#Asking ChatGPT about CKF

I mentioned that in the near future potential players will ask ChatGPT what games to play. So I tried it out like I threatened...

TLDR: CKF seems to have a positive image in the eyes of AI, but the player needs to find the game via other means.

I first asked for the top 5 games to play in both cyberpunk and heist/extraction shooter games. CKF was not listed. Then I asked it to limit it to games released within the last 3 years + those coming in the next quarter. Suddenly CKF was a #4 cyberpunk pick. However ChatGPT claimed this was not to just make me happy.

🎯 10 Key Strengths of Cyber Knights: Flashpoint
And how each compares to the best-ranked game in that category

Feature / Quality Why It's Strong Compared To

1 Deep Tactical Combat Turn-based XCOM-style with stealth, hacking, and class synergies > More strategic than Ghostrunner II or The Ascent
2 Squad Customization Each operative has backgrounds, cyberware, and class trees > Beats most ARPGs in depth, rivals Cyberpunk 2077 builds
3 Open-Ended Missions Choose infiltration, brute force, ambushes, or stealth > Far more flexible than the linearity of ANNO or PAYDAY 3
4 Tense Resource Management Gear, contacts, time pressure between missions > Evokes Tarkov-style pressure in strategic form
5 Reputation and Faction Play Actions affect your standing with megacorps, gangs > Similar to Cyberpunk 2077, but more reactive in gameplay loops
6 Strong Worldbuilding Gritty, low-key cyberpunk city built via text + art + event trees > Not as cinematic as Cyberpunk 2077, but denser in lore-per-minute
7 Replayability Procedural maps, different agents, shifting alliances > Outpaces most story-driven games except Tarkov's systemic loop
8 Dev Transparency & Modding Hooks Actively improved, full roadmap, strong Discord/Steam forums > Surpasses larger studios in community engagement
9 Cyberware + Hacking System Tight interplay between deckers, augments, and skill loadouts > More meaningful than Deus Ex's late-game aug bloat
10 Narrative Freedom Choose who to support, who dies, who betrays you > Narrative depth approaches Disco Elysium in branching design (though less literary)

I think the Disco Elysium comparison is a big stretch

#

While I enjoy CKF very much, it's still missing a lot of key components. I think it will be better for its success to 'bloom late' in terms of visibility, simply because I believe it's very easy for someone to lose interest at this early, relatively unpolished stage.

#

But I'm no marketing expert, just some dude spitballin

void torrent
#

What I did next was to point out the game's failings (you know me, the prompt was fairly crushing) to see if I can influence ChatGPT the other way - seems actually not too strongly in this case. While acknowledging the downsides it could find sources for in reviews etc the bot still outlined the game's strengths. I also asked for a comparison to CP2077 as it ranked that game #1 (released 2020 but DLC in 2023). More bias from the prompt is seen in this, mostly the topics/things it brings up for CKF.

bleak fable
#

That's funny because I wouldn't rank CP2077 highly 🤣

Biggest hypejob in recent game history

✅ What Cyber Knights Does Well
Despite faults, it has a dedicated fanbase and developer engagement:

Deep tactical loop with viable stealth, hacking, multi-phase planning

Rich customization & cyberware mix, offering diverse builds and strategies

Dynamic, sandbox faction system—choose allegiances, run heists with ripple effects .

Active developer support with frequent patches, community responsiveness

Modular mission design, supporting stealth and loud approaches
(removed references to user forums to make this prettier)

I have the pro plan for Perplexity, you can ask it to do projects. I'll prompt it to do a comprehensive review and market comparison for CKF later.

void torrent
#

A bit telling ChatGPT first stated CKF was released May 2024 and then later that it was June 2025. It's not very good with numbers and date is a number...

bleak fable
#

This is my prompt for the project, let's see what it cooks up

#

But yeah, LLMs like to confabulate anything which isn't purely language

#

Reading it as we speak

#

Perplexity projects function really likes making charts

#

The document is solid imho

As screenies:

# bleak fable While I enjoy CKF very much, it's still missing a lot of key components. I think...

You would think many players still would lose interest due to unpolished things? Even when the game is out of EA.

What I thought the norm nowadays is to give a game 12 months of time (it's what I did for Stellaris etc and many still fail) after the release before you really start to judge it comprehensively or maybe even try it out. But even in later -50% off discounts (which are popular shopping periods on Steam I gather) it's hard to find the game if the word is not out there.

bleak fable
#

My concern is that you don't want word getting around that it's not cooked sufficiently yet.

#

First impressions count, people nowadays are fairly inpatient and don't give things time. This is just my personal anecdotal impression and experience.

#

I personally don't regard the current release as a true 1.0; But I do want it to succeed.

void torrent
# bleak fable

Time limits in CKF are both too strict and stressful and too lenient and losing tension 😂

bleak fable
#

They kinda are in the early game and aren't in the late game

void torrent
bleak fable
#

You have a very limited toolset in the beginning, and it doesn't scale proportionally with your power level.

#

So you have a frontloading of tension and difficulty (especially difficulty, this has been decried a lot), especially since you get a lot of difficult story missions relatively early.

#

By the time you get to the late game you mostly have only proc-gen missions which are comparatively easy, and a lot easier once you get your builds together in terms of talents and class compositions, as well as gear.

void torrent
bleak fable
#

If I had to draw a difficulty curve

#

Did this in paint obviously

void torrent
#

Overall the AI summaries above seem fairly useful for what they are

#

I think we'll get more out of them once we learn to prompt better. Eg. ChatGPT can be directed a lot on how you want it to present the information, what to concentrate on etc.

#

And sometimes these tools are just useless, the challenge is for us to detect it.

bleak fable
#

Yeah, I kept mine generic ; you can squeeze a lot more juice out of it

void torrent
#

Yes, the idea here is to find out what the generic AI user would find about CKF with the tools

#

Reddit, steam posts, review sites seem to have a big effect on the informatioin

bleak fable
#

Could probably ask it to scour steam reviews as well

#

These are the sources it used

#

Seems to have confabulated entirely new screenshots?

#

With a first person ghost hand

livid coral
bleak fable
#

No idea, LLMs like to pull shit out of thin air.

#

That's why if anything you do with it could negatively impact your work or whatever, you need to both check its sources and read its output at least twice.

livid knoll
#

Oh boy, an epistomological problem

bleak fable
#

Is it though?

#

You'd measure a workpiece you made with a lathe as part of quality control. Why wouldn't you check the "production" of an LLM?

#

(The papers starting with "As a large language model..." answer this question I guess)

livid knoll
#

Checking how it aggregated the summary is part of the epistomological problem. Its basically pulling at aggregated conversation and public info to present this summary, which explains some of the gaps like being a known entity in cybernetic themed sqaud based tactical games. Just the exercise of finessing the prompt to get a legible hit is a form of curve fitting that ceases to resemble a likely organic prompt thats curious about the game. I am a big skeptic of this stuff mostly because it feels like a reach for authoritative answers with weirdo methodology to get them. Not that humans are total authorities but we also have some latent skepticism of other people and them showing the work of how they arrived there is how we validate someone has familiarity with what theyre going on about

bleak fable
#

It's just a monkey that is really good at shuffling words, and this description is offensive to monkeys.

livid knoll
# bleak fable If I had to draw a difficulty curve

I love this btw because it feels right - and this curve isnt very satisfying if youre deadset on a perpetual playthrough, but its really hard to get away from this narratively - you start off weak, pick up new moves and gear and tech, you gain a grasp of them and learn their best uses, and then youre in the back half of the game waxing fools left and right because you know how it goes. And upon replay, that early hump is less steep.

bleak fable
#

Yeah, I just think the power curve should peak in the midgame/pre-late game, not in the early game

#

You learn the ropes, get some manageable jobs that introduce you to core mechanics, and then get to apply them in more difficult scenarios, as a reward you've climbed the hill and enjoy the fruits of your labor

livid knoll
#

I think some of that is the narrative conceit of a lot of games where you start as a metaphorical infant in a world where youre the only infant and gotta grow up quick to hack the game universe. And then everything else follows in learning game lessons/game system, not making the same mistakes twice, sizing up rewards from action, etc etc. Its kind of a cheap copout but what would the curve look like if we joined a story already in progress that puts you in mid game shit with mid game power? (And I finally gave up on Stellaris after all these years because they did get pacing down pretty well for their 3 act game and then decided to redo a core system with all their UI shit)

bleak fable
#

Just starting at level 10 would solve a lot of issues yeah

#

Would also make sense thematically

#

You don't get a CK implant as a snot nosed greenhorn

void torrent
#

Well yeah starting with the implant means you're not a barrel bottom level 1 adventurer

livid knoll
#

And at least for a perpetual playthrough, thats where I would want to start since I know the story and dont need to go through the motions of discovering the game universe. If there is ever an origin to develop for those that wanna longhaul a playthrough for years, itd be 'Cut to the chase' where we start off fairly developed bar maybe the CK itself

bleak fable
#

Yet you come equipped with absolute dogshit gear

Then again they gave the Ring to hobbits. Beats me how the mgt sometimes makes their decisions.

The Hangover 2231 edition

livid knoll
# void torrent I doubt the game will ever be optimized for a perpetual playthrough

Ive never modded before but this game has all the guts I like and mostly in place to allow that. After playing so much Xcom, I really did arrive at 'let me give the story a few tries and then set me loose on the game system that keeps giving me fun things to do and gain'. It doesnt help that my latest game favo is Balatro which is pure game without filler each and every run

bleak fable
#

I have to admit that the only thing that interests me is the gameplay loop

#

I find myself skipping all dialogue most of the time, because it feels generic

livid knoll
#

Hahaha, I have to read it all a few times but yeah, if this is my 5th or 6th run, I know who X is, who they associate with, what theyre trying to do. Whats the mission here?

bleak fable
#

It's really hard to make a compelling and original story within the given context

void torrent
#

How so

bleak fable
#

Everything is text based, a lot of it is procedurally generated, and the choices available for us to spread our wings in terms of moral conundrums is very limited , so far.

#

I don't want/need voice acting personally. But it's a lot easier to tie someone in when you have voices, expressions and cinematics.

#

I might be an ignorant bastard and missing a boatload of original lore, but from the excerpts I did read, it just didn't click.

livid knoll
#

I do think the Bros have some good ideas on how to keep larger universe dynamic. I will say, Id skip talking heads and cinematics on my 5th run. I love Fallout but sorry Harold, I seen you before

bleak fable
#

I felt there were a lot of questionable decisions about the jupiter retirement questline so far.

#

But gotta give em some rope, it's gonna get there.

void torrent
livid knoll
#

Havent gotten to that yet but upon hearing that this is how it goes, I immedietely wanted to be rated on how many mercs I could get to retirement in a 5 year period, lol, hows that for a perpetual hook? Hahah

void torrent
#

So I kinda agree the dialogue being generic... if we had more sibling stories... 🤷‍♂️

bleak fable
void torrent
#

Didn't you play the new start yet though? Some people seem to like it and it's a bit darker

bleak fable
#

What we need is more interaction with face and mercs

void torrent
#

And the retirement arc is said to be good

i dont have a problem with the dialogue

it probably could be improved but it works for me

i just need more story/dialogue stuff

after the first hurdle of haven smokeout and high street the game becomes a simple loop of doing missions

which is nice but i want some meat

its like the classic cyber knight game on the phone-yeah its fun running around with my three hunds getting money and wrecking shit but theres no story or meaning to it
