not in my shi
sticks have weight preferences too
ngl we having a whole ass CHAT in this random ass suggestions space
and im sure the weight difference is much more minimal
oh well true
but i there's a big difference - i get tired out a lot faster playing air drums on the quest controllers vs my real ekit
so its true..
shadowboxing is harder than just actually playing..
the controllers are also a bit top heavy which throws me off, one of the reasons i want to extend my index finger out
so interesting to hear about problems i never thought abt cuz its just all i know
i did notice you can change the position of your virtual sticks in the beta, maybe i could flip them upside down and hold the controllers the same way
most terrible idea i ever hread
don do dat
sadly the tracking only works proeprly if u hold them like ur supposed to
if u try ANY trick at all
ur fucked
This feels right
im sure the tracking wont suffer at all
try it xdd
shit i was being mostly sarcastic but it actually works really well lmao
fuck i may actually start holding my controllers upside down what have i become
no but seriously that makes the weight feel so much better
the tracking honestly doesnt feel compromised
defintely wouldnt work well for quest 2 though lol
wtf xdd
crazy
okay after play testing a bit more, holding your meta quest 3 controllers normally is like 99.9% accurate whereas holding them upside down is like 95% accurate... that 5% difference is enough to say its not worth it in the long run
regarding using hand tracking for sticks - we tried a version of this where you could hit the drums with your hands, but it's way too slow for any sort of percussion instrument where your hands can move back and forth quite fast. ultimately we decided not to add that in because I've seen a lot of instances where users will think it's the app's fault the hand tracking isn't good enough, rather than an issue with the vr platform itself. also the lagginess made it not fun at all ๐
Makes sense. Technology just isn't there yet
Hand tracking works well in the beta for menu navigations ๐
You mean in the "hand tracking" release channel on quest right? Not the "beta" channel?
Right
